Restricted air cleaner, improper float adjustment ie float not closing, the needle is not closing on the seat. gap too large on sparkplug should be .21 to .31.

I have a cart that Doesn’t want to fire after trying to start for a few seconds. I bet it’s the same issue you had. Thanks!

Could you let me know what the spark plug p/n was and also what carburetor you ended up having good luck with. My 88 club car is having issues also. I think mine are starvation issues, as I have no fuel getting into the. Lear in line fuel filter. My cart will only run with the choke on. It tuns great as long as I hold the choke.

The engine on mine has died of old age. It's knocking and smoking... I have put 4 carbs on this engine chasing other problems. The last carb was off Amazon, just don't get the cheapest one... sounds like yours is plugging up. The other thing I found was I was overfilling the oil and it was causing oil to get into the pulse hose that operated the fuel pump, the oil in the fuel pump causes it not to work well and eventually fail.
Good luck and let me know how it turns out.
