By far the best property you've shown. I hate new builds; they're flashy, trashy and most are plain nasty. This is elegant and traditional in a modern way. Pure class. It would make a beautiful wedding venue and spa but also a great comfortable home. Thank you Summer and Matt.
I agree with you
I can’t be the only one who tries to think of my family living in all of the properties that Matt & Summer tour😂
Your not the only one I do it to 😂😂😂
Me too 😂😂
Sameee
Nope, just me with the space all to myself.
You certainly are not the only one.
I'm 70 years old. I lived 10 miles away as a young boy from this castle. It was used by the government as headquarters for the northeast National Coal Board. Known as the NCB. It was closed after the pits were closed around the late 1980s. I see it has been vastly revampt for its sale. Even the gardens.
Revamped* lol
That’s interesting… basically was used as like an office space
@@sophritoh -ed and -t are interchangeable.
Would you mind telling me where this is located? Thank you so much
@@Lykkelig777 NE of England, just south of Sunderland in County Durham. A gorgeous place to live.
It is actually CRAZY that in london 3mil would be the cost of a nice flat, but here you can get a full blown CASTLE!! absolute bargain too
The north is nicer than the south too
Where is this?
@@kets4443 In the south of Sunderland, northeast of uk
@@ricksanchez8469 keep telling yourself that 😅
@@EmmanuellaUdofia is the north colder cuz im not british lol i like britian i heard its rainy and cold perfect for me since im from a country wher it gets 46 + degree celcuis in some places
Matts cheeky laugh in dungeon says it all ..
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤨
An absolute bargain. To build something of that size and quality today, using natural materials and all the fine plasterwork, woodwork etc would cost double, and you can never recreate the history no matter the budget. I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I had the funds!
Me too, with 11 rooms, we should rent out a few rooms to proper couples or small families.. we need at least 3 house keeper to stay with us to cover the maintenance on each level, plus 2 to 4 outdoor gardening staff on this 14 Acres of land...
So true, it's a steal
it could be a nice homecare for the elderly with organic food from the land, music and sports activities and so on... like "The Quartet" movie
awesome!
The elderly can croak
We need more castle/ stately home tours
Faxx
Absolutely, I love them
this castle would make for a great boutique hotel
It would, but it would be a massive shame. So many of our larger country houses have become hotels, I think it's nice when they can stay in family ownership as was originally intended. I bought two similar units in Malibu for $45 million. They're popular for rentals for parties and events due to the ample space, making it a perfect investment that has paid off well.
How did you grow your money to $45m, I'm impressed, I have a lump sum i don"t want to leave it in the bank, whats your cash flow like?
I have a financial advisor (trader) she grows my liquid assets, and I reinvest the weekly payouts back into real estate and right ETFs.
Great move, please can you share her with me, or maybe her name so I could search for her online, thanks
Cathy Jemar Carlone look her up.
I stayed here for 5 nights last month and it was amazing! Some of the rooms on the main floor were swapped. The red room became the dining room, the other large room became the living room with a little study off of it with card table set up. The only thing this place was missing was a washroom on the main level.
I love when you guys show these gorgeous British properties. That entry hall, alone, has more than enough punch to pull the 3 million out of my wallet. Blown away!!!
This is the actually MOST interesting property that you have shown us. Naturally charming, charmingly natural.
I absolutely love the room with the ornaments of the flowers and the birds on the walls.😊😊
Congrats on 150k subscribers. Have seen this channel grow from below 50k. Will we get Matt & Summer's House Tour on this occasion? 😜
The pale blue-green colour on the walls is eau de nil. This place is absolutely beautiful, thank you for showing us.
Summer is too hilarious, her personality is so adorable. 😂 Also, Matt laughing at her description of the room “it’s quite long and big” even I laughed out loud with him😂
Pretty sure you'd still get 7 hours sleep if you fall out of the beds before you hit the floor
Stunning. Worth 3 million in a heartbeat. I love that beautiful yellow color. Thank you for the tour.
I live very close to here. As a kid I used to walk through Castle Eden Dene which is a nature reserve and walk past this place when it was derelict. So happy it been renovated and is now absolutely stunning. From this property you can walk through the nature reserve right down to the beach on the County Durham coast. Amazing property in an amazing part of County Durham
I LOVE that huge orangerie. The assortment of furniture there is a mess, but when you block all that ugly clutter out the space is EXACTLY what I've been trying to find images of. It's EXACTLY it. Before this, it only existed in my mind so that's impossible to communicate visually to a designer or architect. This space has such generous proportions and manages to look good externally also. Often orangeries, especially modern extension can look ghastly (even on a listed or historic building). Such potential and I love that you could access it from numerous well proportioned rooms 'indoors' which all have different purposes in themselves, so in turn, the orangerie serves many aesthetic moods. Thank you so much for making this and uploading. I'm so glad I found this.
Each day I come back to RUclips and your channel, there’s another 1000 followers!! Your content is awesome and your channel just keeps growing! I subscribed to you at just under 50k and now that’s tripled!! That Matt and Summer reach is popping!!! 🥰
I love how you guys have come back to your roots, stay you, be you always
I don't mind you going around the world making videos just make them the way you make them here I always save your videos and watch them on my playlist the decent ones
Beautiful castle, I really like it that it feels rather warm and homely despite it's size, it isn't overly ornate ...
Wow.. the sheer amount of space and the ceiling heights are both mind boggling. Thank you both for giving us a tour of this awesome castle.
What an absolutely SPECTACULAR home! You guys did a great job of showing it off, as always. Thank you very much.
Yes, a swimming pool and spa downstairs would be perfect!
Wow!!! That is absolutely gorgeous!!! £3,000,000 is a steal, really!! I can imagine myself living here! Beautiful!! Thanks for showing it!🥰
Wonderful fairytale home indeed. Loving the gigantic beds. 12k running costs is excellent for the size and type of property. However, I reckon on top of the 12k one would need too set aside money for household and garden staff. And with a property that big there are always going to be on going repairs which would be expensive if the castle is Grade I or II listed. When all is said and done this is my favourite one so far. Well done for getting a viewing on this Dream of a castle, your audience are extremely grateful 🙏.
This castle would make a wonderful investiments for weddings and receptions.
All the guest could stay together
Castle Eden is the name of the village, which is why it has it's own road signs. The castle is actually the old manor house. The village is far more famous for Nimmo's Castle Eden brewery, or Whitbread's brewery as it was later known
Ugly on the outside, beautiful on the inside.
Still not a castle though is it? A Castles primary purpose is as a fortification, its purpose as a home is secondary. The building might be on the SITE of an old castle, god knows enough of them were pulled down and their stone robbed out over the centuries that nothing survives of them save a village or place name.
For a REAL castle look at Harlech Castle, or Caernarfon (no that is NOT the incorrect spelling, I am NOT English) and compare them to that building. Is the building in the video grand, sure, but it is NOT a Castle.... It is a Stately Home. Its primary function is as a grand residence, not as a defensive fortification.
And no, Castell Coch (Red Castle) in South Wales is not a Castle either, despite the fact it actually looks like one. It is simply a Stately home (more correctly a Hunting Lodge) built to look like a fantasy Castle but without silly little things like fifteen foot thick walls, barbicans, killing fields, machiolations, and all the other little defensive features that mark REAL Castles....
So this residence backs onto Castle Eden Dene which connects Castle Eden, Peterlee, Horden and Blackhall together with miles of beautiful trees and adventure walks. I am lucky enough to live in Peterlee and visit the Dene regularly and alway pop to see the castle and have many pictures of it.
Love all the castles and converted properties that y'all tour! Every one is so unique 😍
This is one of the BEST video. You show driving to the property at least we have a clear vision the whereabout.
I said it once and I’ll say it again, you literally have the best job! Can you tour a house in Cheltenham?❤️
I always think of my family in each and every room when I see this
Stay casual not professional stay normal because your normal people making videos for normal people
This is stunning! I love everything about it, keep going and congrats on 150k!! 👏🥳🤍
I love it when you remember to put the floor plan summer 🙊🤩
This house is sooooo big that, if you took a tequila shot every time Summer says ‘en suite’ you would die 😂
County Durham, a beautiful part of England. I'm guessing whoever buys this grand property will turn it into a luxury B&B. I can imagine Christmas here, or a Murder Mystery weekend. The dungeon would be ideal as a spa/therapy area.
i think the people that owned it during this were also using it as a b&b / getaway xx
“You could dig down here and put a swimming pool in” - the sound of someone who has never dealt with a council planning officer, I suspect anything more than changing a lightbulb would require more £££ and sign off from the committee! They’ve done a nice job making it cosy with all the constraints actually
Planning officer: "No"
You: "But I haven't said anything yet."
Planning officer: "It doesn't matter, the answer is still no."
Agree! Its Listed so there will be little you can do though a swimming pool would be amazing unlikely to be granted!
@@AWidgetIHaveNot Unless of course....
You: “But I have this large brown envelope full of £50 notes I’ll leave on the desk here”
Planning officer: “Let me get my rubber stamp”. APPROVED!
@@drybiscuit Works for media magnates who strategically sit next to Tory M.P.s at dinner.
I don't know how far it would take the rest of us.
@@AWidgetIHaveNot Oh you’d be surprised. Corruption within local planning offices is very much alive and well!
Not so much the brown envelope method these days as more “I say old chap I’ve noticed your wife’s car is getting a bit old these days”. Shortly afterwards, a new vehicle appears on the planning officers drive.
Miraculously and I’m sure purely coincidental..... the planning application gets approved.
One of the best house tours I've seen! It actually shows the layout. ❤
'This is mental!' :-) Very nice. About 4 miles in from the North Sea. Lots of fresh air that seems to improve health and can also increase vivid dreaming.
Every time I see these expensive house tours all I want is just the higher ceilings. That's it. I'm fine with the smaller house and room sizes of places I've lived at as an adult, but I just want higher damn ceilings. Even if just by 1-2 feet taller. They make a room feel SO much more spacious and less claustrophobic.
So beautiful inside. Worth the 3 million. Would be good as a hotel. Love the vibrant use of colours throughout.
Hi Matt and Summer
I used to live in the village of Castle Eden. I lived next to the brewery in brewery house. I never saw the castle but now I have seen it!!
I can't tell you how much I love your channel.. You are both brilliant and I love nosing around these incredible properties..
Wow this is such a stunning castle! Congratulations on 150k guys! Really love your videos and exploring properties with you
Thank you!
I live right next to that Castle. As kids we used to go there to collect conkers. It's apparently very haunted bya ghost called 'The Grey Lady'. Used to frighten the lives out of us as kids. It was derelict for a looooong time. Especially in the 80's/90's and maybe even before that.
Really this castle have haunted case ?? I'm scared because soon one of my friend is decided to buy that
@@bandhusinghrathore6729 I mean, who knows if it's REALLY haunted. I'm just telling the story of what we were told as kids. Probably nonsense.
@@deltafit thanks bro for telling me by the way can I have ur email id please if you don't mind so
the whole house full of antique furnitures, beautiful n well maintained! such a lovely castle n more like a hotel than a house! The buyer needs to spend a lot to get furnished the whole castle ! Thanks for you to show us a beautiful n full of history place!
GREAT RENO !!! MASSIVE WOW
Absolutely beautiful property. I love the conservatory-style entrance especially - so unusual.
Absolutely worth the money. Spotless and breathtaking.
How beautiful! I hope whom ever buys it, takes good care of it!!!
Brilliant tour I'm gald to see your getting the growth and recognition you deserve
Thankyou so much
love that all bed rooms have bathrooms and toilet
Congrats on the 150K+ Your channel has grown massively. Most likely because of your hard work. Keep up the good work!! 😁🥰
Beautiful, and tastefully refurbished. A real gem!
There was a disappointing shortage of dragons in the dungeon :P .
But seriously that dungeon would make a great games room for playing D&D in.
Imagine playing D&D in an actual dungeon.
Now those are proper sized bedrooms and en suites. This is my favorite so far.
At last,a true Beauty!!! This castle is worthy of your effort. It has character and charm. It is inviting and has color! And this is a bargain as another viewer has commented. The land, gardens and house are lovely.
This is quite nice; not majestic, but somewhat grand and not the least bit tasteless.
Quite tasteful and spacious with sprawling lawns and gardens. It doesn't overlook a river, a lake, mountain or a hill, but, then, I suppose one can't have it all.
It's very good value for money, but where exactly is this?
It's neither over nor underdone; very nice, indeed.
This property is spectacular both inside and out. I too would make it into a hotel. The dungeon could definitely be a pool and spa area and its close to golf courses and the coast.
It IS a small hotel/B&B.
Absolutely beautiful.
Cool castle!! Beautiful! Pool in the dungeon is a great idea, heated pool!!
In Sydney, Australia for that much you could buy a house with 4 to 5 bedrooms next to the beach! That’s it while in UK you buy a whole manor!
This is home🥂🍾what a magnificent property!! Soooo gorgeous❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤wow
OMG!! I want that Dalek. Great video guys, you are spot on comparing the prices with London properties.
The 'flagship' hostel for the Scottish Youth Hostel Association (now called 'Hostelling Scotland') used to be Carbisdale Castle in the north of Scotland. Imagine staying at a castle, full of art treasures, statues, marble fireplaces, for only around £20 per night ! Sadly the castle was sold by the association several years ago. It can be seen on RUclips.
I love the whole place.
Really strange situation around the original owner. I would have to get to the bottom of that mystery if I lived there. Something interesting I suppose. The entrance through the orangery is beautiful. 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
amazing.. just mind blowing... love the elements of modern yet old ..a blend of different eras.. just beautiful
I would cover the walls of the second floor landing with bookcases and have that as a middle of the house library. I think it would look and feel incredible.
i love the old homes your tour! proper british houses ☺️
Matt, you were an estate agent. How about a video highlighting tips and tricks when dealing with an agent? Especially for first time buyers who don't know what they're doing?
Can't tell in my word how much nice it is
Summer has such a lovely soft voice , you both could do voice over work really well , I enjoy just listening to you both talk ;D
Ahh I’m from County Durham 🙌🏻 hope you enjoyed your time up north east 🙂 love watching your channel x
Best video so far and I’ve seen almost all of your videos. Amazing house for the price considering what you get for this price in London. Imagine if you were a kid who grew up in this amazing castle.
Cooking & baking is something I LOVE to do, the kitchen is a beautiful dream to me!!!
I noticed all the bathroom have a fireplace in them, which tells me these rooms were all bedroom and have been spit into smaller rooms for bathrooms. I wonder how many fireplaces it has. Working and not working. Beautiful home. A great price, but the up keep and maintenance is too much for most people.
I’d love to live here but it’s so huge!! I’d just look around and admire it all:) one could always use the fireplaces, they have been there a long time and meant to be used. Nothing like a wood fire:)

Haha! "Alfred" as a butler!! "Quick, to the batdungeon!" Haha! Would even be funnier if the gardener was named Robin! 🤔😳😁😆
Love the consistency ❤️❤️💃💃💃
I'm sure that I'm in no danger of affording something like this in the near future but you guys certainly did a lovely video of this incredible place!
Stunning, repeat STUNNING historic country house. And the bird murals in the formal sitting room ARE ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING!!! And HOW in the bloody Hell did you guys get the permission to just go through the house totally on your own!? JEALOUS here in the States!!
I love these old British Propertys so beautiful and holds so much history
im indian but i find british houses and architecture really gourgeous
I'd love to take that on and turn it into a hotel /wedding /filming venue with a spa in the dungeon. Upkeep would be a fortune though.. ill start saving the pennies
YESSS it would be a gorgeous wedding venue
It would be a perfect wedding (and other functions) venue - there is the beautiful St James Church nearby - which was for sale (I believe it has started doing services again).
Would you be able to say how much the cleaner and castle manager cost, and how much it costs to look after the outdoor space, gardens etc. Information on running costs for properties in this bracket would be really interesting. Thanks in advance 😆
This way 3 years ago now, but I rented this castle for Christmas with my family and it was amazing!
Simply Stunning, Many thanks for showing us all, Great tour and really enjoyed..
This is a bargain!!! Not like I've gone 3 quid never mind 3mil 🤣 BUT this is an amazing price for a property and grounds like this!!!
You know you've made it in life when you have a house big enough to get lost in 😄
Summer is now my new favorite season!
I love the look of this so far and I’m liking the vlog style of video at the start. Can’t wait to watch it!
Such a beautiful castle. Love the furniture, paintings in this castle. Be interesting to see other properties to tour.
This is a charming castle actually.
Glad you featured it.
Congrats on the 150k!
This would be a great hotel.
11 Bedrooms × 150 a night × 365 × (75% occupancy) = $451,687. more than pay it off in 10 yrs. even with upkeep, food, staff to help clean, etc. but still I think it could work.
Wow stumbled across this channel
Love it!
Looks like it’s been renovated
May have rented it out the rooms periodically
-I’d love to keep it, and rent portions of it out for tours and private events wedding etc (if allowed)
Emphasis on the historical value of the property
Garden looks amazing!
That's a real sort of property! [according to me]
What a bloody outstanding infrastructure! One of the most beautiful castle I've ever seen specially at this price point though! I'm actually blown away.....!
Would like you see more of these.
20:08 matt what on earth were you thinking about when she said that 😆 personally I think I would put the laundry room upstairs in one of those smaller storage room's and use almost the whole basement dungeon as a wine cellar/ tasting area with a wooden table in one of the rooms and an entire sofa set with a long Tea table with some wooden carved animals supporting the table as legs in another room and man cave in another
