    I'm 173.5cm and always wanted to do the surgery for higher height, however my wingspan is only 168.5-169cm at max. I also have long torso & short legs so even though legs lengthening would improve legs to height, short arms would look even shorter. And having surgery on all 4 limbs is something I'm definitely not prepared to. Also, proportions are not only about how you visually look. With shorter arms it might be harder to do daily things as you may have to squat more to reach something that is below (like washing hands in the sink). Or even while driving the car it's extremely hard to find comfortable position as you have to adjust steering wheel to be closer to you and sometimes it's still not enough - so you have to sit closer which gives less room for your legs that get twisted. So proportions are really super important and if increasing height would ruin them even more - I would stick to better proportions rather than bigger height (unless you are like

    • @Cyborg4Life
      @Cyborg4Life  Год назад +1

      Yes but you're lengthening faster and it's overriding your genetics so soft tissue needs to be properly conditioned to achieve the same suppleness and pliability as natural growth. Can be done when you don't overdo itg

    • @Cyborg4Life
      @Cyborg4Life  Год назад

      for full consolidation usually 1.5month per cm or so. But you will be allowed to fully weight bear before this as that's dependent on cortical bone formation. So walking comes before full ossification if that makes sense.

    What about the BMI? Is it affected by the new height in terms of weight distribution?

    • @Blackraptor1234
      @Blackraptor1234 Год назад +2

      Nah, your body will still biologically respond in the way it stores fat and sees is healthy for your old size. That said there is plenty of leeway, a 5'6 guy weighing 150 and a 5'9 guy weighing 150 are going to both be within normal range. and if you are in decent shape, the bmi isn't going to matter much anyways.

    • @Blackraptor1234
      @Blackraptor1234 Год назад +1

      @@Heatwave68 Nah there isn't enough info on it, atm. This is just understanding biomechanical fuctions. Mechanically changing your body through LL doesn't change your biological responses and make up of other systems of the body like fat storage, metabolism, etc.
      You gut chest etc. Are still going to store weight the same as when a guy was 5'6" .
      Your could apply the similar logic to say someone who lost their leg in an accident. If you wanted to go the opposite route.
      Avg leg would come in at 26 lbs. So lets say you were 5'6" and 150 before you lost the leg. Now you weigh 124 so your bmi is less. But lets say you put on 26 lbs of fat. Your bmi would say you are "healthy" but realistically with the leg thrown back it you would be overweight.
      All this said, if you are in good shape, bf% would be a much better indicator to go off of for health as opposed to BMI in this instance, and there would be alot of overlap. If your BF% is good then your BMI would still generally be fine regardless.

    • @Heatwave68
      @Heatwave68 Год назад

      @@Blackraptor1234 Interesting reply, was wondering if the extra mass going into the new muscle and bone tissues of the lengthened area could make up for the change in bmi!

    Thanks for the video always Vic!
    Comparing tibia vs. femur for mobility and lifting, longer tibias tend to help with squat posture more than longer femurs. If someone has longer tibias and opts for femur surgery, it might mess a bit with their workout routine because of the change in proportions. If you've got longer tibias (including myself) and consider femur surgery, it might affect your workouts, assuming your arms are long enough. Just to clarify, I know the pros and cons of each surgery, but I'm only talking in terms of weightlifting here. If that is the case, do you think longer tibia is better than longer femur? I'm referring to both the workout perspective and not just the aesthetic side of things.

    • @Cyborg4Life
      @Cyborg4Life  Год назад +5

      So longer tibias have much less impact on post LL workouts as in knee bending etc. Reason being they usually lengthen less distance than femurs (2 vs 3in) maximally and they are a vertical bone so, yes some positioning would be required, but a lot could still be done with ease - squating etc. The femur has a bigger impact on squatting etc.

    I'm 66" tall, with a short torso and a long wingspan. My arms are 28" long, hands at my sides my fingertips are 14" down from my waist, and easily extend 5-6" past my pockets. From my heel to my hip is 39". Femur is approx 19" and tibia 15". I think my knees may look slightly low, naturally, but my legs definitely look long in relation to my torso, but really only noticeable without clothing.
    I just want to be 68-70.5" tall. It would literally change my life. I don't mind being a smaller guy, I think being okay with 5'9" is a modest goal. I'm in great shape, and for my frame, I think at 5'9 5'10 I'd look like a precision human weapon. Since I was a young short kid, every yearly check up I would ask the doctor how tall I would end up being, and they sold me a whole dream, telling me I'd end up being 5'9. I've always felt like I got robbed of that 😂 It's how I've always envisioned myself, and I feel like my current height 5'6 just doesn't match me, and thought my growth must have gotten stunted somehow.
    Am I gonna look fucked up if I try this?

    Coming here from another video of yours. Just a simple question.
    In 2 surgeries, what is the max i can gain while being in the "safest" limit.
    Like I'm about 5'6+ (167-168), and I'm planning to achieve 5'11 (or 5'10.5 if not 5'11).
    One more thing, i have big torso and short legs. My sitting height is about a cm taller than my 5'10 brother.
    So considering my short legs as well. How much would you suggest getting?

    • @Cyborg4Life
      @Cyborg4Life  11 месяцев назад

      You would need to know your arm length too but your legs would probably look better afterwards. In 2 surgeries it's hard to say. Some can only get a total of 8cm some 10cm and the rare lucky few 12cm or tad more it's all about what your body can tolerate

    People are not born proportional also, ive seen guys who are like 6f 3 and have small heads like they are 5f 5 tall, or they generally look too much streched- entire body while it makes them "proportional" but they dont look masculine that way, its like they took growth hormone too much and grew too fast too soon, makes them look like light poles, you can see it at younger kinds in bigger towns especially. Probably due to ultraprocessed food, bigger person is also bigger consumer, so it is in favor of many companies, while people in smaller places who eat more balanced diet are moderate height and dont look elongated.
    But i myself would never go for it, it would be to many bad side-effects, for 1 'good'- to be taller. Even though i never had problem with girls. Believe it or not, until when i was 26 years old and went on datings apps (did pretty ok on apps) until that age i really didnt knew that height was a thing with girls (that they want someone taller than them) when i startet reading their profiles. From my experience in school and collage i never heard of height agenda, dont know how.

  • @berniebeast
    @berniebeast 13 дней назад

    I disagree with long torsos being a bad candidate for leg lengthening. A long torso + long arm combo would make the person look perfectly proportioned after leg lengthening. A person at 5’8 with a 5’11 torso and 5’5 leg would look perfectly proportioned with a 3 inch leg increase. Arm length isn’t all that matters when it comes to leg lengthening, your leg to torso ratio matters as well for not looking like an alien. Another thing to look at is the calve size. The patient that went from 6’0 to 6’6 ended up with extremely small calves because his 5’10 calves got longer but wider which is completely messed up his proportions. Also, the wingspan would still be under the waist before and after lengthening because you lengthen underneath that area so that kind of a pointless metric. A long torso would also throw this metric off as the arm would end high even if the person has long arms in proportion to their height. Thus, we should be looking for a long torso + long arms + large calves where a person has a deficiency only in their leg length. That makes them a prime candidate for lengthening.

    • @Cyborg4Life
      @Cyborg4Life  5 дней назад

      You have valid points as I mentioned these also in ways but the most important is the ATR overall. Yes shoulder width and other measures but it's the torso and arm length that matters. If you have a long torso and normal arms, and you get LL done on initially proportional leg lengths, you will not be as appealing as if you have a slightly shorter torso and longer arms or longer torso and longer arms. It's from years of physique sports and analyzing natural proportions on a vitruvian scale
