Great job Roman! While every other journalist is picking the top Trial Master trim, you are reminding everyone that you can save some money and customize a base model that is really just as capable.
Something you have mentioned before is the weight. Lots of people say it is too heavy, but it seems to me that it is quite close to the new LC250. When you compare this to the Land Cruiser can you do an in-depth (GVWR) comparison of weights and payloads?
Your titles are so click baity. Nobody is surprised you lost a ton on a LR trade-in.
Come on guys you can't put price on luxury performance 😂😂
I'm starting to think Ineos is going to be successful
Too bad Roman didn’t do a better comparison of the same options via an a la carte approach vs. the trial master package. It’s actually a better value when I did the comparison. Looking forward to your testing, and long term evaluations. Please compare it to the Lexus GX550! I am cross shopping. And I’m considering cancelling my IG order for the new GX due to proven reliability, and brand value, and my use case which is not rocket climbing or situations where I need three lockers. Also, I can get the Overtrail for 16K less than my ordered IG. Thanks!
The best thing about these videos is the dad son's relationship, and the son repeatedly addressing his father as dad.
And the father giving his son respect for being more knowledgeable.
Thanks for the thoughtful comment
@@TFLoffroad. I fully agree. Very heartwarming
Yeah, I which I had a dad like him.
This might be the first TFL video ever made where Tommy didn't make fun of plastic in an interior. Apparently in a $50k truck it's cheap and in a $80k off-road vehicle it's utilitarian.
$80k?.. think again..
Makes sense. . .
Tommy is worthless. Wouldn’t have a job if daddy didn’t give him a job. His fiancé is constantly cheating on him lol
3:05 For a second I thought we were getting a family story about Tommy being conceived in a Jag Wagon.
I thought the same thing.
😂😂😂
Losing money selling Range Rover. How shocking!
What’s also shocking is that it’s normal to lose money selling any car. They depreciate. Thank goodness it looks like the stupidity in the second hand market is coming to an end.
Tax write off..
@@theseb1979 yeah but a range rover depreciates way more than most other vehicles.
Anything new drops value, most cars hold decent value second hand, for them to only lose 3k to own and drive a rover for 5 months is amazing. Or you can buy a 2k Camry with 200k miles, drive it for a year, and sell it for 2k. So you won’t lose money, but you’re in an old ass Camry.
@@adamsdailydriveway3k a month of ownership, thats 12k total!!
like grandma always used to say, "buy high, sell low".
That is a consistent part of my skill set….
I was hoping Tommy would tell us he bought the Jag wagon or at least tried.
They have many millions in the bank, they might pretend they care, but the depreciation is all written off as a business expense.
@@mediocreman2 TFL Truck only earns about $20,000 a month from RUclips and the rest above that RUclips income amount is from corporate sponsorships. Their actual NET Worth after taxes and employee salaries is only about $1.6 Million USD and most of that money is tied up in the ranch property they bought a few years ago!
While Roman is a paper millionaire, cash-wise he is only sitting on about $250,000 in the corporate bank account in CASH and that is used just to meet the monthly PAYROLL and the monthly building lease payments and utilities payments! Compare TFL's position to that of LTT (Linus Tech Tips) RUclips channel of Surrey, British Columbia, Canada which has a NET WORTH of $100,000,000+ USD and Linus Sebastion is sitting on $15,000,000 USD in CASH!
Only certain RUclips channels are TRULY LARGE (i.e. Mr. Beast and LTT). Everyone else pretty much makes a piddling amount of money compared to the number of work hours they put in.
Depreciation is only 5% to 18% per year and CANNOT be just "written-off" for a full refund! You get 4-to-7 years depending upon the TYPE of expense to write-off any capital or business expense! The amount of IRS/CRA taxation illiteracy is SIMPLY ASTOUNDING online! You CANNOT just "Write-off" entire bills/expenses to the IRS/CRA!
You get a certain PERCENTAGE AMOUNT of the entire set of bills/expenses sent off quarterly and even then you don't get it back in cash but rather gets applied as a Tax Credit used to offset OTHER expenses which reduces your overall business tax rate. You MAY get a refund at the end of the year if you qualify! Most of the time you get another lett/bill from the IRS/CRA at the end of the year saying you owe another $5,000 to $100,000 in total taxes --- with the letter specifically saying PAY UP OR ELSE!
Your "Write-it-Off as an Expense" statement is an utter bilge factoid from some online horse-hockey-pucks-place that knows NOTHING about how businesses are actually run and taxed at the Municipal, State/Provincial and Federal levels for the IRS and CRA!
That said, I am pretty sure Roman has a Visa Business Infinite Card from Chase Bank with a $250,000 Credit Limit so if necessary, he can put this vehicle purchase entirely on the Credit Card and collect the Air Miles points for a "free" Winter Vacation to sunny Greece!
V
It’s the American way
He said he would prove the internet was wrong about Range Rover and 4-5 months losing money by owning it 😂😂 and trying to come up with all excuses. 😂
but it was fault free as far as i remember.
@@petelattimer680812k in 5 months is still pretty damn bad, I also doubt they drove* it regularly.
Indeed so.
That Jag wagon!!!!!!!!!! So perfect . Wagons are so unappreciated.
Agreed! I bought one of the last VW Golf Alltracks when they were still offered. Wagons are just so practical, and can be fun as well!!!
The late Queen had one of those Jag wagons, in green
Maybe years ago, but now they are very appreciated.
I love my 2010 CTS-V wagon manual I will never get rid of it
Tommy actually answered the question we were all wondering about. Is the B58 reliable. BMW had some good engines, and a lot of bad ones, but he had the forethought to talk to Toyota and get their take on it. Bravo Sir. Details matter, and that’s why I love this channel.
Yes, but the “bad’ BMW engines were mostly V8s….
Their 6s have been mostly reliable, strong, and spin to high mileage…. when taken care of…
@@cliffmorgan31 S54 rod bearings have entered the chat. Yeah, mostly reliable is a good description though. Smooth as silk and there's a B58 in my garage right now. It is a marvelous engine (so far).
Hope it handles an 1" of snow better than a Tacoma 😂
Haha one of the most disappointing things I’ve seen recently. Hopefully that gets figured out before they start delivering the 4Runner
Ha ha too soon! 😅
Lame joke
The Tacoma did alright. The transfer case, not so much. Guaranteed the schills will come back and take blame for a few g's taken from the mean
The Tacoma did all right the transfer case not so much? Are you sure you want to go with this defense?
I thought the transfer case was part of the Tacoma. 😃 My fault I guess. I didn’t watch the video where they went out and purchased the transfer case and put it on the Tacoma. 😃
So the second hand market is correcting itself. Very good.
I can well believe that an SUV suffered depreciation.
I can also believe than an unreliable SUV such as a Range Rover suffered lots of depreciation.
I look forward to your videos expressing surprise at the wetness of water and how blue the sky is.
Everything is dropping like a rock currently so it’s not a surprise. Dealers are finally discounting new cars to get rid of them after they made a mint selling over sticker for nearly 3 years.
What is a bit odd though at least here in California the Used SUVs Toyota for example are holding their value..and in some cases the new ones are not that much more expensive to buy and with incentives like 0% financing buying new can be a better deal.
I'm looking for a 2-3yo Defender and in the last few months there's an absolute glut of Defenders on lots and the prices are dropping, too
To be fair, that is a handsome RR in the white. And although you lost a fair wedge, a typical buyer would keep it for 2 to 3 years? Anyway, I reckon it's still a good deal for the luxury and off-roadability.
Range Rovers are only a good deal if they are leased and under the manufacturer's warranty.
Out of warranty and Off Lease they are a starter kit for bankruptcy because their value plunges and their endless repairs are expensive
The Grenadier videos are going to be super fun. 💯
They are!
I own a Defender and love it. I noticed not much leg room in the back seats and the BMW stick shift sticks out like a sore thumb. Have owned the Defender about a 2 years now and not a single problem so far. Definitely has the off-road look, like to hear your review on long distance travel.
I can't afford one, but I think these are so cool. I guarantee that the person in the yellow Hummer H2 at the very last few seconds of the video, was eyeballing the hell out of the Grenadier.
35" tires should definitely be an option...
I had a reservation on a Grenadier in almost your exact spec. The test drive was unbelievable. I just didn't have the courage for that cost. The sunroofs and ladder are a must-have for that cost.
Never understood sunroofs what do you want them for?

@@insiainutorrt259 Well, good for you then!
Same story with the family who started Range Rover, they loved their post war CJ so much, they were inspired to create their own.
That's just not accurate at all. Maurice Wilks had a war-surplus Willys MB and built an aluminum body on a Jeep chassis using scrap airplane aluminum to create the first Land Rover in 1947. The Range Rover model of Land Rover wasn't built until 1970.
Man, 280 hp with this kind of big truck, you will feel its short of everything at any point of time.
Very interested in this series. Happy you got one.
Hope you enjoy it!
Excited to see your upcoming videos on the Grenadier! You guys always put together the best videos in terms of production and information, and you really go out there and put your own necks on the line from the day you buy the vehicles to the day you sell them with everything in between. Curious to see how this does against a built up 4Runner (particularly the red one we’ve seen on here many times).
Much love and support from Texas ✌️
Roman, great job spec’ing the truck! All the goodies, no frills! Good luck with her and I’m so happy it exists and we’re able to purchase it on this side of the pond. I’m not on the market for it yet…..yet. Excellent, and I look forward to your experience!
You and me both!
Guys, that light blue is absolutely the best color. Looks fantastic!
love the panels and buttons on that thing. Looks very "aircraft" like. So cool
That is specified perfectly!!! Good job, Roman.
The two of you were super excited picking up the new Grenadier. Looking forward to seeing what it can do.
WOW, I'm glad you got this. I can't wait to see it in all the testing.
Cool looking rig. Love the color. Have fun and keep us posted.
Its funny that they all have roof grab bars and a few have ladders but none have roof racks. 16:05
Stop commenting on the stupidity of these vehicles, those that build them as well as buy them without noticing those things.
The reason is the roof grab handles can handle 350 dynamic load and 900 static load. Was designed so you don't need a rack.
@@myrrhavmor ppl who are buying them are aware that you don't need a rack.
@@peopleschamp7258 You’re speaking of grab handles. Not the roof. You’d think these guys would mention the “roof” is capable of holding 900 pounds of which I highly doubt.
@myrrhavm they were designed to be used as lashing holds for roof. My bad when I was doing kg conversion. It's 750pounds static weight.
Congratulations on your purchase of a new Ineos Grenadier! Hopefully it will serve you well and be reliable. Andy McKane, Maunaloa, Hawaii.
Manual seats, manual buttons, and an actual key to start it are positive selling points in my opinion. Less to go wrong. The BMW shifter though seems so out of place that it's jarring. They need something else that suits the vehicle better.
Agree 100%
The issue is resale. Without options that are becoming more and more essentially standard the value drops. Many people "have" to have heated seats etc. It is like a manual car. Anyone can drive an automatic. The amount of people who can even drive a manual drops massively. So trying to find a buyer becomes more challenging. I agree less stuff to break is a good thing.
@@danielrn133Yeah, the dealerships love to tell you that BS about manuals…until you want to buy a used manual!
Then, they are rare, hard to find, if you find one you better buy it fast, etc. etc.
We sold our A5 back in the pandemic when they wanted everything, and they were actually happy to buy it. I’m looking for a basic car to leave at a vacation home right now, and can’t find a manual.
I get what your saying, but, In my opinion, the people that are shopping for the Grenadier will probably not be the same people shopping for a BMW or Mercedes Luxury barge SUV. I have a feeling alot of the shoppers for this vehicle are old Land Rover and Jeep fans that are used to the basic agricultural character that those old vehicles had, and they will be buying the Grenadier for the rugged styling and offroad chops over luxury amenities. I think that's part of the uniqueness of the Grenadier and is what will make it sell well. People that want the ultra luxury everything have a plethora of vehicles to choose from on the market. People searching for rugged and more basic and serious off roaders have less options. So I don't think the manual seats will deter buyers because the Grenadier is a more specific type of vehicle than say, a mass market Ford or Nissan. In fact I think a lot of buyers will have the same opinion and see it as less is more type of thing.@@danielrn133
The shifter doesn't bother me at all. I'd rather have something that comes as a kit and keeps the price down. If they had done their own shifter, that could be another $1k per car for all we know.
Can’t wait to see this off-roading
Love the Grenadier and I can't wait to see all the usual content with it.
I'm so glad you're doing this. Looking forward to your long term review.

The nickel-and-dime stuff kills me.

Very excited to see the Grenadier in your fleet.
Sad to see the Range Rover go, though; was looking forward to watching more off-road videos on that.
I was sure Roman was going to put that RR into his personal stable. Such a nice vehicle and didn't give them any trouble.
And that Jag wagon is super sweet. I hope it finds its way to the show.
Im glad to see you are giving it try.
Looks cool but I wouldnt touch it. Too many unknowns.
It may be petty but I hate the speedo off to the side..
Unfortunately all these new cool overlanding/off road ready SUV's are priced out of range of most Americans. It's so sad, I love these new trucks and would love to have any of them, but I almost don't even watch these videos because I'll never have any of these new fancy rigs 😢
I love you did the door slam test, that was a great thump. I do the same thing. I found that the Ford bronco and Bronco sport doors to be terrible.
Congrats. This is one vehicle that I really long for as there isn't anything else like it. Looking forward to your future videos with it.
I just saw my very first Ineos passing the MOAB area in Utah those things are beasts
I saw a video that explains car values in the uk and apparently the best time to buy a vehicle is 3-4 years old as the depreciation hits hardest in the first 3 years
This LR was way older than 3 years. They lost money mainly because of the peculiarities of the post pandemic market place. Used car values were in the sky and now coming down substantially.
Loving the Ineos content !
This is going to be a fun series!
Well it looks better than the cyber truck
Anything looks better than the Cybertruck at this point 😁😄😆😅.
Hey Guys, I have been watching you since day one, this is your greatest purchase ever! I live 22 miles north of New York City and the closest ineos dealer is in PA. Would just love to see one in person, I’m sure a nj/ ny dealer will pop up soon enough. Best of luck with it, I hope you keep this forever! Evan from Rockland County , NY!
Awesome! Thank you!
I would like to see one of these vehicles in 4-5 yrs of driving in the salt encrusted areas of New York
I got to drive one recently and loved it. The power was fine. The ride was comfortable. The seats were also comfortable with a great driving position and forward field of view. Yes, the steering is slow but not terrible. What I thought was funny is that the city and highway gas mileage are the same at 14mpg for the Trialmaster. I kinda want one.
I almost bought a Grenadier (had a reservation, deposit, & everything) but I decided to buy a house instead 😂
It's definitely a great truck. Enjoyed driving one at the Fox Valley offroad course & speaking with the engineers. Thing is definitely overbuilt, but at the same time, I've seen some teething issues on fb groups related to fit & finish. No doubt a huge accomplishment for a brand new manufacturer making their first vehicle, similar to Rivian. They definitely cared about making something great.
A buddy of mine got one 2 months ago and loves it. He got the same color w color match roof.
Back seat. You eye level is way above the top of the door which means you have to bend down to see much out to the side and to get out unless you slide out ass first.
And he says it’s a large vehicle but yet his knees are touching the front seat back, and is sitting nearly vertical, did not look comfortable at all
Would have never guessed how good that color is, nicely done!
Tommy, Own a British Racing Green 2004 Xtype with 45,000 miles, larger V6, Nav screen, 10 disc cd in trunk, in beautiful condition. Truly, a wonderful vehicle.✔

yes, please keep this thing for a while; we need to know where the quality really is on the powertrain....if theres a real competitor to jeep that would be good to know.....thanks guys!
The bronco & 4 runner is still the real competitor to the wrangler.
The Ineos Grenadier is more like the Super Duty of mid-size off-roaders (they actually share a couple of parts suppliers) so it probably competes more with a Land Cruiser or G Wagon, although not really, because the Grenadier is not luxury-oriented in the least, it's straight Utilitarian.
WOW, When you first pulled up I was thinking in the $150,000. Range. Excellent deal @80k!
It doesnt even have heated seats
It has front and rear lockers and that’s what counts.
Perfect spec. Love the Carolina Blue
Losing 12k is bad enough but this new venture has the potential to lose more.
Depends how many views it gets...
I hope so.
Should have got one of the dark blue ones
Looks awesome 👍🏼
No way! I’ve loved seeing the Range Rover on the channel!!!
Thats the coolest looking offroader ..looks way tougher then a soft mall crawler bronco and jeep wrangler 😂
That’s the nice thing about rovers. I pay $1500 for a car that was $50k+ brand new. Plus they keep you busy doing all the repairs
Excited for the Grenadier series videos! One of my dream vehicles, maybe I’ll find a used one in a few years? Tough to beat the 4Runner though…
I think it would be a lot of fun to own one of these but I am going to revist in a few years after we how well they hold up and if they do a little refreshing with the handling. I love the looks inside and out so no worries about a refresh there.
The bmw style shifter is horrible reminds me of a parts bin car…….but other than that it’s cool, like the darker blue myself, hope it is good!
Priceless spending time together.
Man I kinda like that range rover especially for that price.
Especially when stuff like Kia Tellurides are $55K
Looks superb. Seen a lot of these on the road in Dubai recently. Hoping to find someone I know who has one so that I can ‘have a go’ soon!
Looks really neat, capable, roomy, and not overdone. I look forward to a good shake down. For all the newer technowizardry in vehicles, I want to know what to do when it fails to crank and when cranks but fails to start out in the field. If I can’t self rescue then I don’t want it.

Since when do any high-end vehicle, except Lexus, and especially a JLR product retain a high percentage of their original purchase price?
Land Rover and Range Rovers plummet in value once they're off lease or out of warranty
we'll find out in several months to a year.
Hey Jeep- that new grand wagoneer is a miss when you look at how satisfying this is as it relates to its original inspiration points….
Bravo I love it!!!
Interesting vehicle. Though I like the darker blue color better, but my interest is peaked.
Oh you bought an Ineos.... Nice. Not my cup of tea but super curious about how these vehicles turn out. The fact it has buttons make it more luxury than Lexus imo.
Manual seat adjustments too. Electric is way too slow.
Appears to be a real overlander. Also appears to be best in that price class. Can't wait to see your results and in class comparisons. 🤔🚙
Shouldn't this video have come out first?
I really like the Ineos, nice buy.
That blue defender
Great looking vehicle; it looks its purpose. Fingers crossed it doesn't leak oil too soon like other BMWs (both third hand reports and my own experience).
That's cool that you can build a "trial master" without the widdle wadder and other stuff you don't necessarily want, Roman did a nice job speccing it. Too bad Jeep doesn't let you do that.
The best think about the BMW engine is since they detuned it, you can run a stock flash on it and get much greater power delivery.
Yes, the speed display slightly to the right really makes one really miss looking over, around, or through the steering wheel for that information. 😢😢
If you buy any used high end vehicle from a dealership, drive it round the block once and then offer it up in part exchange , you are going to typically loose 15% to 20%. No surprise here.
I absolutely LOVE these Ineos Grenadiers! I can't afford one but I love them, nonetheless. Maybe I'll look for a used one in a few years and see what they cost then.
Congratulations 👍 Love the color, just like a Land Rover Defender look a like 👏
They are all sold because there are few Grenadier dealerships in the United States. And I guarantee most of those Grenadiers were not sold locally. Half of them on that lot are waiting for car haulers to pick them up.
I dunno, there is a lot of money in Colorado.
@@travisp11 You don't understand. The buying process was done online. You had to pre-register, and then you got them wherever you found them. You could pick your dealer anywhere in US. Most people picked dealers with the lowest doc fees.
@@peopleschamp7258 okay.
Though as happy as I am to see you guys do this series with this vehicle I am kind of sad that Roman had to get rid of his range Rover for it I kind of hope that was something he could have kept like and definitely for himself after they are done with the series and just used other cars you know for their other series to trade in for stuff and he could have kept that one permanently cuz he seemed to have loved it so much but I understand where he's coming from He's running a business and has to do what he has to do
When you have so many cars you need to drive like these guys, I would imagine it is difficult to justifying a personal car just because you like it.
It looks great and well built!
Despite the reputation, people still line up to buy these things. Absolutely perplexing. The same buyers will agonize and “research” extensively before buying an air fryer, but won’t hesitate on a guaranteed lemon.
I’m bummed the RR is gone. I was hoping for more episodes with it. The grenadier is cool but a comparison on the trail would have been fantastic. Should have sold some other vehicle.
It’s basically a defender in terms of design. The door does not sound like the one in the G, by a wide margin.
I live in the Dallas area, and I've seen a bunch of these around
That Range Rover in Ireland would retail in a diesel version for around €60,000. Car value are finally levelling out over there but not here yet.
I have to admit I’m bummed on the Range Rover. I really wanted to prove all the nay sayers wrong with its long term reliability. Also I think it is just a really sick looking vehicle. The price hit is all market adjustment, which is deceiving.
Curious about the Granadier. I would have speced a little different.
Sad as well. Scv8 rovers are absolutely great to own.
