  • Replacing a headlight assembly on a 05 Lexus ES330. Used a 10mm socket to remove screws. Unfortunately, I don't have the part # for headlight assembly. #mechanic #lexuses330 #lexus #713jtmechanic #wrenching

    Your video was a great help to me but I think a few things need to be emphasized. It is a lot more difficult to get the old headlight out and the new one back in place than one would gather from this video. No matter which way you turn the headlight it is running into something that keeps it from getting in or out of where it has to go. To be honest I don't know how I managed to get them out and in, I guess it was a matter of bending the right pieces the right amount at the right time. It's possible but not easy. Second, one of my new headlights, on the second bulb in from the center of the car, the bulb/socket fit very loosely and no way it was going to stay in place. The socket has a brass colored metal ring that is screwed to the housing with two very small philips head screws. Both of those screws were loose. I VERY carefully tightened them with the appropriate sized Phillips head driver and then the socket clicked into place. So, check the fit of your bulb sockets to the main housing before installing in case something like this may be wrong. Third - it is much easier to do the drivers' side if you take the battery out of the car. Both the drivers and passenger side headlights are equally tricky to get out and in place again even if you take the battery out, might be worse on the drivers' side if you don't remove the battery. Last, if any of the bolts you are taking out under the hood are making a terrible creaking sound as you turn them, STOP. Squirt some PB blaster or other penetrating oil on the exposed part of the thread, then run the bolt back down to get some lube onto the threads, then remove the bolt again. The very last bolt I had to take out under the hood creaked... until it snapped off.

    I’m going to try replacing the headlight assembly on my 03 Lexus ES 300 today. I’m not sure how confident I am. I got pulled over last night. Showed the officer the new assembly that was in my trunk. He let me off with a warning.

      Take your time. I know you will be successful in replacing it. It may take you a little longer than an experienced person, but the accomplishment of successfully replacing it is priceless. You got this! 😊🙌🏼

    I have a 2002 ES300 with non-HID bulb and I want to replace the headlights with the non-HID projector, I wonder if these 2005-2006 projector headlights would fit.

    Great video, thanks! I followed it through and found that the rubber lining was coming out because my car had gone through some bumper repair body work and the base of the headlamp wasn’t held in place (it is a metal channel under the headlamp). Is there a way to secure it so that the outline aligns correctly with where it should?

      I am sure there is a way to secure it. I don’t have the vehicle. With out seeing the car I can not make recommendations.

    How can you tell if the headlight is HID or none HID?

    • @713jtmechanic8
      @713jtmechanic8  7 месяцев назад +1

      Great question. The HID has a box like shape on the head light assembly. I believe it located on the bottom of headlight assembly. It’s the ballast for the HID.
