I owned a 2010 CRV 4WD and now a 2013 CRV AWD, both great, made it through many blizzards. Sounds like human error.

The AWD works great on these SUVs. It just floats over snow.

I have put 40k miles on my 2012 CRV AWD and yes it sucks . It does alright in snow . But any incline or where a lot of power is needed to real wheels it fails . No it does not pass Subaru roller test . Correct semantical AWD from Subaru is the best . We have owned a 2011 Subaru outback and I tested my CRV on the same course Subaru showed us that we climbed with the outback and my CRV simply wouldn't climb . One time I tried it actually stalled and all warning lights came on . I had to put it in park to re start it after rolling back to flat ground in neutral . On another occasion I tried to drive up a snow bank 30 grade maybe . And once front wheels were at the top and were spinning rear wheels did not engage any power to drive up . Or not nearly enough . I have done many tests and seen many others . The system does not work for anything beyond giving you 20% power now and then to help in snow driving .

Not really, there are at least two quatto systems: one that has a torsen diff in the center (RWD platform), and one that has a Haldex clutch in it.... and that setup functions quite similarly to the Honda system, except it adds wheel speed sensors (rather leaches off of the TPMS sensors).

How the hell is this a technical explanation? Fail.

Just bought a 03 crv awd today and I'm not impress with the traction on the snow. There's about 3 inch of snow on the ground and its struggling to catch traction unless I'm easy on the gas pedal like a front wheel drive. As Im watching the left rear wheel it will spin with the front wheel when the front slips and then it doesn't sometimes. Even when there all spinning it still fells like there's no traction, only thing I can think of is that the suv is not heavy enough. I also agree with the other comment on here that honda needs to add a rear diff lock. I believe the pilot has the diff lock. Oh i'v driving 3 pilots in the snow before and I have no complaints so it must be a weight issue.

      jv07tundra381 tires

Rafael Rj snow tires brought the 03 crv to a good to superior traction standard in the snow over the years. You are right about tires but one main difference between the pilot and crv is that awd pilot can have junk tires on and still go through the snow just fine where as the crv can't with junk tires.

    False.
Subaru doesn't use any Jatco units, they use Toyota's CVTs which use a chain and not a belt like Jatco.

  • @jeremyshaw1
    @jeremyshaw1 11 лет назад

Their manuals (bar the STi) and 4EAT/5EAT are from Jatco - all aging transmissions badly in need of an update, and (more or less) from when Nissan used to own the company. Subaru claims their CVT is fully in-house developed, not from Toyota (and just about everyone, even Jatco, uses a metal belt - it's merely how marketing decided to describe it).

Can this model pass Subaru's roller test?
A lot of off roaders have bad experience with Honda's 4wd system.

I have a 2013 manual diesel CRV and it fails to climb a steep, dry, grassy hill that others climb with little drama. The CRV just stops moving forward and a transmission overheat warning light comes on the instrument panel.
No other 4wd car has ever consistently failed to climb this hill in similar summer conditions and I tried it with the old Land Cruiser Amazon on worn road tyres and it had no problem. What's up?

It's real time 4wd not AWD, AWD is full time and has a center differential.

  • @Lenn006

Honda need to sit down and redesign the rear differential because is a very strange croaking noise on all petrol CR-V

I'm a Honda fan, but sorry.. there's only one true All wheel drive system. It's called symetrical all wheel drive and it's from Subaru.

The CR-V has the shittiest AWD system in the compact SUV segment. End of story.
