Im excited to see the next console, if Microsoft brings a hybrid hardware/cloud processing console as it was leaked, integrate all Microsofts AI/Azure power into gaming and development, they could shake the industry a second time, Game Pass would be just the first wave. A hybrid console could reach CPU/GPU processing power never seen before in console gaming

The people making AI have no clue how to handle AI nor do they know how it works which might be the scariest thought out there. They have no understanding of it yet they continue to go full sail with it. I’m all for using AI but only after we know how it works , how to handle it and how to shut it down if we need to

Honestly, I like the idea of AI NPCs. Could this create a new job/role for people to direct AIs from breaking character or the 4th wall?
Probably about 6-10 years.
Agree with Matt Booty, AI could be a good tool to assist in game testing by creating thousands of game instances to look for bugs/glitches.
AI could be also used to assist with an NPC voice-actor's dialog, but AI generated voices still sounds too artificial (no pun intended).

What people don't understand is that, eventually, AI can become powerful enough to allow for single person development with no experience in programming, artistry, or animation being necessary to do it. Everyone with an idea can be part of this, and potentially get paid by selling the game that AI built from their idea. This is literally becoming the next step of content creation, and I'm looking forward to such an evolution.
You're literally saying people without talent, skill or any hard work can use AI to make something.
Good luck getting people to embrace this content. There will be a backlash. In fact there already is. No one wants lazy products created by an AI script.

@@ashdang23 Nothing. But that person needs to do all the work to better themselves, aka learn how to be a decent 3d artist. If someone lets AI do the heavy lifting, they're not going to fulfil their own potential.

@@cartermoth6447 It's been the dream of engineers to allow full creations using basic English for decades now. AI may be the frontier that finally allows it to happen.
How about this: use AI to find bugs that break things, which is tedious and something computers are good at, leaving humans to test feel and fun. things a person is good at.
I'm pretty sure around 95% of the gamers have a huge backlog catalog of games they haven't even played yet or that they haven't finished. Who has time for so many games, especially when there's games as a service like Halo and Destiny that keep constantly evolving?
All I want to do is be able to talk to characters in fallout 4 about anything anytime without a preselected dialogue. I hope they update old games this way

Why are we not using all this stunning computing power to cure stuff like cancer instead of wasting it on video games?
I guaranty that if they can get games finished faster with AI then they will start making more games because they will make more money with each release. If they are making more games than they will need more humans to help with the systems that AI can't do. even though some jobs will go away others will grow.

If AI will reduce the development of AAA from 5-6 years to 3-4 or less, then heck yeah! Why would we NOT want that? It provides more sustainability for game development, thus ensuring those teams aren’t crunching and aren’t costing more money for games.

Triple A games on average on taken 4 to 5 years to get out & its only going to take longer the more advanced games become & people don't want to wait 7 8 years for every triple A.

The only thing I'm interested in with Ai is NPC/bots interaction, AI generated graphics not that interesting and I think it will look and feel like the procedurally generated ones! Relaying on servers for a solo game is the worst idea no matter the concept and efficiency!

As an Xbox gamer, I absolutely hate the idea of cloud & AI being used to cut corners & reduce costs (by making someone's fibre optics internet do the heavy lifting, basically).
AI is going to fall flat on its face. Nothing substitutes real skilled humans doing hand crafted art, nothing.
I want AI to create custom game master quests in games like starfield and to to have AI service to keep old games remastered to the current standards. Seems crazy to think of it but I think its a future of AI in gaming to perform auto patches auto remasters voice acting and game master/procedural generation

A lot of people are worried that AI is going to take jobs. The truth is yes it will but it will also create new jobs. Think about how we used to develop photos. Not many people know how to develop photos from film anymore. Those jobs were lost but think about all the jobs that were created with the digital medium. AI is the same and just another medium to paint in. It will help create AAA games at a faster rate as game development becomes more and more complex.
Sony have been slow to invest in cloud and online services and yes that's worked for them to a point. The issue now is that attitude is now leaving them in the past.
Once Microsoft nail this tech along with the enormous amount of studios they own they're going to revolutionise gaming over the next decade.
Just think about games like Starfield where each player can choose their own path and how they play the game and how ai will take that to new levels. It'll also be able to make no NPC look the same ever again and be used to create planets completely custom to each player. And that's just the tip of the iceberg.
Microsoft went from Software to hardware development huh.
If this is the direction where Microsoft is going then Nvidia will observe this new move very closely.
Perhaps this was needed eventually to get all these GPU makers of their lazy rock for once.
But regarding AI adoption in video games, this is HUGE!.
If Xbox becomes the first company with AI learning tools in a video game, then that's a huge win for them as Nintendo and Sony may have to catch up on this new technology.

AI is awesome, but i think limitations need to be jumped on quickly in terms of workforce. Corporate heads sometimes are pretty stupid, and would literally fire their human wprkforce for AI, forgetting that AI needs a template of human creativity to build off of.

I really want Microsoft to fucking release a 4tb expansion card 1tb only stores 10 triple A titles max and I'm tired of uninstalling and reinstalling games if I decide to play them I'm not even concerned about future games I've so many rn to catch up on still lmao and constantly hearing about something many more.
Ai is dangerous for those players who are susceptible to influence. Like the guy who killed those people because he thought he was living in dungeons and dragons.

Certain people will lose their jobs, most game testers (but probably not all), and a lot of specific jobs won’t be needed anymore. But they’ll end up expanding other departments and opening new jobs to expand on new things they couldn’t do before. I think AI is scary for a lot of reasons, but if they do it right, after the rebalance of jobs and layoffs, it will hopefully sort itself out and games will be better than ever.

There will be pros and cons, as with all things. I think AI can be great partners for work and entertainment, as long as they are treated in balance.
My fear is that corpo will end up abusing and monetizing them, like corporate seems to do with everything.
AI should be treated and utilized with respect. And then, it will be a respectable product.
When the light filament was invented, many whalers who specialized in whale oil lanterns were rightfully peeved. A whole lifetime learning how to whale-fish and sail rendered basically useless. The ones who made it were the ones that learned new skills. Nowadays, we don't really have whalers or oil-based lanterns anymore; but the lightbulb still exists. For now.

There risks to driving cars, but everyone wants one. Risks to any tool by the user who uses it. We should be careful with how it's used and what it's used for so jobs aren't just lost, but enhanced.
I hope the final product doesn't have the characters that you would interact with sounding so robotic. That would be like playing a game with Siri or Alexa for hours on end, it would get boring, lol.

I only care that it pushes gaming past its limits. For instance, if AI could feel out more of the world's in Starfield to the point that I could spend days exploring every nook and cranny then AI would've changed the world to me.
Yeah... Use it to correct your mistakes and see what you can do better, instead of using it as a medium to be better, when it is not a companion and just a tool, it will make us a tool for it, they've been using advanced A.I. for years thats how they have been testing doomsday scenarios and figuring out based on where we are... Where this will potentially go. They call it a logic A.I. but we are really a lot more than logical beings.

AI ain't happening on Series X gen maybe next gen I distinctly remember Microsoft saying Titanfalls NPCs and other computing would use Cloud AI to enhance Xbox One and even now chat gpt is still ruff around the edges. What they should do is use it to optimize game code to make them run smoother on current gen consoles since most games shipping now are half baked beta tests with a $70 price tag.

In the end if the industry has a huge crash because of skyrocketing development costs, more jobs will be lost than the ones lost to AI in a healthy games industry. The current business model is not sustainable. AI will eventually become the norm in game development one way or the other.

The hand-painted digital concept art was way better than the AI generated ones. If you can't see that then you're design-blind, visually illiterate, and/or have bad taste.
Some people are vastly overestimating AI & also consumer tastes as well.
Take Skyrim for example: when I go dungeon crawling, there's the human factor underlying the experience, i.e. someone actually hand crafted the cave or Dwemer ruin.
If this is achieved procedurally by an AI script, it becomes meaningless. People won't like automated art.
It won't matter to directors to get development started.

AI 😂 = Gimmick
i hope AI is created as a tool for artists and programmers and not entirely replacing them. Human creativity will always be superior. AI is just learning through wide pool of already created pieces of art that is first and foremost imagined by a real person. I am all in for AI easing off overwhelming and tiring tasks.

MS already ahead of the game with Azure Cloud compute and how Flight Sim works. I'm hoping this new A.I tech will alllow them to build their own future GTA game using the topography from flight and sim and 100% destructible environments. You could also use Forza tech for the car models and drive in between cities. Imagine destroying a building and the A.I. NPC's come in and clean off the destruction area and start to rebuild? Hell just the liveliness of such a game would blow the old GTA out the water.
AI could be assigned the more tedious time consuming tasks that could help speed up the development.
Mel scripts in Maya & 3ds max have done this for decades. Repetitive tasks in production cycles use AI scripts. This isn't 'new'.
AI is coming. If used correctly, games will be awesome. On the other hand, the games could be soulless trash.
