    it's not alex's tone tht is thin. it's just non processed with the mids slighly scooped for that metal sound. this is kinda like how anyone would sound with high end gear just jamming around and a camera on it.

    that tone of Alex's can't even go near the one in the Savatage era

    • @Bricklinsv1970
      @Bricklinsv1970 8 лет назад +2

      +emrebozkurt800 Um Alex was in Savatage a album called Handful of rain and he actually used one of the former members guitars so your comment is kinda wrong. This tone doesn't speak for Alex really. Also tone has nothing to do with skill. And with that i cant think of anyone that has more skill than Alex. Alex can play anything and its pretty well documented.

    It's time people recognize Testament, and add them into a Big Five instead of Big Four! I mean I like Slayer, Megadeth and all, and it's tough to compare music, but technically Testament is equal if not superior to the Big Four.

    • @supergotenks6543
      @supergotenks6543 8 лет назад +1

      Technically better than Metallica at least..

      Ever heard of Believer?
      Call them technical - progressive - thrash ..
      The lead guitar / singer ..
      His day job is that of a geneticist with a Ph.D ..
      They are attempting to finish their latest studio album ..
      The drummer is a pro cyclist ..

      Junior Morales Testament are technically much, much better than Slayer too.

    • @rickleblanc8900

      Was probably recorded quickly just to get it out there so the world could see and hear how it was done. Besides that, nothing to criticize really. Give it a rest, people. Everyone else can do a perfectly better job , right? Geez....

    • @PeterVenkman_666
      @PeterVenkman_666 4 года назад

      A Metallica fan complaining about the tone...you should better compare this geniality with the piece of shit called doodle that Trujillo and Kirk pull in every show

  • @SefniAsheforr

    The bass was great, but the guitar solo would have sounded way better with a ryrhm guitar behind it.

    • @rickleblanc8900
      @rickleblanc8900 6 лет назад +2

      Well , as a one- off performance done a capella, nothing wrong there. U want the whole deal? Listen to the cd. It's brilliant

  • @TDAshton
    @TDAshton 9 лет назад +2

    Normally Skolnick's tone is really great but here not so good. I think maybe too much bass on the guitar amp. Really taking up a lot of the bass's frequency.

    • @rickleblanc8900
      @rickleblanc8900 6 лет назад

      Yes a brighter tone would've been better but i blame whoever did the video recording. Shoulda known better.

    Decent enough song, but dear god, that solo was painful....

    • @Traconiz
      @Traconiz 9 лет назад +2

      +Manuel Perez i think the problem is that either we would need the drum track to time the solo right, or the guitar enters off time to the solo part, then catches up.

    • @DirkJV

      +Manuel Perez Can't wait to hear your take on it, I am sure your solo is going to be the thing of magic!

      Not so with bluegrass my friend, not with bluegrass..Some of the best guitarists around play for Bluegrass and Rockabilly bands...
      Not to take anything away from metal. _(Grew up/still play it myself)_ But Bluegrass is much more demanding, as far as chords goes.

    • @Bricklinsv1970
      @Bricklinsv1970 8 лет назад +3

      +Manuel Perez Painful seriously. That solo was crazy! It was awesome! You must not understand guitar solos much.

      .... He's also palm muting, and down picking which makes it sound more aggressive... Do either of those with your fingers and I'll be impressed...

      @callofmayhem717 9 лет назад +1

      +Dolo it takes way more skill to play with your fingers intead of a pick.

    • @filip100000
      @filip100000 9 лет назад +1

      I don't care how he plays it. He could be doing it with a violin bow and so what? It about how it sounds not how it looks.

    I expected a little better solo coming from skolnick I'm not knocking it but it seemed like their was a solo there just to be a solo it was in key just not very melodic 🙁
