    Great vídeo Exocage, i for one do not own a Printer. So i started looking for a plastic tube that was 5mm in diameter and cut a 3mm piece. I had a Papermate pen, and it was perfect. I just cut myself a small 3mm piece out and inserted it. Thank you so much... Anyone with out a Printer can just follow my ideal, of creating your own

    Great mod. I upgraded my transfer case to the Deadloc under drive transfer case and skid.

    Isn't that funny and kinda cool how rc enthusiasts have to fix these thing that engineers should've figured out?!...like this and the skid-tumor and so on....
    If you don't have a 3D printer , the inner part of that size of bearing should work.

      Great tip on using a bearing race as a spacer. If there's one thing I have a lot of it's blown up 5-10-4 bearings lol.

    Thanks, looks like a smart and easy thing to do for my Gen 8.

    Thanks for the video Joe. As always very informative. Now dummies like me can understand. At some point in one of your videos, could you possibly show how much grease needs to be in the trans, transfer case, portals, and diffs. I’ve had several discussions with several different opinions on how much should be in each piece. So from an experts view it would be nice to see, so it doesn’t get too much or worse not enough. Thanks as always.

      if only I was an expert. lol I'm just a guy like you with a hobby. Any video I put up showing grease amounts and stuff will just draw debates on how I did it wrong but I'll add it to my list.

      @@ExocagedRC I'm sure, but I'm also sure you get some of that anyways. Can't please everyone. For me and my back ground in working on cars that's a opinionated topic too. But I trust your knowledge

    😁👍Nice mod!! I think you can also just put a little washer spacer in between the gear and the bearing on the shaft to get the same effect...but your Idea is neat you don't have to take the trans apart or probably out of the truck!....wish I had a 3D printer so I can make one for my gen 8! Good stuff!

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 лет назад +1

      I tried that before this with shims and it helped but was not as good as this. You can stack shims in the place this spacer goes and get the same thing. I put a link to a set from Kyosho in the description.

      @@ExocagedRC Right on I don't have a 3d printer so I just got back from the workshop and figured a easy way you can do this with some traxxas washers I had laying around ... I was going to post up my video but wanted to ask if you mind...I will be mentioning you as the person who came up with the idea and also linking your video in my description. Let me know I think what I did will make a lot of guy's be able to do this very easy.

      @@ExocagedRC Cool thanks bud! I think with the washers I used they are super easy to get a hold of so more guy's will be able to do your mod much more easy.

    Will be interesting to see how long this 3D printed shim lasts. The cool thing though is if it starts wearing down you can just print another.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 лет назад

      True. It should be ever get any wear as everything is turning together. You can also just use normal metal shims too.

    • @DFDuck55
      @DFDuck55 5 лет назад +1

      I just got a 3D printer earlier this week, so I may as well try this. Though all I have is PLA, which might not last as long as PLA, but should last plenty long enough. And as you say, if it does end up wearing out I can always replace it with metal shims, or a short length of brass tubing.

    Hi Joe, just passing on something I found out this evening as I was putting my new transmission and transfer case together. Decided to go ahead and have some spare bearings, pins etc.. so when ordering, I couldn't find the 5x10x4 bearings available from Redcat so got the Schumacher set. It includes shims in the set.. 4 of 1.5 and .45mm steel shims. They work great for hitting up all the loose spots, transmission and transfer.. may even work down in the Diffs.

    • @ExocagedRC
      @ExocagedRC  5 лет назад

      awesome, I always appreciate info on these things. I almost always have a stock on bearings and shims on hand, with all the stuff I build they are very nice to have around.

    I stripped the gear in the transfer case I turned the gear around and notched the backside so the pin sits flush and it works like a new one

    So I just recently bought my Redcat Jenny about a week ago and today I just got done watching your video and I immediately took my Redcat gen 8 apart to see if mine has the same problem turns out red cat has fixed it by putting a little metal sleeve in there the same size as the plastic one that your showing on your video, so maybe on the newer Red Cat gen 8 v2 models they fixed at problem.
