Both of my brothers are severe hoarders. My sister in law kept one of my brothers in check for many years. As her health declined, my brother became worse. There was only a small path to their bedroom, kitchen, and bathroom. The entire front patio was filled as high as the roof. It was terrible to clean when she passed.

@@moonshine2308 Interesting, thank you for sharing. In the US, the fifty American states are considered as separate sovereigns with their own state constitutions, state governments, and state courts. State laws have dramatically diverged in the centuries since independence, to the extent that the United States cannot be regarded as one legal system as to the majority of types of law traditionally under state control, but must be regarded as 50 separate systems of tort law, family law, property law, contract law, criminal law, and so on. There can even be fights over which state has jurisdiction in matters like inheritance, if there is no Will. Generally speaking, a Will take precedence in all 50 states, even so consult a lawyer since things can get complex real quick.

Karen & Richard are ironically similar but different, both wasted money on hobbies & stuff the only difference is that Karen is wasting her husband's money while Richard is using his own money. I get the feeling thanks to everything going on Karen will eventually be forced to get a job or part time job since Kevin's ego makes him refuse to go for part time jobs.(Another irony, not wanting to help out with her FIL but now has to help her husband)
I'm glad Lauren doesn't have to deal with her useless son & DIL anymore, I hope she makes friends with someone in her new new nursing home & gets adopted into their family as the honorary aunt/great aunt or something because she deserves to have a loving family even if she's just the friend that in a way got adopted into the family.

Kevin doesn't realize, that his Parents savings are for his Parents to live on, and if they choose to leave him anything, its not his business. Kevin and H Kare. Sre selfish. They wouldn't help with his Dad, at qll. Sonlike most elderly couples, when one is very ill needing a lot of care, The Ill spiuse is better off in a Nursing home. Then the Remaing spouse will be able to monitor their loved one and remain healthy.

The really sad thing is, the son lost his job, refused to help his mother and refused to go to his Dad's funeral and still demanded her house and money before he was in the ground. They made a deal they could have the House if they went no contact yet they both called her complaining and wanting the money she saved to live on in her old age. He had no right to any of it. If the house is in her name she can sign it over as her payment to stay in the home. Her son would end up with what he deserved, nothing.

In my country, acording to the law you come and break in and move in the house that is not yours, they call the police and the police kicks you out. You are not repoted living on that adress, you cant stay. They can kick you out. You cant just move in and say get out. Even if you manage to do so, they sue you and in the end you will have to pay for all the court fees and all the rent that you were not paying to the owner. Even if the owner is your parent. The intruders might stay and lived there untill the court does it's part and that lasts very long in my country, but the owner just sells the house and the intruders have to move out. If they wont the police will evict them. Only if you are repoted living in that house they cant evict you if you lived there for longer then 10 years. Then the la says tha the owner of te house let them live there. And they have the right to stay.
But as for the inheritance you cant demand to inherit anything. The mother could just sighn the contract with someone called contract of life long support. You are leaving everything to that person and they take care of you and all your needs till the day you die. Your kids cant get anything. Because some elderly people were abusing that contract and breaking it and not leaving nothing for those who took care of them for years. And then leaving everything to their children.
So these days if your parents sighn that, you dont get nothing. You didn't take care f them, so you dont get nothng. Also, te mother could sell the house and pay the senior citizent home with that money. They would get nothing. Inheritance is not guarsnteed to be given to kids in my country. You can get some, or you can get nothing. But no, legaly you cant just move into someone house and kick the owner out.

That was so stupid. She shouldn't have left just because her son and wife decided that they want her to leave. Not only that, unless there is a will, when someone passes, their belongings go to the surviving spouse. Also in the real world, NO one who is capable of caring for themselves and of sound of mind will not be able to live in a nursing home. That is for people who need ongoing care and can't do things for themselves and aren't able to get enough care to stay in their home. It MIGHT be a translation issue as older people can to into senior housing or possible assisted living.
I know these are fictional, but it's annoying that people are such pushovers in these stories. But it's all my fault that I keep listening to these. I always want to see if these people will stand their ground or call the police when needed and have someone who committed serious crimes to actually go to prison.
