The death of Josip Broz Tito President of Yugoslavia. A divisive figure amongst some of his people, but generally he was respected by most of his country and internationally he was a very popular figure. He was a key figure of the Non-Aligned movement. 10 years after his death, Yugoslavia the country which he held together dissolved into a series of interethnic wars which spanned a decade.
Lincoln was far from done. He had so much to do during Reconstruction, since the South would have fought all laws to make former slaves equal. Remember, the white landowners were a minority. Voting rights for the large majority of former slaves should have made the fully in charge, and working hard to stop any violence. Instead the opposite happened. It shows that only Lincoln would have made Reconstruction work in a positive way. Yes, he had MOST of his second term ahead of him, yet Reconstruction was NOT done in 4 years, neither would the new social hierarchy in the South be customary in just a few years. Lincoln probably would have served 3 or even 4 terms to complete Reconstruction. At which point he would be even more resented by the former power brokers of the South, but would forever be a hero to the new people in power in the South. The former slaves, and their children.
Not a murder, but an honourable mention should go to Josef Broz Tito. Although he was undeniably a dictator in Yugoslavia, he was a crucial part of keeping it stable. With his death in 1980 aged 87, Yugoslavia became less and less stable as ethnic tensions, amongst other factors, began to boil over as the 80's turned into the 90's. Eventually, the various republics that made up Yugoslavia not only voted for independence, but with some exceptions went to war against each other. The result left Yugoslavia disappearing from the map by 2003 with 6 fully independent states, plus one partially recognised state, emerging from the wreckage of Yugoslavia
Ferdinand and Sophia (Archduke and his wife) were only 50 and 46 when the were killed and she was pregnant with their 4th child (5th if you count the stillborn a few years earlier)
Martin Luther King's death only got an honorable mention is actually an insult to his life and legacy. What parameters did you use to create this list.🤷♀️
His death was one of the most heartbreaking. I'm not sure if it sort of had a huge impact on the trajectory of the country. His words during his life did that not his death.

Well, she's not wrong on the largest religion best as can be gathered. Though the numbers are off, it's closer to a quarter For context, the numbers are coming from census data. Self reporting. I don't know about anywhere else but there is an insane amount of fear mongering here around census time when it comes to religion (it's disgusting). Then of course you have those that consider themselves Christian but are holiday Christians or not practising in any way. Essentially population surveys and censuses, the only way to get this information, are notoriously unreliable and people lie on them all the time. Make of all this information (you didn't ask for) what you will.

@@1KyleStevenson Changing the beliefs and creeds of over half of Earth’s population is a pretty significant effect. Your argument is like saying police make no difference because some people still commit crimes.
They should have left Saddam Hussein alone, he served his purpose as a blocking power to Iran, he had no weapons of mass destruction and he had no desire to attack the US or the west, he just wanted to be in power, and while he was in power, terrorists like ISIS were health with a strong first. Iraq needed a strong first, we didn't understand that.
Since they always give that assassination as the start of WW1 I always asked why the war wasn't fought in Serbia, Hungary or Austria? Seems that had little to do with the actual war. Seems Germany wanted to run all of Europe and were starting with France. Next time around they went with Poland first and France just gave up, which prevented all the damage to France that was done during WW1, thus during WW2 France mostly survived intact. Mostly. The French Resistance was far more effective against Nazis than they were fighting directly in WW1. It helped to have people the Nazis trusted giving up schedules and other information to the Resistance. I do wonder how many French people the Nazis labeled as spies for the Resistance, and executed as such, that were not spies, just people that rubbed them the wrong way. Seriously, go to France and observe the people serving you food, and all service jobs. French people hate those jobs and do them poorly. The friendly French people are in high paying jobs that engage them. Not really different anywhere. Except when you get recent immigrants who came from impoverished nations. They are extremely happy to have any job, and that shows in how they do their jobs and in how they treat customers.
I'm surprised Nelson Mandela wasn't mentioned. Another important figure was Benazhir Bhutto wasn't mentioned. Perhaps if she had become president (or prime minister?) the US would have had greater cooperation from Pakistan on trying to find bin Laden. How about the murder assissination of Czar Nicholas II of Russia? His death opened the way for Communism. Some people believe Stalin was murdered in his sleep by someone from his inner circle. It didn't end Communism but his successor Leonid Brezhnev wanted to make better changes in the old USSR.

Since the Shah did little to realize the great civilization he espoused, the US would have been better served to demand his outer, and to implement a Constitutional Democracy. Allow the religious to rule, to make law, but make it illegal via the Constitution for them to create a theocracy. Religious freedom, but with a majority of Muslims who were free to worship as they wished, but to allow them to have multiple Muslim sects so that some may be free to allow women to do as they like and to contribute. Though they would need to help Iran financially, but also to force Iran to use the wealth that had been hoarded, and the income from oil, for the betterment of the people. To have this accomplished by 1979, to prevent the Islamic Revolution certainly should have started in 1959, when the CIA put the Shah into power in the first place. Perhaps the State Department, and NOT the CIA, should be responsible for US relations with other countries. Certainly none of it should be done just to make wealthy US oil companies wealthier.
Just one problem with the idea of Jesus - so little evidence has been found to confirm his existence that it is arguable that he was a fictional character derived from a number of pre-existing deities, including Mithras and Dionysos.
