My dad worked for Plymouth Rock in the 70s, along with Herman Forwarding, and a few others. He ended up getting on the list at Stop & Shop and retired from there 20 years ago. I told my dad I wanted to drive a truck. He then threatened to break my legs if I ever got behind the wheel of a truck.
Now you have to go to the polish Cafe someday and do some investigation and find out who owns it and see if they would take you inside so you can do a RUclips video on it
You and I are the old school Mass Registry Police recipients of our class 1. Nowadays it’s hard to find anyone who remembers them 😝 The Road goes on Forever and the Highway never ends 👍
Man listening to you talk about riding with your dad, & the clicking of the shifter & truckstops etc, Reminds me of riding with my Pops as a kid, a the air window & windshield wipers hissing back & forth, & being his lumper/helper loading & unloading the trailer, & later when he worked for a used truck sales company, & helping deck the trucks 3 or 4 together & going all over getting them.& all the different trucks thru all the years. It brought back alot of good memories! Love hearing the stories, Thanks for sharing.
My favorite as a kid was pulling the parking brake, adjusting the air wipers (getting that smell on your hands), pulling the horn when kids were doing the universal sign, climbing to the nose of the trailer looking for addresses. Mike- do you remember the big round hand sink at CCO? I think of that when I smell borax.
Cool stories Mike my first ride with my Dad I was about 4 Dad drove for a guy in west suburban Melrose Park Illinois the tractor was a day cab I - H 4000 conventional we were hooked to a old half side trailer with A huge brake press for Jones McLauflin up near Providence Rhoda Island my Mom was with I rode on her lap & the dog house it was ruff but exciting this job was temporary until he got called back to his regular job my Dad was on what they call Company Lock out not a strike the drivers showed up the company said we can’t let you in you will have to look that up to see what it means those were the days oh by the way I - 80 was not complete yet so it was on & off a lot of state roads but we made it
I’m 61 my Dad drove a ‘70 Mack R700 with a 318 Detroit always rode with him during summer vacation he hauled Lumber for Diamond International in South Walpole Mass. Dan Rounds called my Father a Legend which was a compliment coming from him.
My first truck ride was a mack rd tri axle dump truck in the summer and winter time was a marmon sander had a cat engine loved the smell once in awhile I'll just get a smell of the cat lol
Great video, congrats on fitting into that shirt! That's a great feeling lol. First time I rode in a truck I'm sure was on a milk crate also. Probably a Brockway water truck on the Belmont Park main track.
Love the story’s Mike can’t wait for next part of these videos I love listening to the Stories of your career and also the name you couldn’t remember was Ken Casper’s I think that was how you spell it but I remembered that from your one video on bud myer
These are my favorite videos that you put out. I remember you did a 4 video series about your early years and the companies you've worked for. That was around the time Covid hit, which is when I subscribed to you're channel. I was in trucking school at the time. Fast forward 4 years and I love my career as a trucker. Best decision i've ever made. My only regret was starting at 29 instead of 21. Keep up the good work Mike you're a good story teller
Bjs was the superstore for zayre much like sams club is to walmart. C-Line used to haul a lot of tupperware all over the us and sadly there are no more tupperware plants in the us and are close to going out of business. New truck should be done soon ?
Mike i really enjoy the videos that you do when you interview other drivers especially the older guys who have been there and done that .I always love the ones where you talk about all the jobs that you have had and the places you have worked and the oned about all the truck stops and the things that happen out on the road when you ran it .The pictures you have are amazing and enjoy all of them .Keep up makeing those type of videos they never get old
Mike the reason they didn’t want you to make the list is because they didn’t have to pay you for holidays or vacation. The key to make a list was too work eleven days they don’t call them except on your 12th day that was on the same month that’s how I made the list at Hemingway Bros. I bounced for a long while working for over twenty Companies in the city and road 73. Bill
Hey Boston trucker how are you doing today my friend so I love watching your RUclips videos they are very educational videos and keep up the good work and the content is very will done so how can I get my trucking license up north in Canada
The Clinton Diner. Closed but the fuel stop next door is still operating. The property is said to be owned by Lehigh Gas Corp. Allentown Pa. You should get permission to do a video tour of it. The old stickers would be Nostalgic !
You should do an interview with your dad sometime!

That's right, the air wipers and all the sounds and smells that you don't find today.
@@TheBostonTrucker That's a fact, trucks are luxurious compared to the trucks from back in those days.

Stop and ask the fuel clerk if it'd be possible.

Hi from Dexter🏠Missouri
Keep eating those "Toasted Cheezit's" and it won't fit for another 10 years.......LOL

Union trucking is clicky, you have to know someone. My opinion
What a lead up to the Walmart story and no punch line . I’ve seen it before.
