I don't know for sure and you will need to ask YC Onion. Still, I suspect that the monopod is considered a more professional tool (it does work very well and this will be covered in our upcoming review) while the travel tripod is more of an entry-level innovative light unit.
great idea, esp. for LF monorail users, quick to setup and level, and to put on the rail clamp, as the QR is just a snap. what YC onion should do is make a lf kit, using BOTH tripod and monopod, for macro shooting {as the rail is quite long, and on the sinars for eg. you need two rail clamps to support it, esp. with a big tele lens}, or one for std lens on mirrorless/s.l.r., and the monopod for long lenses.
why is the Monopod expensive than the tripod? are they paying patent right or just price gouging?
