Glad to hear Charles mentioning Wits Freshwater Anglers. That's where I learnt to fish as well. My mentors were Mark Amdur and his late Dad Uncle Porky who were both Springbok anglers. Other Bok anglers in Wits were Uncle Jan and Quinton Van de Heever, the late Sydney Rall and Uncle Brian Untiedt as well as Eddie Rusch. My 1st year at Wits I was in the B league team where you had to earn your stripes before I was promoted the following year to the A side. Other team members in our A team were the 7 Boks mentioned above as well as myself, Mike Williams, Tyrone Pypers, Eddie Newman, Mike Pafkovich, Leon Louw and late Uncle Alec Boyter. Our manager was late Gordon Goodman and our manager was the late great Uncle Len Williams, commonly known as Oupa. What a great character he was. In later years other Boks like late Lawrence Barnard and my current Masters team mate Casper Labuschagne were also part of the Wits A league team. We were the first club back in the day to win both the STvl Saturday and Sunday league finals and then compete against each other in the league final. Our greatest opposition was Eland Angling Club who also had great Bok Anglers like late Oom Hennie Ferreria, late Johan Keet and Oom Willie Zevenster as well as great anglers like late Lanie Lategan, Barry Van Niekerk, Oom Nols van Wyk and Oom Nick van Zyl to name a few. Those were the good old days. Also nice that Charles mentioned Cuzzie pap. That was commonly referred to as "Karp se poeding". I still use it today. Another great dip from the old days no longer available was Lennons Rooi Lavental. I still have it in my box. Keep up the great work with the podcast Sakkie and Barry. It's great to watch the new episode every week. Be blessed. Kind regards Peter Botha

Absolutely get Charles to do a casting demo. He has one of the best casting actions I have ever seen.

Stupid question but how do you see the baber feeding at a distance of let's say 80m? What do you look out for?

I had the grice and young . Golden eagles without the casting pin. One handed casts. That's where it could be a bit more difficult for the younger generation.
