    I would love to live in a house like this with so much character. It's unlike most luxury homes which tend to be too pristine and bland

      It is all about the design philosophy. Classical design uses concepts of design that go back to era of the Romans. The Brent hull channel on RUclips goes into the details about such design concepts. That can be implemented into modern design.

    Used to live literally next door (Boldre Grange was part of our address) and visited often as a child. I learnt to ride a bike in the tennis court you see at 11:20, which is part of the property we lived at. I showed my mum this video and she asked “are the apple trees still there?”, she has fond memories of picking apples from the orchard. Wonderful video, I can definitely appreciate all the architectural detail and nuances now that I’m older. When I was younger, though, I definitely thought it was haunted 😂

      The drawing room, essentially the lady's "withdrawing room," was usually the main public room of a Victorian home. These rooms were feminine, comfortable and hospitable. Places for receiving guests, they were platforms to show off one's wealth, culture and taste.

  • @davewesley11
    @davewesley11 Год назад +64

    For me I preferred the grounds more than the house. I think it would be good to live in with an extended family, because you could still easley split the property, but if it was just one family you would need to re sort out the rooms. You wouldn't need three kitchens and so many bedrooms. Making them into different uses. I think you would have to spend a fair amount to get it flowing better and still not looking like three different properties.

    • @MisaloSloe
      @MisaloSloe Год назад

      I suppose its because it was split into three and so three kitchens and lots of bedrooms 3 or 4 for each house

    I would like to say something about the presentation. I have seen dozens of British grand houses on YT and your presentation has been one of the finest I have ever seen. There is a spontaneity and friendliness about you that makes the whole experience very pleasant and entertaining. I appreciate it when people make an effort to speak clearly and eloquently as you do.
    PS: I shall start playing Lotto again, that would be my only chance to buy such a beautiful property. 😆😆😆

      I agree, he seems genuinely interested in the property and it's history. Much more easygoing and authentic compared to other agents. Usually I tune out when people try to sell me a property and make up my own mind about it, but his commentary really livened the experience.

Rising to prominence in the 1800s - and best known for their 'Reliance' safe - the Tanns were the most famous of all Victorian safe-building families. The Chancery Lane Safe Deposit Company and Bank of England used John Tann products.

    This is what's known as an "Arts and Crafts" style house, William Morris being the most famous practitioner. it is actually a precursor to Art Nouveau and eventually modernism, it's neither Tudor or Victorian and Richard Norman Shaw might slap you in the face for labeling it as such, lol. Arts and Crafts was a reaction against the high ornamentation and falseness of Victorian era art and architecture, and although it may not appear the same to us today, was meant to be simple, honest and above all modern, fit for suburban, rather than rural life.
