    How does this work, just shoots out a beam of halogen or LED light in the night to help your optic?

      @outdoorlegacy  4 года назад +2

      Sizzco No it is an infrared light. Human and animals can’t see infrared light but digital night vision scopes have an IR filter that allows it to see it, just like it would visible light. When you turn these lights on, you can’t tell they are on....it’s infrared

    How is this a product review when there is no night time video of it actually in use?

      Thanks for watching our video. I totally agree that it would definitely be helpful to have a video showing what the UNV 20IR can do. The problem is, what it does on the Sightmark Photon XT is much different than what it looks like when used with the Pulsar Digisight N750 or with the ATN X-Sight II vs what it looks like with the Armasight Sirius GEN 3 and the list goes on forever.
      I fully realize that it's disappointing to a lot of people to not be able to see what it actually does with their particular scope. And if I had the time, we'd definitely be shooting all those videos, no doubt about it. We do have videos posted to our channel showing the 20IR in use with the Photon XT on an actual hog kill video I filmed.
      What I tried to do with this video was to answer the questions that I was commonly getting about the 20IR. I realize giving a basic overview of the illuminator, the package contents and explaining what it will and won't do isn't perfect but it has helped fill a void that was there before and hopefully answered a lot of general questions that people have. Thanks again for watching.

      Outdoor Legacy Gear Do a video with a Gen 3 PVS-7 and PVS-14 with this light. Digital NV is garbage

      Thanks for the suggestion.
      However, hundreds of our customers would disagree with that last comment about digital. : )

    Could this be mounted on the rail that is on the gas block?

      Thanks for the question Michael. It depends on your setup, but my short answer would be....maybe. I don't like getting the IR light on the exact same plane as as the NV optic AND in front of it. That can cause some glare or white out issues, depending on your optic. If you use the included offset mount, that will help a little bit because that is going to set the light off to the side about 1" and at least it won't be 100% in front of your scope. I'd still prefer to have it moved back a little bit or have it lower, more in line with the handguards. With that said, again, it depends on what optic you are using it with and it's going to be hard to say without testing it with your setup.
      I know that's not a yes or no answer but I hope it helps.

    This might sound stupid... but is it okay to put on a FAST helmet?

      I can see no reason why not but we no longer carry this IR illuminator as it’s outdated and the newer models and technology have moved well past these older units.

    I have a Sightmark Photon RT... what is THE BEST long range IR Illuminators? Thank yoi

    • @outdoorlegacy
      @outdoorlegacy  5 лет назад

      The RT shouldn’t need any extra illumination. A really bright IR like the 20IR here doesn’t really that add much if any distance capabilities to the RT. The RT has the brightest built in IR of any digital NV scope on the market. I’ve tried several external IR’s with the RT and none of them really gained you much, definitely not enough to justify the cost. With that said, I haven’t used it and I don’t sell it but I’ve seen some videos and been told that the Coyote Light CL4000 is the best and it will let you reach way out, but it’s $400 and it’s literally the size of a spray pain can. It’s not something I’d ever want to attach to my setup but to each his own. It’s definitely the brightest from what I’ve seen and heard.

    Will this work with the sightmark photon 6,5x50 L scope?

      @outdoorlegacy  7 лет назад +1

    does it work for gen 1?

    • @outdoorlegacy
      @outdoorlegacy  8 лет назад

      Not very well. It is not recommended for Gen 1 because those optics do not benefit from it near as much as Gen 2, Gen 3 and thermal.

    fwiw, this video intro is way too long.

      LL L Yep I agree. We changed it over a year ago to a super short 2 second logo flash intro. It’s nice that YT has the double tap 10sec skip though, so at least it only takes a tap to skip it. Thanks for watching
