The card doesnt say you have to make "om nom nom" noises when you play it but it should

@@SuperFlamingTomatoThat's mostly a joke (which should be obvious by the "it" among them). "He" is okay by Spice, so long as you acknowledge that "they" is a perfectly valid choice for others to refer to themselves by and would prefer others to refer to them by. So the "it/them" thing is more of a social/political point by Spice, but they/he/it doesn't really have a hard preference or objection about their own pronouns, so long as you don't actively argue against a singular they "for grammar reasons" (when really you're just being a difficult cunt trying to oppose nonbinary-ness/genderless pronouns), or misgender someone who does care about it.

Doesn't even get to keep the 1/1 counters cause it's sent back to his hand at the end of turn... so he can do it again later
I remember bane in my mates Chulane flicker deck and let the record be clear, instant speed BoP is a horrifying concept.
He'll keep the counters for at least 1 turn though, since he cast it during his end step

It reads "at the beginning of your end step"
He cast it at instant speed after the beginning of his end step. So rules as written, it shouldn't go to hand until his next end step, when it can see the beginning of the end step.

I was on the receiving end of a devastating Bane of Progress play last week. Running Pantlaza, I had on the field Shadow in the Warp, Rhythm of the Wild, Ghostly Prison, Chromatic Lantern, Deafening Silence, and Mage Slayer equipped on Zacama. And wouldn’t you know, board superiority shifted a bit after that…
Bane of Progress is that beastly of a card.
Only in situations like this. Or in a deck that can flicker it or reanimate.
Try running a mycosynth lattice at the same time, see what happens!
@@Yourbeautiful666 in any given commander game, I find it is rare for there to NOT be 8+ artifacts/enchantments on the board by the time Bane of Progress is coming down.
Frequently these days it's more like 20+ with artifact tokens like food and treasures. Now yes the holder of artifact tokens can just sac them in response, but you're still forcing heavily suboptimal use of resources, putting yourself ahead relative to the token abuser.
And if you played a Fangren Marauder the turn before... 😏

God, Bane of Progress is one of those cards which directly teleports me back to college. Such a huge part of our games back then.
I love bane of progress and any way that involves casting him for free.
Nummy was magically violated this game.
I love the variety of guests you have on but I could honestly watch Spice any day, one of the greats. Same with Wheeler, any opportunuty to get either of them on the show is a treat ^^

Turning the tables on land destruction is fun. I witnessed an Armaggedon last week and laughed as I just kept using Bolas's Citadel and gaining life off my lifelink army. The Armaggedon caster was promptly shamed out of the game.

Bane of progress is onenof those cards that if it was just SLIGHTLY more powerful, it would need a ban in edh.
I feel hes pain as my decks usually have 10-20 enchantments and 10-15 artifacts 😅
Enchantments just have the coolest abilities.

I try not to have too many artifacts in my deck for this reason. People hate good artifacts 😂 just need the ones that will help me win

I know that feeling. Everyone was scared of me because I had a lot of artifacts so my friend cast bane of progress and put back me to two lands for the rest of the game. I still haven’t forgiven him for that.
Note: This game lasted at least 5 more turn cycles and didn’t hit a single land.

These were their first commander decks. Rebuilt for the show in most of their cases, but still.
Sometimes i'm in 2 colours and want to have mana but there's not enough decent 2 cost rocks to satisfy me so i decide to run bad ones too. and i'm too lazy to look for a better solution ^^
