Since MANAEA changed the way he delivers the pitch, he has been more succesful. Reminds me of the way SID FERNANDEZ used to deliver his pitches. The only problem is that the starting pitchers that can be counted on so far are MANAEA, PETERSON and SEVERINO. It's pretty hard to count on JOSE QUINTANA thr way he has been pitching. So after the first rhree, MENDOZA will have to toss up a coin to see what hapoens.
You are Spot On!! Manaea has proven to be Money in The Bank . At first I was not too excited about getting him, but so glas he has proven me Wrong. Now we need another 2 Consistent Starters.
I don’t like to look far ahead of a series.. but the Mets have a tough one and if…if they were on the verge of sweeping the Padres we have Quintana to look forward to on the final game.. lol
Manea said something all the bullpen should listen too.....he said his success was due to being able to throw all his pitches for strikes. Thats something they either haven't been able to do or something they've been afraid to do..... and if they're afraid to throw strikes then they should ask for a demotion because thats a loser's mindset.
That, that Winker said where he said that he was actually really thinking about getting to 1st base. I hope that is the mentality that the entire lineup always has and keeps. NEVER....try or even think of trying to hit a homerun. Have and keep the mentality to make each pitcher work hard to try to get you out everytime. Always have and keep the mentality that you are going to work that count every time with the sense that you are not going to give up your atbat easily. You are not going to ever be an easy out. If they're going to get you out it is not going to ever be easy for them to do so. Be the finest hitter you have the potential to be each time. That there was the real Winker. If that man just settled in with being who and what he is for the Mets now, it's going to be special. What a move by the brother Stearns. I don't remember the last time I saw a move made like that. There is this player who is a Met killer on this other team. And the METS GM says to that player " Hey man you are killing us, we want you with us on our side" And then make it happen. Facing right handed pitching when the Mets can put these 3 lefties in the same lineup "Nimmo, Winker and McNeil" along with the switch hitting phenom Lindor, that is such a luxury for them to have now. If this entire lineup with Marte now back in the picture fully healthy, can have and keep the same mentally when they come up to bat, they can be the best lineup in all of baseball. The 1 thing I would tell them to start taking alot more serious, is to start making extra sure that none of them get struck out looking. I would preach it hard to them, when you know you have 2 strikes on you, become more of a hawk with your eye at the plate and make sure no pitch that you know you can make contact with crosses the zone and touches the catchers mitt without you letting it meet your bat instead of taking it. Let the homeruns find you instead of you even thinking of looking for them at all. Let it be like that like what Winker said and did. You're trying to get to 1st base and when he swung, that was fine timing and fine hitting ability to make contact right where the pitch was pitched. And even more fine hitting when you are going out of the zone to make quality contact like that. The entire lineup has that potential. When you are pressing even a tad bit you will be somewhat in between yourself. Your bat won't be a light bat but a heavy one and you will be vulnerable to swing at pitches that break off of the zone. You won't have the calmness to wait long enough to let those slower breaking pitches fall on your bat and instead you will swing over them making the pitchers look good. But the Mets are fighting for real and I wouldn't be surprised if they start sweeping some series. I wouldn't be surprised if they sweep the Padres. It just has to be a team effort altogether to keep the right mentality and do all of the right things. Do all of the little things and big things can occur. Don't try to be big or do big things. Let those things find you as you're doing the little things. Concerning the bullpen. This Mets bullpen is so much more better than what it's been. I'm looking forward to seeing what it can really do. Huascar and Garrett and Stanek. Those guys have to trust their fastball. They have to throw that thing. Those are shut down pitchers. If they can pitch how I believe they can, and now with Nuñez about to be added into that mix, they are poised to have an elite bullpen. All those guys can throw 96-97-98 and above. They HAVE to use that weapon with more conviction instead of coming out of the pen to try and make hitters fish for their breaking stuff. No, blow them away with the fastball. Make them defensive trying to catch up to the fastball. Use that. And then mix in your breaking stuff but keep popping that heater. Throw the heater to all parts of the zone. Break bat's and jam hitters or blow it past them. Behave like closers not finesse pitchers. Be fearless. Completely fearless while being more intelligent than the hitters you face. You are coming to close out an inning not to play around. Quickly hitters need to fall 0-2 when you start dealing with them. Get them quickly in a hole. Then you can blow them away or use your other pitches. But be ready to go immediately right to your fastball and throw it where you know they won't be able to really hit it for a hit. Make them foul it or miss it. You have that kind of stuff. Use it. If any of these guys come out of the pen for 1 inning, no other guys should be called upon to rescue them or save them. These are guys that individually should come out of that pen and all get the job done completely. Mendoza shouldn't have to weigh extra heavily on Butto for example in close games. I'm not expecting what I've been seeing from Garrett and Huascar to continue to happen. They have to be fearless like true hard nosed devious closers. When I say fearless I mean, with their fastball. Because they throw really hard. If Manea to use him as an example can blow his fastball passed hitters not throwing 97-98 or more, then these guys in the pen like Garrett and Huascar and Stanek should do this with even more ease. They should have that mentality. Here's my fastball. Hit it if you can good luck. Concerning Quintana, if they are going to give him another start then he needs to bounce back or he has to go. I already want him replaced to be honest. It is what is. This is not the time in my opinion to be waiting to see whether or not a pitcher is going to be good. If you know you can bring in someone else who has the potential to solidify that spot in the rotation you have to make the move. If Senga was here and it was a 5 man rotation just who do you think I would want out. Not Blackburn. Quintana. And stay with the 2 southpaws who are really showing that they can pitch winning baseball with needed consistency. Now Quintana is giving up homeruns when he was someone who was hardly giving them up. That is a huge digression and not more of an evolvement to get better than before. I'm looking forward to seeing Nuñez back and also Scott. If Quintana was truly consistent the Mets could have swept this series. Both Peterson and Manea are serving the team as stoppers. I don't get that sense from Quintana. Severino as well is one of the evolving pitchers of that staff. And I feel good when Blackburn is going to start. He is a very good for being the number 5. In most cases he's going to keep the team in a position to win. When Nuñez and Scott are back, I would be happy to see Ottavino and Quintana out. I wish them the best. Let's go Mets. Take it to the Padres.
Instead of waiting to see if Quintana, who has already caused the team enough turmoil, is going to pitch good in his next start, bounce back and then wait and see if he's going to remain consistent , Id rather give that opportunity to Scott who I think is bound to be the next pitcher to evolve. This is what I meant when I said I don't think it's time to be waiting to see if a pitcher is going to be good and become consistent now at this point in the season. If Quintana was injured and he came back now, then I would say, let's see what he has. But we have seen what he has done. If Scott becomes consistent then that is a pitcher who has lights out stuff. Almost ace like stuff. While with Quintana you have to watch him try to get hitters to fish and ground out or fly out. You have to hope that he has good stuff on a given day and you're kind of holding your breath that he doesn't get smashed up. I don't feel that way with the other 4 pitchers. If after Quintanas last start I would've seen reports that he was removed and Scott was called back up honestly I tell you I would have been excited about it. I don't mind seeing Quintana leave. Not at all. He toasted the faith I had in him with that last start at this point of the season. You can't have a really good start and then have a super awful one. The Mets need to have starters in their rotation who when they don't have their best game, can still keep the team in the game with consistency. Consistently they need to either play the role of stopper, or keep their team in the game whenever they can't totally play that role. If they are going to get on a winning streak now and get their first sweep, they have to have all of these things in check. They can do it. LGM
i love the fact that this dude is part of mets now.
We love Jesse Winker!!!
Im so glad he's not the enemy again he is on our side great job Jessie
I was wondering when & if Winker was going to get a "big hit" for his new team and OMG - what a time for his Mets home run!!! WOW
He spokes about being injured at other clubs and hoped being injury free he would finally get to show what he was about, and man is he showing
Humility I like the way he talks about his teammates
Get This Man Preferred Seating on Plane to SD this evening...!!!

Losing senga was a big hit. He would have been a crutch

Maybe Mendoza needs to push back Quintana a day maybe 6 man rotation and bring up that that stud pitching prospect (forgot his name) to spot start..

Oh crap , I turned the game off....I thought they were going to lose. Did he do the Winker Wave to the cheering crowd as he circled the bases?
Some fan.... Ya Gotta Believe
@@MJ-dq8ik bro....c'mon....you turned it off too.....admit it
@@madwax1360 No of course I didn't. Ive been a loyal fan since 1967 and I never turn off the game.
@@MJ-dq8ik ok....now you're lying. At least I'm honest. Don't be surprised if your nose starts growing
They weren’t even losing why would you turn it off? It was a great game all the way through
