i like the shown respect for beginners. cause nobody is born a a pro turntableist. it´s right to start very slow and get the moves and baby scratch sounds clean. so great videos!
Hi guys, I've been extremely busy with different projects, gigs and private life and as a result I was not able to make new video's in the last two weeks. I'm back in the lab right now and the new video's are dropping asap! Thanks for the support and patience. TLM
Hy am here with this question M a laptop dj I don't know if am qualified to even be called a dj cause I don't have a controller.....How do I get gigs and to dj in parties...cause my clint's always reduce me to zero cause I do not own a controller....it's really depressing cause m really good at it....Hw did u guys do it in ur day cause what I make from djing is not enough for me....not to talk of saving for a new controller Thanks I trust ur answer will be of help to me
This is excellent, not only you're great at explaining the technique, you have also mixed the audio for your video very very well. Your levels are just right. I like how you switched the audio path from your in room speakers, to a direct input for the audio channel for the video, when you make a demonstration. This pro quality work all the way through.
Hi guys, Due to health issues I couldn't finish video's I was working on (NS7-2 review) and I can't record new video's either. I lost my voice over the weekend and that makes it a bit difficult to record stuff ;) I should be fine in a couple of days so stay tuned! For the DJ's who would like to be part of the Saturday Super Session: Join the Saturday Super Session and send me your own video!
djTLMtv dj TLM, Thanks for the tutorials. They are the bomb. I have a question. Do you have any tips for scratching with a Pioneer DDJ-SR. Since the jog weels are motorized, I find it a little harder to get that same sound of the baby scratch and drops from your tutorial. Can you help a Brother out? -dj damonJ
Thanks for this video brah. Salute. I down loaded the tracks you used and my practice session consists of me using what you've shown us for the entire track. Baby scratch over the beat with the left hand for the duration of the song and then do the same with the right hand. Your vids are to the point with no fluff and you really break it down. Salute.
Cool stuff TLM! I really appreciate your patience and approach! Would you be kind enough to give us a few advices on which types of sounds to choose for scratching? Thank you !
Hi TLM, your tutorials are amazing! I learned so much with them! I totally fell in love with the intro sample ahahaha please! Pleaseeee! Can you say where did you get it?? I hope you will upload new scratch tutorials soon!! Thx :D
First time on your channel, Im in to Hardstyle Djing and Producing, and i have to say... Very impressive stuff !!! u explain it very clearly !! Hope everythings okay now !! Cheers
First I wanna say, Thanks for taking the time out of your busy life to help us nubees out. With that said, I'm trying the drop scratch on ddj sr but when I let go of jog wheel my sound starts at normal speed. Is there a setting I'm missing?
I know this is an older video, but I am just getting into the scratching side of mixing and this is a very helpful video, the one before this one too, also very helpful...thank you for sharing the knowledge.
Hey Dj TLM a big repect from DJ tonka from Panama 507 my name is Daniel, man let me tell you this I star DJ stuff because I saw your MJ (R.I.P) rutine and I was dj in a few party but man you are a serius one of my FAVORITE DJ for shor, I have a numar NS7 and right now Im taking and praticing your scratching tutorial bless you my friend, and I hope you make a tutorial for the NUMARK NS7
baby scratches and drops on a simple beat and it already sounds like fire when you do it well! Great teaching! makes me wanna spend some money hahahahaha
I respect you my friend like an old musician but Dj amateur. The excellent way u teach and share ur knowledge with people, with a lot of clarity and humility, speak a lot about the great values u have as a person and as a professional. By the way i know is not necessary remark, but ur fuck talent and ur humility make u bigger.!
Awesome! Times like this I need to put my turntables into good use whilst at home! Always wanted to learn to scratch... I don’t use a computer, love old hip hop, Public Enemy, De La Soul etc etc etc... recommend any good vinyl’s, or would you use a start with a vocal to eventually drop?
You mean good vinyl to practice scratching? Because you can basically use any record and any sound to practice. But if you would prefer to have a nice collection of “scratch sounds” on vinyl you should look for battle breaks like “Super Duck Breaks”, “Scratchy Seal” and tons more
I'm loving the videos. One or two questions. Are you using a record for scratching? Basically, what does the scratch record sound like if played at normal speed? If this is the case, how do you pick a spot within any track you're playing in a set?
Hi! I've been watching your tutorials and it's very helpful! I was just wonderin if I could get an advice regarding to "NON-touch sensitive" (not sure if that's the right term) jogwheels. Been using a Numark Partymix dj controller for a few months now (Newbie here) so far mixing and beatmatching is okay but when I start to try different techniques of scratching it has some sort of a delay when I let go of the jogwheel. Peace out! Elijah, Canada
I haven’t used that controller so it’s hard for me to say. But I have used quite a fee entry level “basic” controllers and they all worked for scratching
Thanks for the tutorial , I've recently have rekindled my DJ aspirations since my sl1 went on the fritz. I bought some used ones from the local dj shop here in san fernando and I'm back in the game. I have both turntables and cdj s, but my preference r cdj s. I will try the baby scratch and the drop and see how it turns out. I shouldnt have any problems with beat matching as in H.s. I played the Violin. But it's been a while. I thinking about getting the rane 72 with its matching twelve platters. What do u think. Anyways thank u, an happy holidays.
I'd love to get right into turntablism and beat juggling but drops seem to be where I'm stuck at. I think I just have a terrible sense of rhythm 🤣 Do you practice set patterns so that you can repeat them later or do you go by feel? Having no sense of rhythm if I tried to go by feel it would just sound like a mess so I'm just curious how others do it.
sorry i am so confuse because when i use drops a little bit then i have to scroll back over half my jog wheel to come back the same spot... i am using MK3 S2 and Traktor pro 3 do u have any idea? also u r the greatest DJ teacher i even met omg ur too good :D
Hey man any tips on pulling back the record? I know you said to move with the platter even if you drop it, but I’m still finding it a little difficult. I guess it’s cause I don’t know how much to move forward/back? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance !
I'm quite amateur still but in the mean time if anyone needs basic recording I usually record from board output to another computer in "Audacity" because its so basic and you can export into mp3 or other formats easy, this program is also free for anyone to download and use.
I am really enjoying these videos. When I am practicing the drops with music, the beat on that side interferes with the music on the other side and it sounds bad. How to avoid this? Thanks.
I have an idea for the problem of knowing how far you need to take the record back. Like on some controllers, you have this on (mine) CDJs 350, too. For that you need to set the Cue right before the sound starts. Then you let the sound go and pull back the record. You need to do this a few times, and soon you become a feeling for how far you need to pull back the record. Very easy, you just need to practise.
You went to the right place though. All the beats are on my Soundcloud. The beat I used in this video is called The Subway and it’s in the Free Beats & Scratch Sounds playlist
Hi ive bought myself a scratch vinyle and have a nice sample (using the gemini tt02 direct drive) and was wondering seen as im scratching do i need to make my sample the same tempo as my beat or can i leave it as it is ? Cheers
i like the shown respect for beginners. cause nobody is born a a pro turntableist. it´s right to start very slow and get the moves and baby scratch sounds clean. so great videos!
Very true. Thanks!

Love the videos my guy. Just wondering if you how where I can get the scratch sample? All the ones I have found are pre scratched samples
I have playlists with free beats and scratch sounds on my Soundcloud page (djtlm).

Great work dude
I'm loving the videos. One or two questions. Are you using a record for scratching? Basically, what does the scratch record sound like if played at normal speed? If this is the case, how do you pick a spot within any track you're playing in a set?

Are you moving the platter to every best?
DUDE! YOU ARE AWESOME!!!
Curious should we be doing these exercises with the left hand as well? I assume it would be beneficial to be ambidextrous
Hey man any tips on pulling back the record? I know you said to move with the platter even if you drop it, but I’m still finding it a little difficult. I guess it’s cause I don’t know how much to move forward/back? Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance !
Awesome tutorial!
what is your soundcloud page, i couldnt get a hold of the samples. Learn so much from u man.
thanks man hollas from spain cool video i learn whit you homie¡¡¡

Hi ive bought myself a scratch vinyle and have a nice sample (using the gemini tt02 direct drive) and was wondering seen as im scratching do i need to make my sample the same tempo as my beat or can i leave it as it is ?
Cheers
Hello Dj TLM,
on your side, I can't find the Beats! Can you make the tracks available to us please? Is very important for me.
So question is it the movement that makes the specific sound or that combined with a certain audio?
Awesome ! Enjoed it and tried it , showed my friends what a learned of scratch they sad - WOW that was a waist of time .
Great tutorial!!
Hey djTLM! I was wondering if I could have these scratch samples and beats?
