- The best comparison between the two games Sons of the Forest(2023) and Red Dead Redemption 2 (2018), I will compare the most important similarities, physics, details, textures and special places in the game. The entire video was created by myself (GameLight).
Sons of the Forest is an open world game where you have to find a missing billionaire on a remote island, you find yourself in a cannibal-infested hellscape. Craft, build, and struggle to survive, alone or with friends, in this terrifying new open-world survival horror simulator.

Sons of the Forest and RDR2 are two different games that are hugely different and comparing these games is illogical, I understand that. The main theme of this comparison is a small company vs the biggest and most detailed game, and I would like to show what small studios (15 people) can create in terms of graphics and atmosphere closer to big games.
Well written.
Yes they're quite impressive but in my opinion they should expand their team since they earned a lot of money from the two games and could benifit from creating a bigger studio.
This way they'll be able to produce probably the best titles of the decade, an opportunity that they already have with sons of the forest.

Yeah, they can skimp on gameplay to make it purdy, still looks good I may pick that up, would of been cool if they put a survival mode in reddead and I got a ps4 so don’t say mods unless you know how it can be done
The fact that Sons of The Forest is being compared to RDR 2 is amazing and the fact that RDR 2 is still being compared to newer games even after releasing 5 years ago and still being a benchmark is immensly impressive.
U kinda got it wrong, comparing a indie game vs a game made by one of biggest companies (Rockstar) that has been working on details since gta 3 is just wonderful 😂
@@MrUnknown-fm4iz Na you got it wrong in fact. Find a game within one year of RDR2 release that could compare in all categories.. Story, Voice acting, Graphics, Animations... Try to find a game within 4 years of RDR2 release that can compare with it.. Ghosts of Tsushima falls short.. Cyberpunk falls short.. Atomic Heart? What else? Elden Ring was ok but still it's a far cry from RDR2.. different game entirely though so it can be hard to compare and up to opinion I guess..
Not shitting on Sons by any means, it is like 3 weeks into its early access release so I assume they'll keep pushing updates as they did with the original.. but if you think Sons will even come within a fraction of what RDR2 was, even after Sons full release, you'll be mistaken.
Endnight Games is doing one hell of a job on the Forest series, big fan of them. Can't compare to Rockstar, whole different league

In the end Awarding Rockstar for beating a indie game in details, while ur calling it a 2023 game is not fair, infact I'm surprised to see that a indie game is getting that much of details!

Sons Of The Forest is very small team... they will more likely to struggle with reaching the same qualily level of a rich AAA Company and 3000+ employees with much experience... but also keep in mind that they are different, the main focus of RDR2 is the story and is why it even existed, Son Of The Forest is the survival, and even for a small team they nailed it, they will keep adding content and fixes to the game to make it better. I love rdr2 but Sons still great.
The fact that sons of the forest can even compare to Red Dead redemption 2 is absolutely insane, but also you have to look at how many years it's been and how far technology has evolved
Yes mate, that's what I'm thinking too. Technologies are developing, but Rockstars have always been several years ahead, but I hope a new part of GTA will be released soon

I know there's 5 years of difference between each other, but I think this is a demostration of how the creators of Sons of The Forest care about their product, It's amazing how there's some details that can be compared to RDR2 that was made by tons of devs while SOTF was made by a team of less than 10 people!! This is pure talent and dedication guys, not only better technology.

For a 5 year gap there are definitely some improvements made on pre-existing tech like the snow tessellation effects but overall Sons of The Forest doesn't even come close to the fidelity and detail on display in Red Dead Redemption 2. There are aspects of the visual presentation which are naturally improved as the tech has improved over time but other than that it's really not even comparable in only but a few aspects.

They absolutely nailed the moose dying animation. That's the exact way animal behaves when shot in the head
i notice there is the same thing in SOTF when you hit the head with a throwing spear , the moose / deer make an agony animation on the floor where you can hit him to end his misery

Да, только не забывай что Rockstar делали игры ещё на MS-DOS c 1998г. и игр уже наверно более 100 релизнуты. И инди-студия Endnight у которых релизнута только 1 игра в 2014г. The Forest. Одна игра, чувак. Это говорит о том, что с должным опытом в гейм деве, времени, человеческим ресурсом и деньгами приходит и всё остальное. Зато сам лес ахерительный в SofF, а в RDR2 как ты выражаешься - сырой.

why do people keep bringing up the fact that its 5 years older, that doesnt matter. Rdr2 is still being patched and updated likely, so rockstar can also use this new technology. Its not only available to games that are still being made. 3000 people is yknow, a lot considering end night has like 15 people

It is incredible as a 4 year old game, I beat this magnificent new game, still in my opinion rdr2 wins, but they are both very handsome.
