Today this topic resonates with me 💯👍🏾👌🏾50 years old NEVER been married & I don't have children. Family & companionship is good that I appreciate it when I see it every where. I'm content being single, it was my personal choice. I get to babysit my nieces & nephews & grandchildren & I have respect for parents even the single parents 💯by the end of the day I'm exhausted.
Not many of your circumstances can say that. The fact that you are comfortable with your life, kudos. It is noteworthy that, if the social media grapevine is true, Susan Kihika (52) is in the US to have her baby. Different people. Different choices.
Everything you mentioned about Kenyan men remaing single later in life is spot on. The same applies to women here in America. After settling for men who i wasn't compatible with, I finally decided to remain single and celibate. It's been 15 years and I couldn't be happier. It would take a lot of convincing for me to date anyone. I also fear that someone would look at what I have and take advantage of me. At this point, I would only want a companion without the relationship baggage.

As social circles become smaller, we almost always tend to give little to no effort when it comes to dating. As a middle aged single woman with no kids in the diaspora, I can relate to so many of the things you have talked about.

Mutua has a beautiful home in his rural area. Those who follow his channel know because he showed in his videos. Many people have homes in urban places and also in the village.

Single can traverse different scenarios: by choice e.g. decided family of your own doesn’t jive with you, single due to separation and most painful one due to passing of own spouse (widow/widower). Most identify with the most former ie by choice and forget other ways single hood comes about.

Some had a traumatic childhood or past relationship experience with that affected their decision to remain single. My cousin got married after being abroad for 30 yrs. Over the years, everyone tried to hook him up with neighbor, sister and grandmother but wapi? There would be a line up of interviews each time he visited Kenya. Finally in his late 40's he met his Asian soul mate for real. For him the key factor was being intellectual compatibility.
I have land in Kitengela but my sister discouraged me from building apartments there. I already have Apartments in a Nairobi suburb that are always occupied. What's so bad about Kitengela? I left Kenya years ago, so there's a lot I don't know. I don't want to put my money in American stocks like I did before, I would rather build back home.
Kitengela is a booming area due to increased population. You can never go wrong with Kitengela. The only cons is the not-so good horizontal infrastructure. That's mainly due to it not being in Nairobi County but Kajiado. I'm a realtor and i can advise you to go for it.

Secondly I think beyond a certain age, men or women are complacent in their set ways and may not necessarily want to be involved . Thirdly as you said past experiences that leave a sour test leaves women just at bay . Nonetheless as Kenyan I just think being single is a great decision especially if you don’t want children and works for some and I happen to be an exception.
