We had a record breaking week for this time of the year! We were running 4 trailers almost every day this week and could hardly keep up! Enjoy the video!
When i drive someone else's truck i put everything back the way i found it. When someone drives my assigned truck and leaves empty bottles and garbage, doesn't move the seat back where I had it, it's a sign of disrespect.
Trucks getting a sand blasting in that pit. 😢 Retired now , but never ran a loader without a steering wheel. 😂 It would be pretty easy to adapt after running bobcats and dozers. Except for having that thing in front of me to lean on sometimes. Edit , nothing is overkill when chaining down equipment.
Hi Mike, It was so nice to see you again! We could’ve talked trucks all day.😉 Tired of seeing you wash your truck? Nah, it’s the same scene here.😊 Awesome job getting your trailer out of a tight space. Have a great time at the truck show looking forward to your videos. Keep on truckin😊👍
Really enjoyed this one Mike. Really enjoyed the couple that stopped into Dysarts and thought it was cold. They should be up this way when we have a real winter. Looking forward to MATS and getting a chance to chat with you. Safe travels.. be safe
It would be nice to see the Boston Trucker and the 717 Trucker meet up in KY> You two fellows are my favorite youtubers. Both of you can speak without the profanity. Thanks . Keep Safe
DEF is goof on the industry. When it first came out we were in the process of buying some new trucks and went through the stupidity of the beginning of anything new. So did everyone else, I know that. Enjoy your youtube hobby. Dominique and Steve FSC will be there. There's someone else I watch sometimes who is going to try to make it. Yeah, I always tried to put my truck in the shop when I was on vacation. Someone always ended up driving it at least part of the week I was off. I had one of two sleepers outta 8 trucks on our board. So, unless they grabbed a driver and truck from a different location to fill in? Someone was in it. Great video! Family first.
Mike- I just noticed you are wearing a ring on your right hand. I would never tell you what to do but it probably isn't safe. Up to you, of course. JM P&G&STM's
Hey Mike my Uncle Rudy had a tunneling and boring business here in NJ he started in the late 50s when I was a kid in 1977 I was 10 YO we would go to his yard long story short I was operating his international Hough 400 loader series C I was riding on his lap for years Mike it’s was a giant loader that’s how I learned he would say as your going into the pile start lifting the bucket to get traction on the front but my favorite was his komatsu D355A dozer had some big equipment
I've always wanted to go to the Mid America Truck show. The closest big industry show was when Boston had their big show. And your family tip coming up, rent an RV. You'll get a trucking feel, sort of.
Lol I wanna say I wouldn't call them operating cause barely anything comes out with new emissions trucks but yea one is the other a dummy stack not even hooked up just for looks all they are now days
Video greatness as always. I run primarily in Upstate NY, but got to adventure out to New England this past week. I ran across Rt.2 (from 91) out into your stomping grounds. I picked up a load in Watertown at "Newly Weds Foods", it was a little tight, but got it done. I use to run out that way frequently with another company, but don't get out that way much anymore. Have a safe trip out to Kentucky. Stay safe, and have a good one.
The old time loggers/lowbedders would say chaining down your load causes the truck to roll over. I'm a believer in making sure things are well secure. You can never get anything with rubber tires absolutely tight. Rubber tired backhoes are the worst. You look in the mirror they are dancing on the trailer. You'll have Anthony driving your truck while you are gone. You'll come back the seat will be broken 😂
@@TheBostonTrucker What the loggers used to get away with doesn't fly today. Too many people on the road, traffic has gotten worse, many guys in the lowbed hauling got rid of their lowbed because its too much stress hauling oversize loads. Lowbed tractors are a little different they have lowbed ramps the trucks are heavier spec'd with 46,000lb rear axles minimum 14,000lb steer axle, they also run BC jump jeeps so they have 7 axles. Lowbeds here have dove tail ramps so equipment can be loaded over the back without breaking the neck. The deck of the bed can be up to 10 feet wide, the machines around here weigh 94,000lbs. Excavation contractors their machines weigh 57,000lbs so they are not hauling heavy loads.
Hey Boston trucker how are you doing today my friend I love watching our videos they your RUclips videos they are very educational videos and keep up the good work and I hope you see you in person someday hopefully
Hey man just run across your video that’s a nice truck.I travel a lot for my job I like listening to truckers while Im on the road I’m a trucker myself I move drilling rigs for one of the biggest company in the world but anyway I smashed that subscribe button and like button keep up the good videos man I’ll be watching!!
You did fine chaining. With the bar locked the chains in the middle aren't actually required (without they are) but because the pin is so high on the back that gives almost no leverage for fore and aft movement. So since that chain angle sucks, the cross chaining in the middle is a good option. You would be better off chaining the bucket than the arm and I'm almost positive that you're required to chain it if quick-tach. The front and rear chains are from the trailer through the load to the trailer so those are full weight rating of the weakest link. Looks like 3/8" g70 so 6,600 lbs. The cross chains are trailer to the load so those give you half the rated capacity each. so 3300 lbs each. Technically those chains shouldn't rub against each other either so maybe just change to the next D ring if the binder allows. Need a min of half of the load weight. You have 6600 x 2 plus 3300 x 4. 26400. You're covered to 52800. That WA380 is low 40's? So weight wise you're good (and reasonably strong in a hard brake situation) but a few technicalities noted above Could be considered violations. Nothing was unsafe though.
Well I'm not sure which model 380 that is, but I'll assume I'm the one hauling it and its a 380-8. So with a bucket it would be around 44000 pounds. I would also be using 3/8 G70 chains, so I would do one chain on each corner, one chain over the bucket itself and one chain threw the center ( not to lock out articulation since you have the transport lock ) to get the full 6600 WWL of the chain. I would only go threw the center if I needed more WLL or there was no transport lock. So with those 6 chains and binders you would have 26400 LBS of securement. You will absolutely need 6 chains and binders for that load if you are using 3/8 G70. That's how I personally would haul that front end loader. The only thing I see wrong with how you did it is no chain over the bucket, I personally wouldn't have put 4 chains in the center pulling out but thats just me. However if you did everything the same except put a chain over the bucket you'd be fine. A good rule of thumb to remember about equipment is the manufacture does not always factor attachments to operating weight. So different buckets wouldn't weigh the same, maybe the tires are filled for ballast maybe a different or added counterweights, maybe it has forks etc. As for chains touching, I've asked a New Hampshire DOT officer about it and he said it doesn't matter, plus I couldn't find any info about chains touching in the FMCSA rules. But rules are always subject to change so I would always look to see whats changed every now and then. I love watching your channel, especially the equipment hauling part when you have to, since that's what I do for a living.

Another great video Mike. I noticed when you were driving your new truck back to the yard. They did not put anything in that empty space in the gauge cluster.I thought they were going to put something in there?
Hey Boston Trucker, Have you ever worked at the Boston Autoport moveing salt salt from the ships. I worked there from 2012 If so I may have seen you and that beautiful Kenny.
What I want to know is, how did that trailer dump in the beginning make it there without spilling its load all over the road!? Didn’t use the manual locks on the tailgate! 😮 Also, please tell me that your new truck will have the trailer tailgate, and dump valve controls in the cab so you don’t have to get out like a savage. I’d keep your old truck and let a new guy get the new truck.
FYI...clearing fault codes ("on the run" with an "app", or in the shop by an indifferent tech) DOES NOT correct the problem to which they apply. Think of it as "sweeping dirt under the rug".
