Taxis In China are one of the best places to learn Chinese, the drivers are always willing to talk and they often ask the same questions so you get a lot of practice. Nice video
Sobering. Life's hard for so many people. Thanks for bringing this video to us. I learned my own mother tongue and learned that so many people are just like us, with hopes & dreams & longings for the people whom they love in their own lives.
Enjoyed the video from an educational and cultural perspective. I really felt for him and his situation. He seems like a really sweet, hardworking guy. I hope he’s now in a better financial state doing something he enjoys closer to home where he can see his children and family on a regular basis.
Not here to learn chinese, rather I enjoy travelling, meeting people from other cultures, learning about other cultures, history. This channel is like a virtual tourism for me.
This is such a great resource, please do more of these with lots of different people, it really gives learners a good idea of how to interact in china with workers and service people to create small talk of light conversation
*TOO FAST?* Control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time on desktop computers and laptops OR 25% at a time on smartphone! *Access the playback speed controls as follows:* *Desktop Computers and Laptops:* open the video, then go to the *lower right of the video's screen* and click on the *settings* icon (it looks like a GEAR). On the upper right of the options window that comes up, you will see the link "custom". Click on the "custom" link to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 5% at a time. *Smartphones:* open the video and go to the *upper right of the video's screen.* You will see *3 dots.* Click on them and you will see the link to open the "playback speed" controls. Click on this link and you will be able to control the video's playback speed by speeding up or slowing down the video 25% at a time. Note that viewing the video on desktop computer/laptops gives you greater control over the playback speed (5% vs 25% on smartphones). *Mandarin Corner*
Very interesting video. Unfortunately, after more than 3 years of learning Chinese at home, 2 hours per day, I couldn't understand almost anything what the taxi driver was saying. His accent is so strong and he speaks so fast! But fortunately, there are subtitles and that helped a lot. Great job Eileen. You are the best teacher on RUclips!!
You need to use *RUclips speed control* to slow down the speech. Here is how to do it: *Desktop Computers and Laptops:* open the video, then go to the *lower right of the video's screen* and click on the *settings* icon (it looks like a GEAR). I've been learning for the same amount of time but I understood him only when he spoke Hsk Level words 😆 like "Cheap' and "But" 😆😂 I suggest you study everything on this video Only study this video for the next two weeks Don't study anything else. Just study this book. Slow it down to capture the vocab and hear him clearly, then play it normal speed. By the end of two weeks, you'll understand everything. 🥹 I suggest you do this with all of Mandarin corner's videos that are like this, like when she visited her home town in a village and rode a bike in the rain. It's all practical vocabulary. It's not like how Hsk and elementary books put them together for us. I don't use books a lot anymore. They get crippling after a while. I use them only to familiarize myself with vocabulary but everything is just studying videos and natural speakers in practical environments like this. Also, I suggest that you use CHINESE ZERO TO HERO's platform. languageplayer.io/ This language player use to be free but now it's a one time payment of $80 or something like that. It's really effective. All the verbs are highlighted for you, and for whatever word you want to save, it'll test you on the meaning when you watch other shows through it. I like this method too
You can take solace from an overseas Chinese who grew up speaking English first and Cantonese second. I'm still trying hard to understand Mainland Mandarin with their accent, especially the northern ones. I'd guess you're not a Chinese and you may need to find a way to interact with natives more often to familiarise your ears.
Hearing him talk about Henan brought back some nice memories. First time I realized my Chinese was improving, I was in a taxi in Henan, zhengzhou. That place was home for me most of my adult life❤
Amazing work 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 Eileen 老师. Beyond the study of the language, this is great content for anybody who is interested in different cultures and lifestyles. I have lived in Beijing for years but my work doesn’t allow me to travel across China. Your channel reminds me how big China is and I love the language even more
As a an oversea chinese in France. I always admire how my people can live and be so positive in a so competition country. They work so hard compare to France. This channel is a wonderfull place to learn chinese because eileen's interviews are so interesting and so true about chinese daily life that you dont feel asleep when learning a foreign language ;-)
I'd love to drive taxi cab in China for free, I make sense in over 15 languages, alas I like dama too much for my autism and driving is my special passion.
Don't fret if you can't understand everything If you watch the video 100 times, of course you'll understand it. 🙃His accent is heavy and I noticed he doesn't pronounce every character as clear as the interviewer. If you play it at 0.5 speed, it'll sound like he isn't even saying every word 😂 It's crazy
Actually, quite a few of our videos can be considered advanced. The reason we labeled them as "intermediate" is because they purposely contain *English translation* and *pinyin* to aid intermediate students in tackling more advanced content. We know this does not follow the conventional definition of "intermediate" but we reasoned that if a student was truly "advanced", they would *not* need English translation and pinyin - hence the "Intermediate Chinese" label on most of our videos. Truly advanced students can go to mandarincorner.org/videos-by-student-level-and-subjects/#ingles_no_ingles to watch videos *without* English translation or get transcripts with Hanzi only (for supporters only).
*Download pdfs, audio (mp3), videos, Anki flashcards, HSK courses and more for as low as $10!* mandarincorner.org/store/

Most of them a hard to understand though. This guy is already one of the more understandable.
It's a hard job . I respect the sacrifices he does. I hope he has a better life in the future and the chance to be with his family.

I tuned in for a Chinese lesson not an emotional rollercoaster 🥲
The driver seems like a really nice hardworking guy. Great interview, thanks!

I love your channel. You always make real creative content. Your channel the best in all over the world
I love this because it's helps to see the characters while he's speaking since he has an accent. 🙏🏾
Yes 🥲 those S instead of Sh, and C instead of Ch make it harder on us learners
This is such a great resource, please do more of these with lots of different people, it really gives learners a good idea of how to interact in china with workers and service people to create small talk of light conversation

Hearing him talk about Henan brought back some nice memories. First time I realized my Chinese was improving, I was in a taxi in Henan, zhengzhou. That place was home for me most of my adult life❤
I hope in the future Ill have a good memory of if it just like you do haha
I'm in 郑州 right now
Your interviews are the best.
This is great. Would love to see more videos with other types of jobs!
His life is pretty difficult. Poor guy.
I love these native conversation videos - and they’re about food topics too.. thank you!
I love your videos, they are very interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I thought 九九六 was bad.

good father
Great

Communism doesn't work.
@@sasino They always emphasize the so-called 'communist spirit' but they act like the most capitalistic country.

in which city where they driving pls
Zhongshan city, as stated in the video.
I notice that each video says intermediate Chinese. Will you release advanced ones sometime in the future?

👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Where's the free bits? lol
