I put the video description into Google translate. It detected this was Japanese. The translation read, "A variety of scenery, such as running along the coastline or running in the deep green mountains You can enjoy this sightseeing limited express "Umisachi Yamasachi". The white side of the car body is covered with the special product "Obi cedar" along the line, which can be used for the interior design Similarly, the interior with plenty of "Obi cedar" is stylish. Two attendants strive to guide and explain at famous places along the line To the final stop, Nango Station, at events such as picture-story shows from "Umisachi Yamasachi" It will work hard so that passengers will not get bored. It was fun."
I also want to assume a couple things, this is light commuter work at low speeds so I want to say the brush and it's roots act as an anchor to the ground for the railroad ties, they may break them down but they still remain in place. It's not like theres heavy work going on the rails anyways so what harm is there for grass? I see more of a use than harm.
I grew up in Aburatsu over 60 years ago and traveled this line many times. The line between Aburatsu and Miyazaki wasn’t completed entirely when I was a child but we spent a lot of time in Kodomonokuni as well as other places where this train travels. Am a little disappointed the line isn’t electrified all the way. Looks like the electrification went to the airport but not south of there. A lot has changed but a lot hasn’t.
Thank you for this video. It is easy to see train videos of the larger train lines in the bigger cities such as Tokyo and Nagoya, and ther main lines. There are not so many for the smaller regional lines. It is interesting to see the smaller coastal towns and the southern countryside. I don't think that I will be able to visit your country, but at least this way I can be a virtual tourist. 😊🚆 The railway looks safe enough, but there are lots of cemeteries along the line. 😮

It was fun.
It's always fantastic to be in the Japan 's Country side. It really gives a very fine feeling. I Love Tokyo and other big Cities mainly due to Neatness and Cleanliness with their own beauties. Still Extremely in Love with County side of Japan.
Think you meant flora for the plant-life. You rarely see fauna (animals) and never see human trespassers. Everyone obeys crossing gates and stays behind the yellow lines at stations. The Japanese seem to have achieved a higher plane of civility. Rick
Yes, we are so used to seeing the videos of tidy main lines. The long grass makes this look a lot less formal and more relaxed bucolic experience. Chill out in the countryside ,dude!

Such a large audience of this video speaks English. Anyway, like most of you, this was in my Recommended, and I have to say, you don't get trains like this anywhere else in the world. It's a tiny, tiny little branchline sortta thing yet they run the trains so fast and everything is so unique, nothing like anywhere else in the world. Such a cool train route. I also love the little train stations along the line. I absolutely love it. Edit: the more I watch it, the more I love it. Like at 28:11 how it just stopped for seemingly no reason, but it almost was like a getting a view?
What a nice train ride through the sub-tropical forest and the wonderful towns. Good job showing the side sidelight sights. Perhaps you could supply some information about what we were looking at along with the hostess's information. Again one of the best rides so far.
I don't know either, but I do know about the geographic effect that causes those straight grid-like lines on the beach @27:00, because I've visited Aoshima shrine*. Cool video! It shows a side of Japan that isn't ordinarily seen. The group riding the train seemed to be very happy and was enjoying the trip. The train was cool too. I could easily live there.
The Nichinan Line (日南線, Nichinan-sen) is a railway line in south-eastern Kyushu, Japan, operated by Kyushu Railway Company (JR Kyushu). It connects Minami-Miyazaki Station in Miyazaki, Miyazaki to Shibushi Station in Shibushi, Kagoshima.

my favorite part of this video starts at 30:30 with the train going fast around the turn into the tunnel, then quickly coming out of the tunnel to gorgeous views and an abandoned train station
Absolutely wonderful,an opportunity to see the real Japan although there was a moment (at around 56.15) when passing the beautiful red 'Torii' I thought we had slipped into a Studio Ghibli animation, the overgrown track and approaching tunnel festooned with foliage, quite magical! I thought the messages were pre-recorded until we saw the very smart young ladies giving their lesson on the journey, altogether a real delight. Domo arigato gozaimasu!
Wow, New York's Long Island Rail Road (From it's Pennsylvania Railroad days) uses the signal shown at 7:28! They have been used for decades and now only a few are left. In New York, that would mean stop, train in the next section!
This is very restful to just sit and watch and take my mind off all the nonsense going on in the world. Also brings back fond memories of travelling along a similar single track line (also Kyushu) back in the early 90s during the winter. I remember the school kids using the train to commute to and from school. I so wish I could just go back there and just stay forever.
I have seen a different video. also from Japan, where they stopped to look at a waterfall and a stream. They even built a viewing platform. Amazing those Japanese!
At 13:37 and again at 36:20 the train goes through a switch which set for the wrong track. The passage of the train forces the switch to change. This seems to be SOP in Japan.

With the amount of fauna on or close to the tracks, definitely the Japanese countryside. Beautiful!
I love that greenery. For some reason, in Europe, we fear that. Grass near tracks for many means that they are undermaintained and look "untidy".
