If Papa put on the Michael Myers mask at the end, it would’ve been a dude pretending to be another dude in a mask pretending to be another dude in a mask potentially causing a tear in the time space continuum.
Typical Ghost song. First listen is like idk. Then you find yourself playing it all day on repeat using anything you can find as a drum kit. Tobias knows how to make infectious songs. Also love the middle breakdown, so much like Zenith.
lol My late fiance was a Scotsman and he always referred to "A Hungers Moon" or a "Border Moon" between his *Extremely* thick accent and the old fashioned (we had a big age difference) and unusual terms and phrases and ability to talk at (what felt like) a couple thousand words a second he would confuse the hell out of people. It was fun to just watch the facial expressions of the unsuspecting strangers who attempted small talk.
Tobias Forge has truly come into his own. His stage persona, his voice, his mastery of the stage and of course, the best music. Each album he creates is so different from the one before, but each one is just as awesome as the one before. I hope Impera finally gives him the validation and legitimacy of the hard work he has put in over the years. He has paid his dues and has change coming back!
It's a mostly upbeat song, but every so often it unexpectedly dips into minor key in that tell-tale little way that makes me love Ghost so much. Very glad they're holding on to that signature
@@JKryanX I admit I don't have the hearing to catch onto that all the time, but I'm talking about the parts where they slip into an unexpectedly minor chord. I know my music teacher at some point taught me what that's called but I fully forgot
My favorite thing is that the chorus after each Hunter's Moon is literally the Michael Myers theme. They've changed the pitch and things but the syncopation lines up and it sounds so fucking cool.
I don't really know anything about horror movies but I work at a movie theater and I look forward to this song everytime I clean Halloween Kills. It's so good. I'm gonna miss it when it leaves but I'm glad I found the song on here
When I finished watching Halloween Kills in theaters, I stuck around through the whole end credits scene just banging my head, hyped hearing Ghost in an actual movie theater
Dude! I worked at a movie theater too! I would sit around after cleaning Halloween Kills even if I was in a rush, just to hear this song. Every time. So cool to read that someone else did the same thing I did!
Really not for me probably the reason you like pop and most of us GENUINE Ghost fans love real music ,You're clearly just a one hit fan so go away and leave the real Ghost fans alone,Not welcome at all
Even as a fan boy I was feeling very "meh" at first but after several listens I'm definitely digging it. The reverb on those drum fills is sexy and the guitar work of picking out the notes in the chorus brings a deeper beauty to the song than if they just played chords. The main guitar riff is cool and "off time" which I dig. The only criminal part of this song is at 2:24 when the ghouls were gearing up for what could've been a dark, nasty solo and the song goes back to vocals without ever busting that nut. Tragic but overall good tune.
@@Zoggest oh I fully admit that if I wasn't already a fan from the opus eponymous days I and was just now introduced to them via this song...I don't think I'd have climbed on the train
It's the exact mix of Rock, Progressive Rock, Metal and Pop. The whole development from the bridge to the chorus with that progressive arrangement is wonderful. The minor chord that sneaks into the harmony of the bridge for a moment is great
@@nickfrappe1251 I agree it's rebranded metal. But the genius is in using a horror movie/satanic theme to rebrand it. If you watch the countless live Ghost videos you can see we've been crying out for a new great live guitar band for ages.
@@DanAdlingtonOnline Uhm what? You do know that Alice Cooper did just that in the 80ies right? Rob Zombie. Marilyn Manson. Slipknot. The list is long. Nothing new, extra ordinary or unique about it. Metal and horror have gone hand in hand since late 60ies.
The clergy has blessed us with another masterpiece, at last. This song is Ghost as we all know it. Absolutely amazing. Thank you Papa for blessing us with this. We have waited long, but it was worth it. Thanks for coming back to us
Just noticed the main guitar riff has a slight similarity / variation to Halloween theme by John Carpenter. Try to sing it on top, and you’ll notice. Genius!
Ghost is one of those bands where their songs just either are something that you absolutely love on the first listen or they end up growing on you like an acquired taste, I totally love this song after a few listens, ghost never goes wrong
@@Lurker.616 where? I think it was probably me lol I posted this comment in 2 different ghost videos (I just had to you know?😂) but if you see anyone else copying my comments pls report it!
“It’s been a long time coming….I’m coming back for you my friend” that hit me when I came back to revisit this banger! I love his delivery, it’s so haunting and fits perfectly!
According to tracklist on 7 inch LP, Tracklisting: Side A: Hunter's Moon Side B: Hunter's Moon (Film Version) I think one version is going ti be an 'album version'.
Tobias Forge is really good at writing melodies. As far as musical and vocal melodies go, he is probably one of the best writers I have heard in a while. Aside from that, I love how he mixes in late 70s-80s keyboard sounds. It really gives the music a great nostalgic feel, while sounding fresh and vibrant. The only complaint I have is about the direction of the band. Tobias seems to be taking the band more in the direction of a comedy act than going deeper and darker, which is what I was hoping for. This song gives me hope that he will be a more serious and darker from here on out.
Agreed on everything, except I'm little sceptic on comedy part, there is lots of hidden darkness in some of those funny parts, how can I say, every clown is laughing but doesn't mean that is happy🤣
I'm concerned about the direction too. Prequelle was too commercial and predictable. Unfortunately it looks like he's trying to make Ghost as big as possible so I think we can expect more of the same. They had such a mystique about them through the first 3 albums, aided by their hidden identity. I don't think they can get that magic back. We'll see.
@@klausmaccus4397 As someone who wasn't on the Ghost bandwagon from the beginning and only really started paying attention towards the end of Infestissuam and shortly before Meliora was released, I have to completely disagree - their more recent output is justy wayyyy better, both in terms of composition and pop accessibility than the first two albums. Meliora and Prequelle are in an entirely different class from the first two albums as far as I am concerned and I think they are still to write their best songs.
One of my best friends died last year in a car crash, he was 18 and we shared a love for Ghost. But when he died, I somewhat grew apart from Ghost because it felt wrong listening to them without him. He would’ve loved this for sure. And today I was told my cousin will have to be taken off of his life support, he was more like a brother to me and this song just resonated with me. Brought me comfort. I know you probably won’t see this but if by chance you do, thank you Tobias and co.
It's cool that the first verses of the song are: "It's been a long time coming. I'm coming back for you, my friend" I wonder if this was written as a greeting for all of us.
Heard them on the radio about a month ago for the last few years I've thought rock has sucked as far as new artists and songs however these guys are awesome
Great, now I can't get the image out of my head of TF just out of frame with that leafblower, bouncing around like he does, and making strange, gleeful noises... Damn it!😂
Freddy Krueger has dream warriors by dokken, Jason Voorhees has "he's back" from alice cooper and now Michael Myers finally has his own song by Ghost, it was really necessary.
@@spaceinvader8791 Yeah, and that means nothing. Dream Warriors was literally about a specific character, designed for the film. This isn't, and wasn't. They're not the same concept at all.
@@grabble7605 yes this song was. Sure, it's not like Man behind the mask or Dream Warriors because the video/lyrics aren't beating you over the skull but there's clearly things in the lyrics that illude to it being made for Halloween. Not to mention the fact it was released in direct correlation to Halloween Kills. Even the instrumental after the chorus sounds suspiciously like the Halloween theme.
I hope they play it here in Phoenix, Arizona in March!!!!! I'm so excited to see them! It will be my first Ghost concert and also Volbeat! I just might die! 😭😭😭
@@user-uk9er5vw4c Not bad for a cover band/small venue. Singer's good but, and maybe it's just me, it doesn't seem to have the same chemistry as Ghost.

Great song, so excited for the new album... Tobias is definitely a genius making his songs... I really hope to see a movie about the ghost lore someday!
Hunter's Moon is my 2 year old's favorite song by ghost. The moment I told her I was listening to "Papa Emeritus" sing, she giggled and loved it. Spillways was both of our introductions to Ghost, but Hunter's Moon has been requested more in the last year+ by her than anything else!
At this point, Ghost can do no wrong. Period. It’s been proven. The vignettes, the look, the sound. Yes, last album was a touch “weak” in speed and evil, but overall, this band is a goldmine for the genre.
What if they really are trying to persuade us to worship Satan? They have cast a spell on me. If Tobias tried to recruit me for team Satan, I would have to consider it. If I met him and he was cool and he paid me a compliment or two and/or let me be a Ghoul, I would be on a jet ski in a Lake of fire, listening to Ghost and bangin’ hot chicks! 😎😎. Hell. I guess everyone is hot in Hell. Even Mother Theresa🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😂😎😂😂
@@chrisslooter2825 I think that’s what makes this band great, every album has its unique sound - something that’s surprisingly difficult for most artists. If I want the Opus sound I’ll go listen to Opus, I wouldn’t want then trying to imitate it on the new album.
@@Dirkschneider you know, everyone has different opinions, but that don’t mean you have to be a bit aggressive about it. Can share your opinion, but try to be nicer? “In my opinion, the song doesn’t fit as I thought the film wasn’t that good, but glad to hear another’s opinion!” or something like that?
How awesome is it that, 40 years and more later, Tobias takes the original theme of Halloween written in just a few days by John Carpenter and makes it sound even creepier... I have absolutely no words on how this guy makes everything he touches sound like the classic and yet gives a new twist to it
@@PippoFrancoPippo really? I'm pretty sure i hear the same repetitive notes in the chorus, the electric guitar part. Maybe not the same thing but it certainly reminds me of the original
Now that the hype over a new Ghost song has ended, I think it's time we can really appreciate how good this is. The lyrics telling a story of something of a melancholic nastalgia (while feeling completely distinct from Zombie Queen, which is about the same thing) and the rock n' roll tune that feels both spooky and inviting come together to make this peice of pure art... Though my memories are faded, I'm listening to the song again.
Glad to see a new song! Falls in line with the love of horror movies. There have been a few bangers floating around (like the sympathy for the devil cover with the hellacopters). Guess Tobias is pushing for some exposure, can't wait for the next album! :D
It has intoxicated me so much I keep playing it over and over and over again it's mesmerizing it's addictive ,the whole album is...... words are just..... I loved this band from the beginning for me this is the best album of the year.
I also like the classic rock (mid 70's to early 80's) nostalgic sound that is in almost all their music. The Foo Fighters and Nirvana had a bit of that early retro-rock sound too.
@@jerzu9728 From the same interviews from a year or so ago Tobias said that it will be as heavy as Meliora but in a different way, it will be more riff based and won't have ballads like Life Eternal. Return to roots maybe?

Nothing beats new Ghost tracks. This band is the Led Zep of our time. Beyond epic and always original. Can't wait for the new album! Papa IV is going to kick ass!
I think of Tobias Forge almost as a rocker version of Trent Reznor at his best - he's the guy who writes everything, plays a whole hell of a lot of the instruments on the albums, and arranges all the outside musicians, hires touring bands, directs the whole show... and is fucking amazing at what he does. Love him or hate him, he's a hell of a musician!
I've been patiently waiting for new Ghost, and I am NOT disappointed whatsoever!! The first listen I was like "WTF is this"? But by the third time I'm like "F*** YES"!!!!! I love it!! The Halloween references are always welcomed as well!!
The old writers from meliora are gone. they sued tobias for not paying them equally All the ghouls you see now are imposters. They were the talent and Tobias focuses too much on his voice in these songs. He has a good voice, but the lyrics used to mean so much more and the deliverance of the lyrics with the band’s talent was undoubtedly better than these new guys. He shoulda just paid his Swedish bois some more money. The band would still kick ass like in meliora. Maybe he’s not focusing on his voice so much as the band can’t keep up. Go listen to meliora if you haven’t. They disabled comments on those songs most likely bc the fans noticed the change and saw the lawsuit.
Ghost is amazing, I lose interest and then they come out with another banger of a song and I LOVE them all over again. Tobias is a goddamn GENIUS, _bless_ him...I know, ironic, right? But I think even God can appreciate this band's hilarious approach to Satanism.
I wonder if God has a whole staff of angels in his ministry whose only job is trying to figure out how to deal with Ghost. “Um, well, Sir, our research shows that they just came off tour and they drew young, old, strong, infirm, Satanists, and Christians alike, and EVERYBODY HAD A BLAST.” “Yes, they’re actually really good people. Sir.” “Sir, I’d like to volunteer to do field research the next time they’re on tour.” “Yeah, us too!” God scratches His head and sings, “How do we solve a problem like Tobias?”
Tobias did it once again: Another excellent composition but for a movie score this time. I always knew he'd be the perfect fit to compose a song for one of these horror flicks! This is just brilliantly executed. If you listen close you can hear there are subtle hints to Carpenter's original 1978 soundtrack. The cool thing about this song is that its essence, if you will, is revealed in the first half minute, ergo it must be the credit score playing at the end of the upcoming movie. You can hear Tobias really put some thought into this, revealing its "hooks" really early on to capture an audience that's already on the edge of their seat from an undoubtedly tense end scene of this movie. Really nicely done, once again! I wonder if he also did some of the rest of the soundtrack for the movie, because those horrifying synths and choirs would be perfect! His father was into film production and I know that this is what Tobias always wanted to do as well. I hope he will continue living his dream and make more productions like this, because it suits him perfectly! Can't wait for the new album to be released!
Michaels mask can be seen at 3:07 and also Halloween kills starts playing at the end…This is michaels theme…Finally we have a theme for Michael the same way dream warriors is for Freddy and the man behind the mask is for Jason.
Gotta laugh at the comments from the "hard core" metal fans, getting all upity and upset because they made the fatal mistake of taking Ghost seriously. Not even Ghost take Ghost seriously (lest of all them actually). Just enjoy it for what it is, a fun movie soundtrack and learn to take some joy in life.
Some of the best bands Know it's best to find joy/humor where you can. FFDP has a song called Jeckel and hide. It has on of the more metal looking members knitting/crocheing a blanket.
I love the humor but you must admit, they got a lot more commercial and lost some of their magic. They're not as dynamic as they used to be. Almost every song has repetitive arena rock choruses and such. I miss the mysterious, brilliant and dynamic band that gave us songs like Zenith and Monstrance Clock.
This song has been stuck in my head for days. It is amazing. The vocals are amazing. I liked the almost amateur-ish approach to music before but this is professional music. Just discovered this band and now I see what I've been missing! Great stuff! What's really clever about this music is that if you put this song in a slightly different context and production it could be Abba!! Some of their other songs have Opeth / early Slayer type riffs just with less distortion and different production, making it palatable for everyone. Bravo lads, bravo \m/!
This album was actually recorded in ABBA's old studio where they recorded most of their biggest hits:) Tobias Forge is a big fan of them and their inspiration is indeed quite obvious and especially on the three latest albums. One or two (forgot) instruments that ABBA used when recording are used on this latest album of Ghost. I think one was used on Money, Money, Money, and was used by Forge while recording Spillways and i think one other tune. It's in the intro of Spillways, among other timestamps

lol My late fiance was a Scotsman and he always referred to "A Hungers Moon" or a "Border Moon" between his *Extremely* thick accent and the old fashioned (we had a big age difference) and unusual terms and phrases and ability to talk at (what felt like) a couple thousand words a second he would confuse the hell out of people. It was fun to just watch the facial expressions of the unsuspecting strangers who attempted small talk.
That was lame
My favourite part is when he said "its Mooning time"
wats difrence between being 'its a hunters moon' and being 'like' 'its a hunters moon', hmmm. y'all speak with way tu many likes, like come'on haha

Tobias Forge has truly come into his own. His stage persona, his voice, his mastery of the stage and of course, the best music. Each album he creates is so different from the one before, but each one is just as awesome as the one before.

Truth
We'll see.
He doesn't write them. The base is bought and the worked on
@@klausmaccus4397 As someone who wasn't on the Ghost bandwagon from the beginning and only really started paying attention towards the end of Infestissuam and shortly before Meliora was released, I have to completely disagree - their more recent output is justy wayyyy better, both in terms of composition and pop accessibility than the first two albums.

I also understand what happiness is again from this. Not even to mention the most incredible part that is 2:10. Bacon spinning has changed my life for the better. It connects with the characters within the viewers, individuals suppressed within our own subconscious. It stays vibrant, fresh, and revolutionizes the art of storytelling and filmmaking while making a damn of statement on what it means to be human. Entertaining, gripping, and simply exhilarating. This might be the most impactful piece of art I’ve come across in my life, and I’m definitely coming back to it in the near future to study it more deeply. this is an absolute masterpiece , I was brought to tears listening to this and seeing the bacon go whirly swirly in a circle countless times. it absolutely moved my soul , and I don't think I can ever be the same. this bacon has changed my entire mental state , I am now at peace with who I am and what I will be doing later in my life. So much great graphic design, so much suspense, so much greatness in this one video. i have forgiven all my enemies and now I am a man of a pacifist life. I will move on , gotta move on , as the song says. the bacon is so inspirational , it shares it vast wisdom with all of us , and we are all so lucky that it would bestow it's great words with us. we are all children on bacon. hail bacon. hail bacon. The spinning bacon, rotating in one direction with this music... This made me tear up. How could such a bacon do such a thing? I'm struck by awe by this masterpiece. Especially when the bacon spins, showing its lightly salt covered tan skin. I can hear the crunch just from here, and so as the beautiful sound of the bacon scraping the dark, smooth velvet floor. The flavor, music and everything can be heard, tasted, seen and felt from a screen. You can really hear the breaths between the music artist, empathizing her love for this rotating bacon. Truly what I call modern art. This was the most legendary performance by any bacon I have ever watched. The acting was top tier and very life changing. This is one of the greatest work from a piece of bacon I have ever seen especially on 57:42. I am crying. This has made me go through an emotional rollercoaster. I cried, beat off, and also watched a movie while watching this premiere. This has made me go through so much. I passed depression because of this. It really inspired me to become an outstanding young man. Thank you.
Nothing beats new Ghost tracks. This band is the Led Zep of our time. Beyond epic and always original. Can't wait for the new album! Papa IV is going to kick ass!
They are such a breath of fresh air. So original AND interesting. And the music is AEWSOME! So glad a friend turned me onto them a few years ago.
They are better than Zeppelin if you ask me.
@@patepulkkinenvtec2403 Ghost is simply Iron Maiden of their generation :)
Honestly reminds me more of Blue Oyster Cult, with their wider range of styles. Led Zeppelin had more of a fondness for Epic Ballads.
Ghost just knows how to write great songs. They simply have “it.” They’re the best band in the world.
wouldnt say the best but they're good
The old writers from meliora are gone. they sued tobias for not paying them equally All the ghouls you see now are imposters.
Spread the word about Tobias money milker
@@garitcarijean5612 Not sure if serious or stupid. Tobias IS Ghost...
Not THEY, but HE. Ghost IS Tobias Forge
Ghost is amazing, I lose interest and then they come out with another banger of a song and I LOVE them all over again. Tobias is a goddamn GENIUS, _bless_ him...I know, ironic, right? But I think even God can appreciate this band's hilarious approach to Satanism.
Amen to that. I am a Christian and love thier creativity, I will take Ghost over truly evil artists like Cardi B who literally has orgies onstage.
I'm waiting for a musical!
Duuude I hope he did and gets nominated for an Oscar!
Yea when I heard the guitar lead tease the Halloween theme I got a little bit of chills. Well done.
Alice Cooper did "He's Back (The Man Behind The Mask)" for Friday The 13th Part IV, and Tobias sounds like him here.
@@ChrisPage68 Yeah, I can hear some Alice here! Good call!

Michaels mask can be seen at 3:07 and also Halloween kills starts playing at the end…This is michaels theme…Finally we have a theme for Michael the same way dream warriors is for Freddy and the man behind the mask is for Jason.
I am totally getting a Dokken vibe at the very beginning that made me think of Dream Warriors.
This: 0:45 is a straight up ABBA. It's more the rhythm of the vocals than anything.
Michael Myers: "I can really relate to this song..."
*corkscrews someone's head*
Michael Myers: "Anyway..."
I like how Michaels been killing for 40 years and you chose the corkscrew kill from H20.
Agreed.
For real
Some of the best bands Know it's best to find joy/humor where you can. FFDP has a song called Jeckel and hide. It has on of the more metal looking members knitting/crocheing a blanket.
I see Ghost like they are the "KISS" of our era. Fun rock n roll circus
Papa Emeritus IV will be the greatest Papa of all. Thank you Sister Imperator for your wonderful guidance. You have done well in choice, Sister.
A few years ago I was telling people "Watch this band. They're on the way up". It's good to see that I wasn't let down.
Anyone else suddenly want Ghost to make their own slasher movie now?
Of course yes,
Definitely need this. Anything would be better that Cradle of Filth's film forays, haha
I want to see a Scooby-doo chapter.
Yessss and you just know it’ll have a weird sense of humor about it too
Tobias has mentioned it in the past. He just doesn't seem to want it to involve Ghost directly, storywise at least.
Fun fact: John Carpenter wanted ghost for the original Halloween, but Papa Nihil was already too big so they couldn’t afford to license the music.
You know that ghost only formed in 2006 yeah?

When I’m shopping at the supermarket I’m singing those lyrics out loud and I think people want to have me committed.
Brilliant lyrics and superb video
This is Ghost, great mixture of the old and new sound, bit like secular haze meets square hammer without being to similar. Awesome🤘

One of those songs that keeps getting better the more you listen. Can’t get enough Ghost!
I know I am very late to the party, as this was the very first Ghost song I had ever heard. And it isn't like I'm very young. 34 and somehow missed out on this amazing band over the years. And honestly, as my first song, it is a helluva good song.
Also, was this song used in Halloween Kills? I honestly don't know since I haven't seen the movie yet.
I got got into Ghost that way as well
Absolutely love Ghost's style. It was only a little over a year ago that I first even heard of them and I've been hooked since. And so perfect for the new Halloween movie coming out.

Just discovered this band and now I see what I've been missing! Great stuff! What's really clever about this music is that if you put this song in a slightly different context and production it could be Abba!! I introduce Ghost as ABBA Metal xD
I heard this song described as “Scooby-Doo metal” and now I want to see a Scooby-Doo/Ghost crossover more than I’ve wanted anything else in my life.
