people(viewers) like street interviews but don't like to be interviewed
doesn't matter that much the topics, you just want to hear average people opinions and not a politician or a journalist opinion who tends to be biased often
something was a little off,2 girls were one said "let me talk" it was daylight when they were interviewed and at the end of video it was evening
you can keep a person 5 minutes maximum 10 minutes to say his/her opinions but to keep them more than 30 minutes seems hostage situation

      1. If 2.2 percent of 13 Million people would be 273 000 people in the USA are dead.
      2. The death rate in the USA was 0,0769 percent from flu.
      3. The rate in China now experts calculate with more than 3 percent.

She's the ONLY teacher I know who can assure 100% listening comprehension, even up to native level, over time BECAUSE English is kept at a minimum. Out of the 4 pillars of language learning, listening comprehension is always the hardest to really master. Great content! It is a good way for me to try and follow the conversation. But when I don't understand at all, I can still understand because of the translation!
Maybe a small tip. Sometimes you ask a closed question. For example: 'What should be her ultimate goal in life?' at 29:54. You follow up with having babies/marry or persuit happiness. This way people are framed to choose 1 of the 2 options. While when you ask open ended questions. Often way more interesting and random answers come.
Nevertheless I find Chinese people generally very open when you interview them. They go very indepth in their effort to answer your questions. In the West many people might not have this patience. Or even haven't thought about it that deeply.
    太谢谢你了,你对我们真好!

@ 2AM and I thoroughly enjoyed those interviews. Such a wide ranging points of view.
A few years back I ran into a phenomena called MGTOW, Men Going Their Own Way, here in North America. Many of the point's about the Left Over Women were brought up in the discussion of why men were not marrying. I'm too old now to really be MGTOW, as my "market value" has descended to rock bottom, but at the time, things were different. Yet I was still on the shelf.
In some ways these women have placed themselves beyond reach of "normal" guys.
When people said that the left over women had high standards, they didn't explain it very well. First off, yes they are materially and financially well off. But there also is the Social Status aspect. A woman who has achieved higher education, financial and career status, also has achieved a higher social status. A woman who has achieved high social status, won't marry below that status, even it the guy owns a small contracting business and makes good money.
The pool of guy's in the west who will meet the women's standards has diminished over the past 20 years. Fewer men are taking higher education, while the Universities are full of women looking for the perfect career and hopefully their "MRS" degree. Then they go into the working world and it's the same. Mr Right, has to be at or above their level. But there again the pool of men is a dwindling resource.
Interesting conversations. Subscribed, not for the language courses, just to learn more about China. Cheers

'Left-over women' is a manufactured term used to disempower women who have not yet married, either out of choice or simply because they have not found a suitable or ideal partner. It is also a term that the rest of society can easily adopt to discriminate against those who have not conformed to 'social norms' by exerting societal pressure and perhaps a certain amount of unfair judgement on women have not yet married or who have divorced. It is a term that is conducive to the aims and interests of the existing patriarchy in China and both men and women on the mainland should reject it completely. - Great video by the way. Your videos remain outstanding. Your format of teaching through dialogues about interesting and relevant topics has no match. My small issue is with the English translation which is critical for some learners (I am one). Sometimes I find small mistakes. For example shen you tihui I feel means she has a deep understanding. You translate tihui to mean resonates which I don’t think is the most precise word here.

That term is rather weird. As one woman said here, they are just "not married", that is all. I guess it has to to with the special marriage situation in traditional Chinese families: Married means the woman's family has the right to invade the husband'S lifefor ever and share his income. Right?
So, the daughter was seen as an investment which had to bring returns. In earlier times more than today, I hope ...

That's true if the man and women got married and they both have great careers but what will happen if they had a child, that would mean the wife would have to give up her career to take care of the child and the husband will have to work double for the wife and child wouldn't that be harder for the both of them in life.

I’m an American, and I think the statement left over woman is a terrible statement. I know it’s a different culture and sayings. But when I think of leftovers, I’m thinking food that might not get eaten and thrown in the garbage. And a human life is more precious than that. It just doesn’t sound good to me. That’s all.

I truly hope I will not being rude to anybody but here is something that is always on my mind ( I live in china and love it by the way ). I feel a little strange when I always hear " it's Chinese tradition " to get married at a quite young age and having children young as well, I think almost all the countries on this planet has similar traditions but as we are now in 2020 things are different than in 1920, no? I mean when some people talk about tradition I feel like they want to say something like It has been like that, it is like it and it will always be like that....Isn't it a little strange ?
The tall guy with the brown jacket is such a nice person I think.

I am a chinese(female btw) and i got your point.
A chinese literator LuXun(鲁迅)has a saying: "Is it right because it has always been like that?"(从来如此,便对吗?-quote from A Madman's Diary).
Most of times, this is my "fight weapon" to the traditional things that i don't like.

7:14 she's confusing lust and wild feelings for love.
Love is what grows over time when some of the things that initially brought you together disappear. Love is what you do and sacrifice for another person.
So you can either only think about your own needs and feelings:
    Your relationship will fail.
You'll keep finding something new for 10-20 years until you're not desirable.
You'll end up alone or having to settle for somebody you wouldn't have chosen.
You'll be miserable for the rest of your life because you still miss the point of love.
Or you can grow to love your partner:
That mindset will lead to true maturity, happiness, and successful marriage.
This is the problem today. Everyone is so self-centered. "How do I feel? What can I gain? Is this person good enough for me?" It's disgusting.
Rather, ask "How does my partner feel? Are their needs met? What can I do to make them happier?" If both sides have this way of thinking, they will both be taken care of and love naturally grows. Not from receiving, but from giving. Investing.
