I must have been one of the elect, for I ran from him, I refused to believe his word, and I was ok as long as I decided what was right, according to what seemed right for me. Well God had other plans, He made so many things happen in my life, and finely put me in a place where there was but one book to read, and for 3yrs I read that Bible and I prayed hard every day that he would save me, and He did just that, Im not the man I was 11yrs ago, He changed my heart and I thank him every day. I can boast of nothing but Him who saved me.
Praise the Lord. I use the analogy that I had built myself into a finely constructed castle and prepared it against any assault, and God besieged me and breached all my defenses and conquered me. I resisted at every step, but God was determined to have me.
NOT forgetting that your salvation has nothing to do with you but , is all of God from beginning to end , for you are saved by Grace Alone , through Faith Alone , in Jesus Christ Alone , and All to the Glory of God Alone , He even made you willing in the day of His Power ! .

I am beginning to understand that I, as a believer IN Christ for 44 years, was chosen by my Heavenly Father. predestined to be a member of the Body of Christ in this dispensation of the GRACE of God! I am ecstatic over what I've just learned by my Savior Jesus who is using His obedient servant Ps. John to get this crucial message across! God is the Potter, we his creation are the clay!!!
Unfortunately, MacArthur is biblically incorrect when he teaches that God arbitrarily chooses, before the foundation of the world, that you should go to heaven, and your neighbor is "predestined" to hell, and there is NOTHING he can do about it. This is what MacArthur, Sproul, Washer, Lawson, and others of reformed theology teach. And the Word of God does NOT teach this.
Also read Romans 8 : 28 _ 39 . Eph 1 : 3 - 12 , Its great to hear that Gods people can be Ecstatic over the wonder of what Almighty God and Father in Jesus Christ has done for them before the world was made , it shows that you are truly one of His Elect people , Hallelujah ,I am still Overwhelmed by the Wonder of it all , and always will be .Cheers and God Bless !.

Thank you for the sermon and truth on the election. I’m facing this with my cell group who does not believe. They use John 3:16 that God so loved the world. Am glad to hear your sermons and numerous verses to the truth of God’s sovereign choice
They can’t stop at 3:16. They have to continue reading on to 17 and 18. For Christ didn’t come into the world to condemn the world but save the world. He that believes in him is not condemned, but he would doesn’t trust in the Lord is condemned already.
...But look up John 3:16 in the Original Greek it was written in. It says "All the believing ones"...Not Whosoever will. I just found an amazing Book today at a yard sale from John Calvin. Called "A Compend of the Institute's of the Christian Religion by John Calvin" edited by Hugh T. Kerr... It's copyright 1939... But what he says about Election is incredible. He was going to college to become a Lawyer... Brilliant mind...and was suddenly "Birthed" into God's Kingdom. He said Soo much Knowledge from God was poured out to His understanding. Learning Sound Theology In Romans 8:28-30 Paul is discussing the forefathers, who loved God, as an example of hope for the church in Rome. As Paul encourages the church, he uses men like Abraham as an example, for the hope that we have. I believe this to be a reiteration of statements he made in Romans 4. There’s no reason not to think that the foreknew in Romans 8, is of the same class of people as the foreknew in Romans 11........ Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Rom 11:1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin. 2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew....... Amos 3:1 Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying, 2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities. And Me I will never cease to wonder at the Amazing love of God for sinners like me , all praise and Glory be unto Him for choosing His people not because they were good , but because He would make us Good , Hallelujah !.

When Adam and Eve fell in the garden we All inherited their fallen nature , sin is what we did best and even our best works were as filthy rags to Almighty God , thats why we needed a Saviour , there is none good no not one , but Almighty God in His mercy choose to Himself a people in Jesus Christ Before the world was made , not because of any good He foresaw in them but because He Loved them , when Jesus Christ died upon the cross He has paid in Full the penalty for ALL of the sins of those whom the Father has given to Him , making them sinless spotless and without stain in His eyes , and to those He also gives the Gift of Faith , that does not mean we can go on sinning ,if we do that it just shows we were never one of His Chosen People . I absolutely believe in the doctrine of Predestination and Election. If we survey the whole bible critically, the scripture speaks about it clearly from Genesis to Revelation. That is the Truth, whether we like it or not. If Christ is in us, we ceased sinning. As human being sin is always near them, but they can be aware of it. A christian can be quick to repent. Those Elect are the Bride of Christ. Christ will come for them. Because if it is not so, Christ has nothing to come for.
Ok? Have you notice that not once has JM ever spoken about the gospel of Mark? The Gospel of Mark, rightly divides Predestination and Election. Your inability to understand scripture latches on to a secure; fire insurance, gospel. God predestined those who would believe. Period. Mark 1:15, "...the time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, REPENT and believe the in the Gospel. Mark 9:23 "...if you can believe all things are possible." Joel 2:28, "And it shall come to pass afterward, THAT I SHALL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT ON ALL FLESH, your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions." God is Righteousness Personified. God predestined those who would believe. Free Will, given to all men Sovereignly. 1 Timothy, "who (God) desires, ALL MEN TO BE SAVED AND AND TO COME TO THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE TRUTH." I could continue. The chosen and elected are those who believe... To close... Revelations 3:5, "He who overcomes shall be clothed in white garments, AND I WILL NOT BLOT OUT HIS NAME FROM THE BOOK OF LIFE: but I will confess his name before My Father and before His Angels. We are saved by Grace, it’s a gift from God not of ourselves. My understanding of predestination is Gods for knowledge of who will accept His gift of Salvation. I’d like to think I’m special that the Lord God of the Universe chose me before the foundation of the world but I’m just not that special. I’m a sinner in need of a Savior. I heard God call me loud and strong. He persued me and my heart and how could I resist His call? He’s the most Loving Amazing forgiving Graceful God! Who am I that i would be chosen? I am no one actually the least of my family and have been rejected by them.
What you believe is called Armeniansm , it was brought in many years ago by one called Jacob Armenius , and it was condemn as Heresy , By thinking that way what you are saying is that You are God and He can only do what you let him do That is Wrong teaching and was brought into this country by John Wesley many years ago . I am a potter! The comments you make about the clay complaining how it has been formed, or to what use it will serve do illustrate the folly of people faulting God for their situation. The same porcelain clay can be made into tea cups or chamber pots! The potter decides the use and the form of each vessel. Thank you for teaching the Bible by comparing scripture with scripture. Dear Sir: There is no individual preacher in Christendom whom I would rather be a disciple of than yourself; I listen to your sermons night & day. BUT recently everytime I go to a sermon by you on "Election" & expect to get a real blessing, the sermon is ruined when you interject all the Armenian or Pelegian "ministers", those followers of apostate Charles Finney, likr Tim Lahaye, who reject the full truth of the Gospel & will not allow their own works to be put aside in the work of salvation in favor of 100% God's monergistic work in the work of salvation. AND I have tried my best to avoid anything these people say that might distort the purity of the Gospel in my heart. Thank you so much for your great work(s) in a difficult area & world.

You sound like what is called an Arminian , God can only save us if we let Him , its part His work and part GODS WORK, or indeed God looked down through time and saw those who would believe so He chose them , that's making them God , this is heresy , there Is Nothing you can add to what God has done for his people , and if you believe that it just means you have not been taught Jesus Christ aright !.

Yup the thought saddens me greatly, I have people I work with who I have invite to church 3 or more times a year because they claim to be a christian but won't make the effort to come to church.
To understand Election and Salvation we observe 2 levels of understanding, one is from God’s level where He takes complete glory in electing and saving a person. That’s Calvinism But there is human level of understanding where man says I was a sinner, repented and Believed in Christ, received salvation by grace. Both can be reconciled because of the truths that God is to be glorified always and man should be admitted that he is sinner and needs the savior Jesus Christ
Repentance is also a gift from God , we as a people were All born dead in trespasses and sins , we inherited this state from Adam , for when He fell in the garden , we all inherited his FALLEN NATURE , sin is what we all did until Almighty God by His Holy Spirit called us into His Kingdom at our appointed time , then we were given the Gift of Faith and repentance , every good that we now have is given to us by the grace of God . Hallelujah ! .
That's not Calvinism as you call it , but of Scripture and of God , if a person genuinely repents and turns away from his sins it means he is one of those who were chosen by Almighty God and Father in Jesus Christ before the world was made , for even our Faith is a gift from God which He gives to His Elect !.

Referring to good works after our salvation, believers bearing fruit and not good works unto salvation because we cannot earn salvation by our own good works. Eph 2:8-10

I have the entire series on CD titled Doctrines of Grace".. in the last CD regarding election john goes into detail about the Father loving the Son in such great infinitely He Chose to display this immeasurable love in predeterming a love gift for His Son.. which turns out is a people who choose to love the Son with His help.. all this culminating in 1 Corithians 15 where Christ wraps this gift (us) and presents it back to the Father completing the "All Glorifing" of the Trinity in a highest Spirit of Love.. quite humbling that we become a love gift not because we are valuable but because the Son is valuable beyond measure.. we become valuable not in who we are but because what we are.. the Son values the gift because it's been given to Him by His PAPA.. very glorious my friend
He God the Father did it out of His free undeserved Love, mercy and Grace to undeserving sinners like myself who without were facing an Eternity in Hells Fires !. But we are saved by Grace Alone , through Faith Alone ,In Jesus Christ Alone , and All to the Glory of God Alone ! .

I agree with this sermon as superb. But John Macarthur contradicts himself when he says that the vessels of wrath prepared themselves for destruction. Of course God chose who goes to Heaven, and the flip side is God consciously chose not to have mercy on the others, in essence, choosing them for hell. God made the wicked!!!
With all respect. Adam chose the falling not God. God forkew. It all comes down how you think of God and if His doctrine goes against of your pro marketing world. If what Mr. MacArthur teaches about election and predestination is right, then there seems to be no need for a Savior, for those who will be saved have already been determined making our salvation by election and not faith. So let me provide the Scriptural definition of election and predestination. The Scriptures tell us that the “elect” are known to the Father as “Israel”, and the Father has “predestined” all of Israel to be saved. In Paul’s letter to the Romans, chapter 11, he outlines how we are either cut off from Israel or grafted into Israel, which is by FAITH, not election. Your Salvation was made possible by the beautiful free gift of the Holy Spirit who did an amazing work on your heart allowing you to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You were Justified. You are being Sanctified. You will one day meet your bridegroom, our precious Jesus and be Glorified. God’s plan will be fulfilled. This is a hard doctrine to get away from....but pray for discernment. The human will can do all things ( not on our own) BUT through Christ Jesus who strengthens or enables us. So we are able because of Christ. God gave his only begotten Son ,so that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish (WHOSOEVER) not some. This doesn't fit God's character.. ..I too battled with this and was 100% in agreement because of scriptures only to understand that they retain to God's predestined overall plan of a world, a people made in His Image, and a predestined plan for a people to be united to Him in a also predestined new heaven and new earth. Being bought up to believe that salvation is by faith alone, this really is confusing! Back in the garden ,Adam and Eve were given a choice to obey or not. We all inherited this sin nature. I have always been taught how Jesus came to give us a "way out". Only the Holy Spirit can enlighten the person to his sinfulness, then the person must choose to repent or not! I fully understand that mankind (in his blindness) does not have the ability even know about his sinfulness! Well I have listened opened mindedly to three of JOhns messages on this and am waiting for the 4th. Bottom line..........If were already selected or not, of which I understand.......whats the use? What you have just described is mere RELIGION. They too have to wait till they die before they can discover whether they're real believers or not. I must have been one of the elect, for I ran from him, I refused to believe his word, and I was ok as long as I decided what was right, according to what seemed right for me. Well God had other plans, He made so many things happen in my life, and finely put me in a place where there was but one book to read, and for 3yrs I read that Bible and I prayed hard every day that he would save me, and He did just that, Im not the man I was 11yrs ago, He changed my heart and I thank him every day. Unfortunately, MacArthur is biblically incorrect when he teaches that God arbitrarily chooses, before the foundation of the world, that you should go to heaven, and your neighbor is "predestined" to hell, and there is NOTHING he can do about it. This is what MacArthur, Sproul, Washer, Lawson, and others of reformed theology teach. And the Word of God does NOT teach this.
Also read Romans 8 : 28 _ 39 . They can’t stop at 3:16. They have to continue reading on to 17 and 18. For Christ didn’t come into the world to condemn the world but save the world. He that believes in him is not condemned, but he would doesn’t trust in the Lord is condemned already.

In Romans 8:28-30 Paul is discussing the forefathers, who loved God, as an example of hope for the church in Rome. As Paul encourages the church, he uses men like Abraham as an example, for the hope that we have. I believe this to be a reiteration of statements he made in Romans 4.
There’s no reason not to think that the foreknew in Romans 8, is of the same class of people as the foreknew in Romans 11........
Rom 8:29 For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
Rom 11:1 I say then, Hath God cast away his people? God forbid. For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, of the tribe of Benjamin.
2 God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew.......
Amos 3:1 Hear this word that the LORD hath spoken against you, O children of Israel, against the whole family which I brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,
2 You only have I known of all the families of the earth: therefore I will punish you for all your iniquities.
First let's look at the flow of thought which leads up to this passage.
vv1-16. We must walk in the Spirit. The Spirit confirms that we are children of God.
vv17-19. If we suffer with Christ, we will also be glorified with Him.
vv20-23. The entire creation is groaning, and in bondage from the fall, waiting for that day of redemption
vv24-25. But our great hope is that we will be glorified with Him.
vv26-27. The Spirit also helps us through this troublesome time.
vv28. And we know (an appeal to their knowledge of the scriptures) that all things work together for good to them that love God. To them who are the called according to His purpose.
vv29. Those whom He knew from before, He also purposed to receive a glorified body.
vv30. And whom He predestinated, he also called. (Abraham called….)
Gen 12:1 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
vv30. Whom He called, He also justified. (Abraham justified….)
Rom 4:3. For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
vv30. Whom He justified, He also glorified. (Abraham glorified…)
Gen 23:6 Hear us, my lord: thou art a mighty prince among us: in the choice of our sepulchres bury thy dead; none of us shall withhold from thee his sepulchre, but that thou mayest bury thy dead.
Gen 24:35 And the LORD hath blessed my master greatly; and he is become great: and he hath given him flocks, and herds, and silver, and gold, and menservants, and maidservants, and camels, and asses.
Being glorified in this way, is also part of our hope……
Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.
Jer 30:19 And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
Rom 5: 8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
Also compare these verses (31-33) with what Paul stated in Romans 4 (Abraham)…..
Rom 4:22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? (Again see Rom 5:8-10)

I absolutely believe in the doctrine of Predestination and Election. If we survey the whole bible critically, the scripture speaks about it clearly from Genesis to Revelation. That is the Truth, whether we like it or not. If Christ is in us, we ceased sinning. As human being sin is always near them, but they can be aware of it. A christian can be quick to repent. Those Elect are the Bride of Christ. Christ will come for them. Because if it is not so, Christ has nothing to come for.
Ok? Have you notice that not once has JM ever spoken about the gospel of Mark? The Gospel of Mark, rightly divides Predestination and Election. Your inability to understand scripture latches on to a secure; fire insurance, gospel. God predestined those who would believe. Period. Mark 1:15, "...the time is fulfilled, and the Kingdom of God is at hand, REPENT and believe the in the Gospel. Mark 9:23 "...if you can believe all things are possible." Joel 2:28, "And it shall come to pass afterward, THAT I SHALL POUR OUT MY SPIRIT ON ALL FLESH, your sons and daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions." God is Righteousness Personified. God predestined those who would believe. We are saved by Grace, it’s a gift from God not of ourselves. My understanding of predestination is Gods for knowledge of who will accept His gift of Salvation. I’d like to think I’m special that the Lord God of the Universe chose me before the foundation of the world but I’m just not that special. I’m a sinner in need of a Savior. I heard God call me loud and strong. He persued me and my heart and how could I resist His call? He’s the most Loving Amazing forgiving Graceful God! Who am I that i would be chosen? I am no one actually the least of my family and have been rejected by them.

Dear Sir: There is no individual preacher in Christendom whom I would rather be a disciple of than yourself; I listen to your sermons night & day. BUT recently everytime I go to a sermon by you on "Election" & expect to get a real blessing, the sermon is ruined when you interject all the Armenian or Pelegian "ministers", those followers of apostate Charles Finney, likr Tim Lahaye, who reject the full truth of the Gospel & will not allow their own works to be put aside in the work of salvation in favor of 100% God's monergistic work in the work of salvation. AND I have tried my best to avoid anything these people say that might distort the purity of the Gospel in my heart. Thank you so much for your great work(s) in a difficult area & world.

To understand Election and Salvation we observe 2 levels of understanding, one is from God’s level where He takes complete glory in electing and saving a person. That’s Calvinism
But there is human level of understanding where man says I was a sinner, repented and Believed in Christ, received salvation by grace.
Both can be reconciled because of the truths that God is to be glorified always and man should be admitted that he is sinner and needs the savior Jesus Christ
Repentance is also a gift from God , we as a people were All born dead in trespasses and sins , we inherited this state from Adam , for when He fell in the garden , we all inherited his FALLEN NATURE , sin is what we all did until Almighty God by His Holy Spirit called us into His Kingdom at our appointed time , then we were given the Gift of Faith and repentance , every good that we now have is given to us by the grace of God . Hallelujah ! .
That's not Calvinism as you call it , but of Scripture and of God , if a person genuinely repents and turns away from his sins it means he is one of those who were chosen by Almighty God and Father in Jesus Christ before the world was made , for even our Faith is a gift from God which He gives to His Elect !.

I have the entire series on CD titled Doctrines of Grace".. in the last CD regarding election john goes into detail about the Father loving the Son in such great infinitely He Chose to display this immeasurable love in predeterming a love gift for His Son.. which turns out is a people who choose to love the Son with His help.. all this culminating in 1 Corithians 15 where Christ wraps this gift (us) and presents it back to the Father completing the "All Glorifing" of the Trinity in a highest Spirit of Love.. quite humbling that we become a love gift not because we are valuable but because the Son is valuable beyond measure.. we become valuable not in who we are but because what we are.. the Son values the gift because it's been given to Him by His PAPA.. very glorious my friend

I agree with this sermon as superb. But John Macarthur contradicts himself when he says that the vessels of wrath prepared themselves for destruction. Of course God chose who goes to Heaven, and the flip side is God consciously chose not to have mercy on the others, in essence, choosing them for hell. God made the wicked!!!

If what Mr. MacArthur teaches about election and predestination is right, then there seems to be no need for a Savior, for those who will be saved have already been determined making our salvation by election and not faith. So let me provide the Scriptural definition of election and predestination. The Scriptures tell us that the “elect” are known to the Father as “Israel”, and the Father has “predestined” all of Israel to be saved. In Paul’s letter to the Romans, chapter 11, he outlines how we are either cut off from Israel or grafted into Israel, which is by FAITH, not election. He confirms this in his letter to the Ephesians where he says: “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Ephesians 2:8-10
Ephesians 1:4 We are chosen IN CHRIST! Without Christ there would be no need of being chosen..we are sinful born in sin meaning if we are chosen then we are going to be cleaned by Christ in order for us to be presented clean and blameless. We as believers as The Church we were PREDESTINED, CALLED, PREDETERMINED by God before the beginning of time, before creation, before you were ever created. Why? As a love gift to His Son. Christ accomplishes this by The Cross. You were chosen for Salvation. Your Salvation was made possible by the beautiful free gift of the Holy Spirit who did an amazing work on your heart allowing you to believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ. You were Justified. Being bought up to believe that salvation is by faith alone, this really is confusing! Back in the garden ,Adam and Eve were given a choice to obey or not. We all inherited this sin nature. I have always been taught how Jesus came to give us a "way out". Only the Holy Spirit can enlighten the person to his sinfulness, then the person must choose to repent or not! I fully understand that mankind (in his blindness) does not have the ability even know about his sinfulness! Well I have listened opened mindedly to three of JOhns messages on this and am waiting for the 4th. Bottom line..........If were already selected or not, of which I understand.......whats the use? I am either in or I am out. Seems to me there is so much scripture about the longsuffering and loving of God that must be left out............we all know the verses about "how its not His will that any should perish"?

So strange. How do you know you're the elect? Anything is open to a strange interpretation. Perhaps God is using mr. MacArthur to bring the elect but he's not among them. Since there is no thing as faith through grace there is no way someone can be sure. Good luck with that one.
Then what you are saying is that God does not know. God can look at the end and see who believed and by that foreknowledge knows who will choose Him before they even exist. It all comes down whether you believe in a powerful all knowing God or your church who's marketing system cant allow the biblical fact to be accepted.

God does not give faith. He gives eternal life to them that believe it one time. Acts 16:31. Faith is not a work. Romans 4:5. First John 2:2.
