UPDATE: for those of you being negative towards my situation & all of Houston saying WHY DIDN'T WE EVACUATE well let me spill some knowledge- Hurricane Harvey was suppose to go straight to Corpus/ Rock-Port which it did! Houston was only suppose to get some rain from Harvey, but not this severe tropical storm. Mayor advised us NOT to leave the city, because when Houston tried to evacuate years ago, there were 100+ deaths & only a couple from the actual storm. they didn't want to repeat that same thing, that's 6million people trying to leave at the same time, chaos, right? NOW, this tropical storm has stopped right over the city for 3 days now, it HAS NOT MOVED, so of course we are getting inches & inches of rain, because it's not going anywhere! it's right above Houston, NOBODY could've predicted this ahead of time, no one! we still have couple more days of rain, it's not stopping any-time soon, so it's too late for anyone to go anywhere, some people just don't have the funds nor family to just up & leave. NOW that you got some knowledge, have some humanity in you & just pray for us, pray that it gets better, because there's people out there that are losing everything, even their life, and lastly, pray for yourself & ask God to forgive you for your harsh harsh harsh words & fucked up mentality, thank you. P.S, i am OK, dry & safe! x

We're in Houston too, and people have been saying the same things, but what they don't seem to understand is that the roads are so flooded there are no ways out of the city.

Folks who criticize this woman have no clue what they are talking about. The hurricane was not on the way to Houston it went to Rock Port, then it became a tropical storm which has now stayed over the area. The last time we had people packing up and leaving guess what, more people died on the highway trying to get to Dallas. Moral of the story Hurricanes are not exact science. As I sit writing this its still raining and windy 2 days later. We are used to rain and lots of it. There was also the tax day flooding last year. Usually the problem comes when there are so many variables. I just pray that people are able to make it through this alive. Alexx Just keep strong.

I take it you are a little wet behind the ears, 12 people from nursing homes died on a bus and dozens more on the road. When Rita hit Texas approximately 10 died as a result of it. So are we suppose to evacuate when it rains heavily. The hurricane made land fall at Rock Port. We got the rain pouring on us for days due to the stationary front which caused the tropical depression. So again I ask do we evacuate Houston when we get a lot of rain?
Let me get this right I got one weeks notice that a hurricane is going to hit Christi and am suppose to leave Houston. You can play with the models. We also did not get this much rain from Rita. so no you cant use any models. This has never happened before, so how do you prepare for it. Come on. By the way this has nothing to do with Hillary. I have been through Hurricanes before, not necessarily in Houston so this is not exactly new to me. Gilbert was way back in 88 did you ever hear about that. Unfortunately Houston is flat so water will not run off fast, and they keep building endlessly so the aquifers no longer exist. Throw in 2 70 year old dams and that's a recipe for disaster. Bad housing location will cause this problem every time. The developer gets his money and moves on.
Yu hoo that came from the governor, so your point is? I still would not have evacuated. I know where i live and it would not flood that's information that i have that you don't. As it stands I am high and dry, with electricity. So whats stupid about that. Every storm has catastrophy be it 1 or a 1000.

Where does your family live? Is Dante from Houston? Just hope God brings Houston the Relief and Recovery it so desperately needs! PLEASE, don't take any unnecessary chances trying to get to work this week. Hopefully, the predicted additional rain for your area will hold off and give the water a chance to recede. Today a big sigh of relief for me in Tampa Bay area(west coast)..the storm will stay on the east coast of Florida. We will feel it some but we will not get a storm surge which would have sent us all here to evacuate. I got my supplies and gas but the highways and side roads out of Florida are jammed pack. Someone will get it and I feel sorry for them. I've been through hurricanes before when i lived in South Florida, i moved up here and it feels safer... you made it, i am glad! What an unforgettable, traumatic experience..
I understand the uncertainty, I'm in the Mission Bend area and fortunately for us here, it's not so bad although some people are not as lucky. My kids go to the Alief school district and their classes got cancelled until September 5! My prayers go out to all my H-Town people and may God keep us all safe! Much love and prayers for all!

Nobody knew it would flood and rain for days. I'm telling you I was scared also, and if it wasn't for that bottle of Don Julio then my nerves wouldn't of made it lol

My dad he lives in Houston I live in Rowlett Texas hurricane Harvey was there my dad he's a firefighter in Houston he was literally in the water with snakes and alligators and everything saving on people's lives cars are underwater it was crazy

Okay I was insanely scared when the tornado started cuz likeee it was so close to my house luckily nobody got injured or damaged, our house is still put up but the flood ruined it. We moved to California 😂
