QUESTION: What cruise packing tip would you add?
pack your essential vitamins; and some travel sized aspirin, pepto bismal and other things just in case you have an upset stomach. Better to pack than go to the ship's store and pay outrageous $$$. Happy sailing.
A good pair of binoculars especially if you have a balcony. You would be surprised what you see up close.
I pack a water proof case to put cards and money in it so I can keep it safely with me when I swim during excursions. I fellow cruiser also gave me the idea to bring large clothes pins to secure beach towels to chairs.
☝🏻2-way radios...especially when traveling with family!!!
Can't begin to tell you all the fun we've shared with each other when cell phones weren't used like they are today...it's like not having a penny to make a wish at a fountain 😉☝🏻
I am former military and I have checklists for the pre-cruise hotel (what to pack), embarkation (and cruise stay - what to pack) and finally a night before debarkation checklist. The night before debarkation was required after I had left my sign and sail card in shorts that I packed - - needed it to leave the ship - - had to go to Cruise Services and get another.
Things that I always pack:
Nightlight for the cabin (and sometimes battery-operated tea lights) because the cabins get very dark.
A small first aid kit with a few of each of the following: Band-aids, motion sickness pills, a cough drops, anti-diarrhea pills, benadryl, anti-itch cream, ibuprofin, etc. Basically anything that you think you may need. This saves a lot of money as opposed to buying from the shops ibuprofen,
We are very frugal and don't typically like to pay for beach chairs so I throw an old bed sheet in our suitcase to take to the beach.
Commuter mug to fill up with coffee or juice in the morning.. It's nice to be able to fill up and then walk around the ship, take to the cabin or up on deck. Plus if you fill up with one of the juices that they only serve in the morning like the orange juice and guava passion fruit blend, you can mix the juice with champagne to make a mimosa. I have also used the mug to add juice and red wine with cut up fruit to make sangria.
Speaking of beverages, we always bring one bottle of wine or champagne per person on board. One allowed per person in cabin 21 years old or older. The bottles must be in your carry on when you board the ship. Don't forget a corkscrew if needed, otherwise will charge you a corkage fee. Or better get bring twist off wine bottles. For those that drink soft drinks, Carnival will also allow a 12 pack of cans. (You cannot bring beer on board.)
If you have any medical equipment such as a CPAP that requires electric, bring an extension cord. No surge protectors allowed.
I always bring a couple portable battery backups for my cell phone, especially for the islands when you may not be able to charge your phone. I tend to take a LOT of photos and videos and those backups do come in handy.
A few disposable rain ponchos that we throw in our beach bags. In the Caribbean, there could be pop-up rain storm and you will be glad you have them to keep yourself and your stuff dry.
I could keep going but those are my must haves for cruising.
Thanks for the rain poncho reminder. We are packing now for a cruise.
You need a blog with all this good info. I definitely took notes.
I like to keep a plastic kitchen size garbage bag to separate soiled clothes, from regular items, in suitcase, especially if not planning to wash on ship!
Great, great tip! I do the same thing! Thanks for sharing!
@@TheTravelScouts Plastic grocery bags also work well.
👍🏾
Yes Sir yeeeeeee, bob ..... I do the same thing. I also take a 2nd large trash bag in the event that my lower back starts to bother. I lay it flat on my hotel room floor, lay on it and stretch my back for a good 30 minutes. This is better than laying on the bare floor.
Along with the shoe advice, some people are surprised when they see the walkways(not a sidewalk like we have when we go to town) that exist in ports. Some are nothing more than packed dirt, that can become a muddy mess in the rain, some are cobblestone and extremely uneven(be careful), some are broken pavement, and everything in between. Shoes with the closed toes, comfy, and supportive(a sole that you can’t feel every little rock through) are so important. Like your video points out so well, a little precruise thinking about what to pack can make the cruise memorable for all the right reasons. LOVE a your videos.
I am a "nomad" cruiser. I crossed the Atlantic with only a carry-on!
Love the flexibility and sense of freedom.
Oh wow! Impressive!
That’s awesome
If husband and wife are traveling together split your clothes into two bags. Half your clothes half his clothes in one bag.
Bring magnets with hooks. The walls a metal, so they will you extra room to hang things.
Hi Mary! Great tip! We definitely love and use the magnetic hooks! Thanks for sharing!
Great video Jason. I'm a super light packer for a cruise. I always take 2-3 less shirts than I need because I usually buy a shirt in port. Also stuff your shoes with smaller items to help save space.
Great tips my friend!
Night light for bathroom trips
Get the car tree air freshners. Hang one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom. Balcony rooms can have an ocean smell.
After my first cruise, I learned a good lesson. I love clothes and I know when we reach our destination the thing I will be buying most is clothes, so I only bring my formal, my night clothes and the clothes on my back and two empty suitcases. Whatever I need I can buy on the ship or in port.
We have been on over 20 cruises, and we have learned to do all 10, You give the best info.
We take binoculars, a small sewing kit, and plastic bags. The water shoes that you mentioned are vital for all water activities, especially dolphin swims.
We both take carry-ons only for all lengths of trips. (Actually, mine is a 19 incher!) I take only polyester, non-wrinkle clothing, a tiny screwdriver (eye glass repair kit), have a pocketed hanger for small bathroom or other items which can hang on the back side of the bathroom door. (I sewed my own).
Lysol for bathroom. Pack early.
Small travel sewing kit in case you need a button or a seam rips.
Our travel tip..............A travel towel. It takes up way less space in your bag, and is alot lighter. Plus you don't have to worry about loosing the cruise line towel and being charged for it. Hope y'all are all doing well.
Hi Jonathan! So good hearing from you! I hope you and your family are doing well. Great additional tip! Thanks for chiming in!
Bring some tide pods or other types of detergent pods. I was recently on the conquest and NONE of the laundry areas had detergent, on any floor, all out. Thankfully someone from our Facebook group brought some and shared with everyone. From now on, I will bring detergent pods along with me when we cruise.
My wife says “Don’t send anything white to the ship laundry - it will return gray”. I can second that it is what happened to us. Thanks for the video.
Or sometimes it looks like red or black burn marks are on them. I’m guessing the dryer did it.
Great tip for the 1st timers.
We always like to bring a small clock (must have a battery backup) the one we bring has a night light. Room can get pretty dark for late night trip to the bathroom.
I don't drink coffee, Michele does and the creamer tip can come in handy.
Great Post!!!
Thanks Friend! Appreciate you two! And congrats on the 1K subs!
@the travel scouts remind people who have wrinkled clothes that Downy Wrinkle Release is a great product to use.
On your meds, if you have a prescription -bring the bottles. If something happens along the way, you can more easily get them refilled. -We have a small fan we bring with us. We've slept with a fan for a LONG time and can't sleep without it. -This is the adapter my husband bought, and it saved us on our last cruise -small and compact. Multi Plug Power Cube, Huntkey Wall Outlet Splitter with USB 4 AC Outlets 3 USB Charging Ports Charger for Phone Charge, Kitchen, Home, Bathroom, Travel -We always bring an insulated water bottle for each of us.
Hi Debbie! Super, super tips! Thanks for sharing these with everyone!
Carnival cabin stewards will bring you a fan if you ask for one.
"On your meds, if you have a prescription -bring the bottles. If something happens along the way, you can more easily get them refilled."
That's why I'm bringing my 'controls' in their bottles, to make sure, if asked/required to show that they are for ME.
Bring a very small night light of some sort if you are in an inside cabin so it is easy to find the bathroom. We either use a very small and dim LED one when we are on a newer ship or a small battery one on an older whip that has very few outlets.
First time Cruisers here. Loved the content 🙏
A small night light for the bathroom that way you won’t have to turn on that bright bathroom light in the middle of the night when you have to use it
Be sure to bring plenty of quarters for the laundry as there is not a change machine anywhere in laundry
I bring 2 night lights, a trash bags for dirty laundry. A checklist to pack with.
We cruised to Canada in September, it was cold. I will pack a coat for the ship. Once dock, it was much warmer on land.
Yes, I got both water and regular shoes being packed. Great video
Awesome. And, thanks for watching!
L O V E your channel! it's helped us so much preparing for our upcoming cruise. thanks for tips, infos, hacks, suggestions... they are very helpful! we recommend your channel to others
Great word!!!
Wonderful Tips! I’m going on the Celebration 🎉 in August 2024 and I didn’t think to bring coffee creamer 🤯 adding to my list NOW
PACK POLARIZED SUNGLASSES! the first ever time i went on a cruise i didn’t do this and it caused my eyes to get sunburned
thanks fo the video. I am packing for my first Carnival Cruise in September
That's awesome! Hope you have a super cruise!
Be sure to take zip lock bags, I like to take two different sizes, they can be used for lots of creative things, Also I take my powered coffee creamer in them…
Been watching your videos lately as I'm going on my second cruise in my lifetime, but this will be my FIRST cruise as an adult the first one I went on I was 16 when I left and came back as 17 because the cruise was for my 17th birthday.
This year my fiance and his family and I are going on a cruise; this will be my fiance's first cruise!
Good tips! Thanks.
Thanks Tom! Appreciate you watching my Friend!
I leave on my first cruise in a few hours. Thanks for the tips
Hi Mayra! That is exciting! Hope you have the best cruise ever!!
Have a wonderful cruise! Make lots of memories from those relation moments to the WOW moments, and take lots of pics to get you through to that next cruise. Cruise withdrawal can be brutal 😉
Woohoo! Have a blast
Great information! Would like to add a waterproof jacket (for rain) and umbrella (rain and sun).
Hi Diana! Yes, those are great additions! Thanks for chiming in! Kellie and I were so bummed we didn't get to cruise with you two on the Glory. One day, Lord willing! Thanks for watching!
After my 1st cruise (Jan 2024), I have a "not to pack" tip.
I know many people bring a nightlight, that's good.
Last cruise, we kept the bathroom light on and crack-opened the door.
I'm booking for my 2nd cruise, but 1st Carnival Caribbean. 😀
Happy cruising, everyone 🛳
On formal nights, my husband and I dress like we're going to church. I always take a light jacket.
Hi Sarah! Thanks for chiming in! We appreciate you!
Jason mentioned a jacket for inside if it's AC'd...women can take a pashima/shawl.
My favorite jack is making sure to ask for a robe! I mear mins All over the ship 😂😂!
Great video‼️
But Kelly should be in it with you. 😂
Btw: I luv your singing.
We use Stur water flavoring at the restaurant and I use it in cans of pop so I get blueberry diet Pepsi when I want it.
I've only been on one cruise. I was sick the whole time. It was my dad's last cruise before he died at almost 90 and my very 1st. I'm going to do it again, but I don't know when because I need to get money 1st. I heard taking a shoe organizer is a really big help and we did. That and the outlet adapter were very helpful.
Side note on seasick medicine. Guess what the side effect of taking too much is? Nausea. That's probably why i was so ill the entire cruise. Live and learn!
Good to know!!!
I just came back from Celebrity Solstice cruise 2 weeks ago.
That was my 1st cruise ever.
I brought seasick medicine, ginger candy...
But to my surprise, I didn't get seasick at all.
Even there was one sailing day, we felt the ship really rocking because of high wind (we could hear the wind "screamed" outside). We had to grab the rails when walking in the hallway, but still didn't feel seasick.
Sugary goodness for coffee, I agree!😀
Don't leave home without it! Lol
Yes, I like coffee in my cream! 😆
Bring large load magnetic hooks, you can hang stuff in your room (hats, bags, jackets, etc) walls are metal.
thanks
How far in advance can we find out the activities on our cruise? Like when formal nights are or theme nights? I'm going in September.
Coat hangers, it helps to hang wrinkle clotges in br
Two videos where your thumbnail shows not to pack softsided luggage, and both times nothing about soft sided luggage,
thank you we are upcoming first time cruisers going to Alaska
Dress in layers. And bring a water resistant jacket for Ketchikan ~ literally a rainforest area. if you’re visiting early or late in the season it’s cooler than you think.
The formal night thing happened to me on my last cruise so I was wearing shorts and a t shirt and I was so embarrassed
I like flavored Keurig type cappuccino in the morning and have found you don’t need a machine to enjoy them. Just open, pour into hot water and stir. May even bring some to the dining room and ask for a cup of hot water with dessert. I’ll be saving $$$ on my next cruise!
Same thing with my chai tea.
CAVEAT: I have to bring sealed bags/containers for my chair. Ziploc containers of my chai won't be allowed.
@@lynneshapiro3248 Yes, I was going to bag mine up in individual little ziplocks, but my boyfriend said it looked too much like drugs and he wasn’t going to miss the boat while I was being held for possible possession. Lol
@@SteelgirlUSA BINGO. That's why I ordered the smaller 'cans' of chai.
Hey, who knows? Somebody smuggling some sort of powder could easily disguise it with the scent of chai. /s
I always pack my water bottle. (Swell) always have cold water.
On another video you mention bringing coffee creamer(single containers) …is that packed in your checked bag? Or carry on? It’s a liquid ..just wondering.
I'm bringing those weird toe shoes. That counts as comfort and water shoes
Jason one question if there is a destination and it's raining 🌧️ what we should pack, can I use an umbrella or what?
Great Video
Thanks Vince! Appreciate you watching!
Anytime
A small first aid kit or DIY first aid kit
Can you bring liquid creamer or does it need to be powdered?
We're going to Alaska in August of 2003what type of closing should we pack
Can I bring on cigars? I’m readying I am and if so should it be on my carry on?
We are going to Greenland mid- September. Any advice on what to pack. It's 14 day cruise on Jewel of the Seas.
Add a sewing kit or a diy sewing kit in case you have a rip or tear to clothing
Would a woman's purse or fanny pack count as her carry on or would she be allowed to have backpack or carry on suitcase with her purse or fanny pack?
Do you have one of these for Royal Caribbean? Or would you be open to making one ?
We have been bringing the flavored coffee creamer “pods” for years. If we fly, we put them in the checked bag. We have never had a problem bringing them on the ship.
I like to take a lot of herbal supplements with vs. medications how strict are they with bringing my supplements?
I will be going on my first cruise ever with Carnival next month. Super excited and I appreciate the tips you gave. One thing I need to ask about ironing clothes, is it free or do we have to pay something for that too?
No irons are allowed on the ships. Some have laundry room with ironing boards and irons. Royal does not. It is not free unless you are a Diamond and above member.
my husband and love taking photos with our phones but we are always leary leaving our phones sitting in the beach bag while we are in the pool, ocean, etc. We bring an older smart phone that we can take photos with so we can leave our primary phones on the stateroom. when we agent home we download all the pics onto our computer. this way if the phone gets stolen all we have lost is some pictures.
How do my wife and I pack the pineapples?
If you're worried about sea sickness. My advice is don't start your cruise on an empty stomach. Be sure to eat something.
FANTASTIC advice!! Thank you, Paul!
YES and do NOT do anything citrus! Toast etc is best, I made the mistake and ate only fresh oranges and boy we were all sick !!
8:39pm (local Sydney) - thank you for your awesome insights and info!
Has anyone articulated any guidelines and/or restrictions around number, size and weight of bags on any/all of the major cruise lines?
I don't know about all cruise lines.
I had Celebrity cruise at the beginning of this year (my 1st cruise)
They don't weigh or measure or count our bags like those "Karen" airlines.
We just tipped the guy(s) who handled our bags.
To the veteran cruisers 🚢~ I have a question Do the cruises have Lipton tea? I need it for digestion according to my doctor
Or should I bring my own Lipton tea bags?
Wait, wait, wait…about the self-serve laundry… can I not iron my clothes in the laundry room on the new ships like Mardi Gras or Celebration?
Downy Wrinkle release is a great product. Unpack your clothes, any that are wrinkled spritz with Downy, hang in the bathroom run the shower on hot a short time and the wrinkles fall out. Or if the wrinkles are not that bad, gently tug the items and let air dry. Do NOT drown clothes in spray. A little bit will do it.
1:00 What's "a little"?😂
Don’t forget to bring your favorite soda cans.
Do you bring the little single serve creamer or a bottle with liquid creamer?
I brought single serve creamers and Jason brought the powder
Make sure it's not glass that can break.
Can the coffee creamer be liquid.
It's liquid as the TSA define liquid Is anything that can be poured or spread.
I don't drink coffee, but I think you can bring powder cream.
After 70 cruises, we found you need more than a little cash. There are lots of tips to be handed out. Give your room steward a tip on the first day and they'll be your friend forever, Also at the end of the cruise, give extra tips. I keep all my shoes and purses in a suitcase under the bed, instead of in the closet. That way I just slip it out, take what I need for that night and push back under. It keep the closet neat.
ABSOLUTELY tipping your room steward AND my server.
So just to confirm you give cash tips on top of the automatic gratuity charge that is added per person per day?
We tip room steward, waiter, assistant waiter, and anyone else that has made our cruise experience a good one. I even tip the girls cleaning the restrooms and those cleaning the floors. I feel they are left out. It feel so good to see the smiles on their faces because they don't expect it.
It all depends on the ship and what kind of stateroom you have. On Royal they all the tips to your account everyday. Some people prepay their gratuities before the cruise. On Celebrity, you can pick a stateroom where they are included but the stateroom will be much more expensive.
@@kymulina1499 They don't get much because a lof of it goes to other workers.
like to to doj daily because they might need to buy somethinmg ashore.
Do you still post about Everest
Yes. It is on this channel: ruclips.net/channel/UCLffAlqvsYVzpaBw98j8DTw
Question… goi nag on first Carnival cruise in August. Do you have to use hard sided luggage, or is soft okay?
Soft is ok :)
I've literally seen people bring their mesh laundry bags with luggage tags on it! They took them along with everyone else's!🤣
Ice cream in coffee is better than creamer
Eww
@@emcee2017 how?
☝🏻2-way radios...especially when traveling with family!!!
Can't begin to tell you all the fun we've shared with each other when cell phones weren't used like they are today...it's like not having a penny to make a wish at a fountain 😉☝🏻
How fun!
Don't really need that nowadays with most cruise lines having their own app that you can chat with.
Have you cruised on carnival spirit? We are looking forward to it but are a bit nervous! Testing… flights eek! Help!
If your flying to the port bring a luggage scale.
Thanks for watching and chiming in with the tip!
You two have surprised me with your videos. I first watched and thought here's another Buffy and Biff couple doing cruise videos wow was I wrong. You two have done a fantastic job. Sorry I judged before really watching you two. Keep up the great work.
What counts as an older ship? What years?
I’m not sure how old is the old, but I know a 2006 cruise only has one or two outlets. One near the desk and maybe one in the bathroom.
@@ashleyboss5544
You're absolutely right. Celebrity Solstice was built in 2008. The stateroom only has 2 outlets as you said.
I heard newer ships have the outlet at the bedside.
Ziplocs
How many pieces of luggage can you have per person ?
Doesn't matter but there's not much room inside to have multi bags. I bring one over sized suitcase. (to have room to bring back stuff) I pack in half of it and my wife buys enough s**t to use the other side. :)
Disposable Poncho's
Yep.
Or use a large outside garbage bin liner. Good for a once off. Cut a hole for your head and arms.
Stuff it in your bag, if it doesn’t get used, no harm.
So sad
Stop judging people Stop being a mean Person You need to🛑 judging people Nobody not gonna listen to you
