I put the video description into Google translate. It detected this was Japanese. The translation read,
"A variety of scenery, such as running along the coastline or running in the deep green mountains
You can enjoy this sightseeing limited express "Umisachi Yamasachi".
The white side of the car body is covered with the special product "Obi cedar" along the line, which can be used for the interior design
Similarly, the interior with plenty of "Obi cedar" is stylish.
Two attendants strive to guide and explain at famous places along the line
To the final stop, Nango Station, at events such as picture-story shows from "Umisachi Yamasachi"
It will work hard so that passengers will not get bored. It was fun."

Totally agree
I grew up in Aburatsu over 60 years ago and traveled this line many times. The line between Aburatsu and Miyazaki wasn’t completed entirely when I was a child but we spent a lot of time in Kodomonokuni as well as other places where this train travels. Am a little disappointed the line isn’t electrified all the way. Looks like the electrification went to the airport but not south of there. A lot has changed but a lot hasn’t.
I cant believe how green your tracks are, living in a tropical rainforest.
Philippines: Am I a joke to you?
Well, some station looks overgrown and rather decrepit...
I also want to assume a couple things, this is light commuter work at low speeds so I want to say the brush and it's roots act as an anchor to the ground for the railroad ties, they may break them down but they still remain in place. It's not like theres heavy work going on the rails anyways so what harm is there for grass? I see more of a use than harm.
Thank you for this video. It is easy to see train videos of the larger train lines in the bigger cities such as Tokyo and Nagoya, and ther main lines. There are not so many for the smaller regional lines. It is interesting to see the smaller coastal towns and the southern countryside. I don't think that I will be able to visit your country, but at least this way I can be a virtual tourist. 😊🚆
The railway looks safe enough, but there are lots of cemeteries along the line. 😮
The view from the driver's cabin is phenomenal
Greetings out of Africa! Not sure how I got here but this is highly enjoyable - Thanks for sharing.
This is how I feel about many RUclips videos. :-)
Such a large audience of this video speaks English.
Anyway, like most of you, this was in my Recommended, and I have to say, you don't get trains like this anywhere else in the world.
It's a tiny, tiny little branchline sortta thing yet they run the trains so fast and everything is so unique, nothing like anywhere else in the world.
Such a cool train route. I also love the little train stations along the line.
I absolutely love it.
Edit: the more I watch it, the more I love it. Like at 28:11 how it just stopped for seemingly no reason, but it almost was like a getting a view?
Many of the comments are about the points (or turnout, or switch) not being set for the train in the video. These are Spring-loaded points, (or turnout, or switch.) Used for single track railways - like the video, so 2 trains traveling in the opposite direction can pass each other at a station. The points are set by default for the trains travelling in the opposite direction - so they go to the other station platform. The leading wheels of the train in the video will push the point blades across - so the train can pass over the points safely. After the train has passed the point blade rails will move back to their original setting. It's a labour-saving device, so the railway staff don't have to keep setting the points for the trains travelling in each direction.
I liked there is not litter anywhere! I am in Washington State and that scene would not look so clean here.
BEAUTIFUL!!
Nice to see the ordinary Japan. It felt like I was going home on the train as though I live there, so comforting.
It's always fantastic to be in the Japan 's Country side. It really gives a very fine feeling. I Love Tokyo and other big Cities mainly due to Neatness and Cleanliness with their own beauties. Still Extremely in Love with County side of Japan.

Loved the unobstructed view to the front, and the inserts for the scenery. A nice ride.
(using Google translate:)
A variety of scenery, such as running along the coastline or running in the deep green mountains
You can enjoy this sightseeing limited express "Umisachi Yamasachi".
The white side of the car body is covered with the special product "Ashihisugi" along the line, which can be used for the interior of the car.
Similarly, the interior that uses plenty of "Ashihisugi" is fashionable.
Two attendants strive to guide and explain at famous places along the line
To the final stop, Nango Station, at events such as picture-story shows from which "Umisachi Yamasachi" originated
It will work hard so that passengers will not get bored. It was fun.
Ashihisugi in my translator says Obi Cedar
What a nice train ride through the sub-tropical forest and the wonderful towns. Good job showing the side sidelight sights. Perhaps you could supply some information about what we were looking at along with the hostess's information. Again one of the best rides so far.
I don't know either, but I do know about the geographic effect that causes those straight grid-like lines on the beach @27:00, because I've visited Aoshima shrine*. They call it the "devil's washboard" there. From what I remember it's just layers of (volcanic?) rock and soil that have been pushed up diagonally by tectonic activity and then have been ground to this pattern by the sea washing over it.
*) actually very close to where the train in the video stops @20:00 -- I think you can even briefly see the hotel where I stayed but I'm not sure.
A wonderful scenic adventure thank you, rural japan is a really beautiful place.
With the amount of fauna on or close to the tracks, definitely the Japanese countryside. Beautiful!
I love that greenery. For some reason, in Europe, we fear that. Grass near tracks for many means that they are undermaintained and look "untidy".
@Willy Park *_ And no litter scattered all around! _*
Think you meant flora for the plant-life. You rarely see fauna (animals) and never see human trespassers. Everyone obeys crossing gates and stays behind the yellow lines at stations. The Japanese seem to have achieved a higher plane of civility.

A wonderful and interesting journey. Thanks for posting this video.
My Dad drove trains, my Scottish great grandfather work on the railway as did my grandfather on my mums side of the family, my maternal great grandfather was a station master in 1910, I love trains especially Steam trains, when I visited Japan I will ride the Shinkansen. Where I live we have a high speed railway to London with Japanese made trains..
Love the views and the way the grass and trees overgrow the tracks in a lot of places.
Yes, we are so used to seeing the videos of tidy main lines. The long grass makes this look a lot less formal and more relaxed bucolic experience. Chill out in the countryside ,dude!
What a beautiful country. It was a lovely ride. Thank you.
Cool video! It shows a side of Japan that isn't ordinarily seen. The group riding the train seemed to be very happy and was enjoying the trip. The train was cool too. I could easily live there.
Beautiful to listen the sound of old 50s tracks train ride must be breath taking
The track conditions on parts of this railroad make it look as though it has almost been abandoned.
Ikr, and i rarely see ppl at the station. But I still enjoy the view
@Concerned Individual I said nothing about any necessity for sightseeing trains, you are likely right on that. I was just expressing a bit of puzzlement over the evident lack of track maintenance, in view of how the Japanese generally otherwise evidently keep their rail systems in such well-manicured conditions, primarily trimming all the trackside weed growth. But perhaps there is not enough money to always 'cover all the bases', as it were.
The best country . I ever been to Tokyo.( From Thailand.)
The Nichinan Line (日南線, Nichinan-sen) is a railway line in south-eastern Kyushu, Japan, operated by Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu). It connects Minami-Miyazaki Station in Miyazaki, Miyazaki to Shibushi Station in Shibushi, Kagoshima.
Enjoyed this train ride very much ! Guess I am kinda surprised at the lack of pedestrians, cars, ets. I always thought Japan was so crowded.
This was more of a suburban to rural line.
Japanese trains are awesome to watch.....not like darn USA trains who constantly blow those damn horns
@@roqueceravolo1969 Realmente, encareceu bastante., Obrigado por me responder, bom domingo!!
Absolutely wonderful,an opportunity to see the real Japan although there was a moment (at around 56.15) when passing the beautiful red 'Torii' I thought we had slipped into a Studio Ghibli animation, the overgrown track and approaching tunnel festooned with foliage, quite magical!
I thought the messages were pre-recorded until we saw the very smart young ladies giving their lesson on the journey, altogether a real delight.
Domo arigato gozaimasu!
Wow, this many palm trees in Japan.
Taiwan and Japan train tracks looks very green.
Its so bizarre to me, seeing lower end neighborhoods that have overgrowth yet not a speck of trash anywhere. it looks soo pretty. I wish it was like this in the US instead of trash being everywhere you go.

What a lovely video and trip. I love the way the operator stops or slows the train so the passengers can have a moment to admire the beautiful view of the coast. The hostesses are a very nice touch, I’d love to take this trip someday. Thank you for sharing, from U.S.
It is almost criminal to take us on this amazingly beautiful ride and not tell us where it is.
It does say where it is - just not in English text!
JR Kyushu Nichinan Line Miyazaki to Nango
[Front view] JR Kyushu Nichinan Line sightseeing limited express "Umisachi Yamasachi" down Miyazaki ⇒ Nango
This is very restful to just sit and watch and take my mind off all the nonsense going on in the world. Also brings back fond memories of travelling along a similar single track line (also Kyushu) back in the early 90s during the winter. I remember the school kids using the train to commute to and from school. I so wish I could just go back there and just stay forever.
