Thank you! I started playing in the 6th grade. I actually started playing saxophone and later switched to oboe in 9th grade. 3 is perfect age! You should check out your local Suzuki classes for violin!
Growing up in the 50's and playing the oboe, I listened to this concerto played on a 78 by Leon Goosens. You do it justice. Your chops are primo and your lungs well......here's to youth and tons of talent. You must rock your school music department. What a great sound!
Very nice playing McKenzie....I did this work many years ago for an exam, You have captured the mood and nuances well. I am sure both Goossens would be appreciative - Well done
Thank you! I generally warmp up on a D major Scale at a slow tempo. Paying close attention to the intonation of each note and making sure there are no "bloops" between the notes either. It seems simple, but its actually pretty difficult to do correctly! lol
Very nice performance of a work not so often performed. You have captured the essential elements well. I performed this for LRSM a very long time ago and remember it with great fondness. I would like to hear you perform this with a more professional recording setup.
This is sooooo cool! Did you start playin nstruments at an early age? I would like for my daughter to learn how to play.... She is 3, so maybe now is the time!
Lol... love the concerto and your playing, but my biggest question is where can I find something like what you are wearing? I love clothes and this is amazing.
Congratulations! Really expressive performance! Sincerely I dislike the way most of american oboists ( such as Izotov or Mack) sound. You are closer to european style of oboe playing - that`s great !

This is amazing. Your tone is beautiful and you have such technical control! The fingerings can get really difficult in this piece.

Wonderful playing, McKenzie. Great sound and style. The orchestra and conductor also. Who is the conductor?
Michael Palmer with the orchestra at Georgia State University.
Hey Mckenzie. Where did you find the orchestral parts? I have been searching for quite a while now with no luck.
