I actually saw a video where Vader was asked what dove him. He said, "Hatred." When asked of what, he responded, "Myself."
I thought I hated Lord Vader. Turns out you're right. No one hates him more than himself. Especially the fact that he tried to take his life few times when he was first wearing the suit in the Darth Vader comics.
This series made me see that Vader isn’t cool
Vader is tragedy
Is pain
Is a broken man that fall apart
And all of this thanks to Hayden, I don’t care what people say to me Vader is Hayden and Obi Wan is Ewan
I understand what you actually mean, but the way it’s worded sounds like a burn on Hayden
Revenge of the sith was already a tragedy. People so slow. But yes. This scene is brilliant
Having been in my teens with the prequels, the Hayden Christensen redemption arc from this show has been low key amazing and I’m happy for him. That poor guy took YEARS of unfair criticism thanks to a horrid script and yet he came back. And this show offered him his own closure.

They he said it with the transition of Hayden and Jones’ voices gave a lot of goosebumps, and filled me with tears
I interpreted that as Anakin saying that to Obi-wan in that second before Vader came back.
This was Anakin's best quote. It sounded just like him.

It was almost like Anakin came back for a split second to say that it wasn't Obi-Wans fault...but that regardless, it was too late. What's done is done and still had to destroy him. Still had that hatred.
Personally, I think that was Vader telling him he wasn’t the one who defeated Anakin. That Vader was the one who did it.
Vader didn’t come to because Obi Wan failed, he came up because he defeated Anakin Skywalker.
That’s the way I took it

@@mattmart1345 yes you’re right. which is why the blue light projects on his face for a moment there before turning to red. Anakin slipped through to try and give Obi-Wan closure before the rage of Vader consumed him again
I'm sorry Anakin....for all of it...that moment...heartbreaking because wasn t just on Anakin of his fall, the Council, Ahsoka leaving, even Obi-Wan himself played a part in his fall too.
I feel like obi wan was just always too hard on anakin. Obi wan meant well but anakin heard the frustration in his tone and took it personally, while Obi Wan didn’t mean to upset him.
@@robbydudley1124 You're not wrong he was at times, perhaps he saw it as a way of keeping Anakin in line of sorts and more focused, but it didn't work. That's because like many Jedi of the time like Mace WIndu, Yoda nad others he was a strict follower of the Code. It's why Qui-Gon would have been the better teacher because while he did believe in the Code...he also believed in doing what is right which did into always line up with the Code nor the Council wanted but he didn't care and did it anyway. Plus Qui-Gon understood and believed in compassion too and not repressing feelings so much. I truly believe that under Qui-Gon's tutelage that Anakin would have realized his full potential as the CHosen one and reached that balance of light and dark and not fallen to the Darkside.

The sad part is that Obi-Wan very likely reflected on the time he spent with Anakin, including the times he berated and belittled him.
The worst times he did it were both on Mustafar; when he arrived, with his hands on his hips staring him down and when he told Anakin he was lost for not realizing that Palpatine was evil. Instead of proving it, he gave into his frustration and lambasted him for not realizing it.

Vader betrayed and murdered your father. The good man who was your father was destroyed.
He is more machine now than man, twisted an evil.
In the end all comes together and Obi-Wan spoke the truth, not just from a certain point of view

You can hear Anakin's sad voice being modulated to sound menacing through the mask.
So glad to know that Vader is redeemed at the end, and Anakin can now live in the next life.
Also, I think Vader wanted Obi-Wan to kill him and end his suffering. That's why he was angry at the end.

To me I always saw Vader as a tragedy...in many ways Anakin too. Of how far ya can fall if you are pushed to that in a way like he was. Obi-Wan Kenobi did a very good job of adding more depth to hin than we got before I think.

Basically admitting that he fu**ed up badly.
In the end, Anakin screwed Anakin.

I’m sorry, I’m sorry Anakin, for all of it.
It’s sad to see the good man that was once Anakin happily take credit for who he is now. I know a lot of people say it was his way of absolving Obi Wan of guilt. But I like the idea that he’s been so twisted by the dark side that he sees himself as the best version of himself. And he’s not gonna let anyone else take credit for that.
He definitely isn’t proud of himself, “I am what remains” shows that he can acknowledge that he’s a shell of his former self
@@fo8016 Maybe… I’ve kinda gone back and forth with this. To me, it seems like he at the very least wants Obi-Wan to think that. Kinda like when you see an ex and want them to think you’re doing great.

Not true at all brother. Its canon I would suggest reading the comments or watching fallen angel its a star wars shorts which brings a scene from the comics and books to life. Anakin became a sith due to the council - losing his mother, they took away his apprentice and forced him to keep his relationship with Padme a secret. When he feared for the last person he loved dying they scorned and ridiculed him. He saw Qui Gon die as well all this hurt him beyond belief. The Jedi Council's hubris broke him and drove him into Sidious who manipulated a man desperate to save the ones he loves. Ìn the comics I think there is a scene where It says no one hates Darth Vader more than Vader. He is struggling to survive in the suit designed to contain him that he just stays alive to atone for his rage and let it guide him to make others the galaxy feel the pain it caused him. He has even tried to off himself but his guilt keeps him alive

Spoilers for SW Rebels in case those that are planning on seeing it:
Rebels did a fantastic job with this as well when Ahsoka does the same thing, but hits the opposite side of Vader's mask. When she see's that it's Anakin, she tells him that she won't leave him. For a moment, it's actually enough that you can see the same hesitation in Anakin, before the dark side engulfs him. It's symbolically like taking chinks of the armor off of him before Luke finally pulls him out of it.
