Another great who created and grew the roots of modern music, especially the Rock-n-Roll era! Who but Courtney and a bunch of us old fogies even know of him, and she researched the DANCE MOVES for each named dance in his song. Absolutely nails this song. If I don't stop listening to this young world-class superstar, my sock budget is gonna explode! Go Courtz!

Another good Courtz reaction, QR! She was 13 when she performed in the AGT audition, and she just turned 14 for this second performance of hers. This was a James Brown tune and Courtney previously stated she learned her quirky-cool dance moves from watching James Brown on YT. Although most viewers loved her performance, there was a small group of haters that put down her singing and dancing which is why she stated some people "don't get me".
One year after her 2018 AGT performance, she recorded and released (Spotify, Apple Music, etc.) a set of four cover songs called "Cover Sessions" . . . Two beautiful ballads ("Sign of the Times" and "Someone You Loved") one pop song to which she added lots of funk and soul ("Sucker") and one hip-hop + country fusion song ("Old Town Road") which she completely turned into a rock song. I'd love to watch your reactions to those four songs!
Here is the link to the four "Cover Sessions" songs - ruclips.net/channel/UCJ0UIOws33p5zRE6Eul3rlw THANK YOU!!! 🙏

Hi QoFy. Great reaction. Courtney is the best thing to happen to music in decades. She is incredible in so many ways and as you hear more of her you will see that not only is she a great vocalist and stage dominating performer. Her creativity is off the charts. She is a terrific guitarist and a powerhouse as a song writer. During her stint on AGT, Courtney sang exclusively classic rock and one option is to continue to react to her remaining AGT performances before moving on to her other music. Links are below. However, since Courtney only sang rock on AGT, many thought that was all she could do. Few realized that she has one of the most beautiful and versatile voices in music. As a result, she released a series of four covers, called the 'Cover Sessions', where she took massive hit songs and re-invented them as her own. The nearly universal opinion is that her versions, across multiple different genres, blew the mega-hit originals out of the water. The goal was to highlight her vocal range, from Rock to R&B, Funk, Soul, and Ballads and show her unmatched musical creativity. When you react to these covers, always make sure you have heard the originals first, because I promise that Courtney's versions will sound nothing like them. Links are below for these four songs as well. As you get to see more of Courtney's music, you will see why so many of us who follow her think she is both the voice and artist of a lifetime.

Love it. Seeing reactors new to Courtney who can really appreciate her old school style. You got a good voice too. That note you were talking about that she lands on, is a very common blues thing that's used. Courtney uses the blues scale a lot and bends her notes like a lead guitarist or Sax player would do in blues. She doesn't have to sing a bluesy song to use that little trick she does. It's just any old school move. Think BB King or Allman Brothers who constantly used that major to minor and back again way of playing. Not many singers today sing that way anymore. She learned lots of her style from 60 and 70's old school artists. Whether or not she knows the theory behind or not I don't know, but it don't matter because she sings with feel and that's how it's supposed to be done.
Hope to see more Courtney from you. I just subscribed in hope of that. And look forward to many more great reactions like this one.

i agree. I believe that her natural voice just does it without even to manipulate the vocals. Her much younger days proves that by her singing these ballads that her voice is very natural blues sounding. a lot of Jazz blues use this methods, because the blues sound is very difficult to achieve in chord progression so in the likes of whom you mentioned along with Louis Armstrong and other famous Jazz Blues players and singers are so legendary. What I'm impressed w/is control. How, she can scale up then drop it so quick to a subtle soft tone, then come out strong, back down, then jump so high on the scale and drop so quickly. That's what mostly impresses me and that she can run around while controlling her wind from her lungs. I don't care you won't see anyone do that much w/o lip sync or not at all..

    • @bertpainter8385
      @bertpainter8385 3 года назад +1

@@vincentboyd6165 I'm with you about her dynamics. I was watching a video on this guy Tim Pierce who's a well sought after session musician and has played on hundreds of hit songs throughout the last 40 years and is always invited to play for the grammys band every year. ruclips.net/video/Sic3xFkZfQU/видео.html
He preaches learning dynamics is the number one thing for all the best musician. And changes everything once you figure out how to do it well. Courtney has been working on her dynamics it seems for a few years since AGT. It shows how she's taken her raw powerhouse vocals and fine tuned it in combination with using dynamics so quickly. Like you said it's like she's not even trying to do it. It just comes natural to her. She's only just beginning to explore all she can do. Too often we see young talented kids who topped out at that young age. But it seems with Courtney she's only beginning to be aware of all she will be in the future. Yet she don't need to do anything more to be right up there with some of the best their ever was/is. Be well.

    • @vincentboyd6165

@@bertpainter8385 yes, i totally agree. Her dynamics is very impressive. After watching a recent video that stated the contestant sang the most difficult song ever to sing; I was like are you kidding me? Courtney sang the same song on Voice UK Kids @ age 12 with more power and more feeling and just crushing the stage. I don't know if you seen that video and I forgot her name, but Simon i believe gave her a golden buzzer. It's under Simon Challenges contestant with most difficult song or something like that by Tina Turner. But, the girl much older than Courtney when she sang it, didn't have 1/10 of the Power and Feeling Courtney gave when singing the song and not very animated. There is no doubt that Courtney could be "Queen" of Rock and Roll. I don't even see it in Angelina Jordan not even close. I'm not even going to go through these other videos anymore saying singer blows away judges, because the last ten I had listened to and watched, I was like how does Simon put up with it? Well, I guess if I was getting paid like that, I suppose it makes it a bit easier and to keep a show going, you get what shows up. Then I seen Courtney's video singing "Long Tall Sally" by her favorite singer Little Richard and I just could not believe it. It was like she had been singing that song forever and so natural. She is just mind boggling. I love Music Game News reactions, because they're very similar to mine. You just can not believe what you are seeing... I still can't. :)

Love it, loved it, loving it, I must have watched this and all her other AGT performances over a hundred times. You have a lot good judging to do (I mean what a hard job judging Courtney is, ha haaa! ✌🤪😷👍☺️🥰😳❤❤❤❤❤❤❤)
I really have to get some sleep but I'm still laughing, crying, and try not crying when she gets that buzzer.
This "adorable" girl (what a lovely young man you are to see into her soul - and she will be adored in all languages - we are so lucky!)
She is a young lady now of 17years
She has a '4Covers' release that shows her versatility, incredible range, and an uncanny ability to rework the song to her liking and add to it's worth, paying every respect to the original, but then knocking it out of the park every time! It's the most commented talent people always spot.
Yes, keep following but do All her AGT & AGT Champions
But then search her RUclips package from when she was only 12 and opening with "Nutbush City Limits" Tina Turnet
Take it through to the finale where she eclipses any adult singer I've ever known with "I'm Telling You" ooohhh! She leaves 'adorable' way behind and just melts her soul, your soul, my soul and becomes nothing but pure voice!
You know I know how stuffy English audiences can be (who wouldn't necessarily see her 'in your face' style' as something they and their well behaved children could get behind. She came runner up but I will be more than happy for you to be the judge of that. She didn't win AGT either but was invited back for the Champions Show because the judges made no secret of the fact that they thought Courtney should win. Simon said "It's people like you Courtney that make us look good! enough said right there.
Courtney has her own channel but seriously just dive into that rabbit hole - it's deeper than you'ld think. Go to het school performances at 'Shotton Hall" stunningly singing "Say Something", "Rolling in the Deep", "Beautiful Me", "Ironic", " Titanium", "Who''s Loving You?" & "Man in the Mirror" MJ
"I Can't Help Falling in Love With You" Elvis
And you will see that she has dedicated much of her life toward a singing career and she has worked hard and never shrunk from some pretty big songs. There's plenty more
"What's Love Got to do With it?"
"Uh huh!", "Riptide", "Crazy", "I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing", "Nothing Compares 2U", "Black Velvet", "Tell Mamma", " I Have Nothing",
and many short sampling like "Let It Be" (unbelievable what she will do with this perfect classic)
    "Sweet Child of Mine"
    "Creep" , "I See Red",
"Happy Xmas" (I like "vertical version" over the "Dark Version" (same audio, different clip)
    "Love Hurts" a cover of
Miss Li (same style but Courtneys power brings another level of "real".
Originals are "Pretty Little Thing", " Why Don't We?",
    "Good Old Days"
    Her '4Covers' release has
"Sign Of The Times" Harry Styles
    "Someone You Loved"
    "Sucker" Jonas Brothers
    "Old Town Road" lil na's
Apart from all that we just can't wait for an album or a concert - but we have to so... we must.
Thank goodness Courtney doesn't mind us watching all these old old clips of young young Courtney. She does live chats on instagram but I'm 64 so I'll leave that to the kids :)
    REALLY ENJOYED YOUR REACTION

I'd sorta disagree with this sentiment. She HAS to have huge talent, no doubt, but in her earliest years you can see her trying to figure out "How do I do this the way Tina Turner did it?" Or "...the way James Brown did it?".... She's LEARNING from each experience. She's LEARNING from choir practice/instruction at school. She's LEARNING from those vocal lessons she bought with money earned busking, along with gas money. When she hit AGT she learned from observing others. She learned from what little they did to help folks get better (not much from what I've heard from other past contestants online). She got SOME instruction after being signed, though we (at least I) don't know how much and what it was really like. AND SHE'S BEEN STUDYING THOSE OLD PERFORMANCES FOR YEARS, now over a decade, easily, here on RUclips. She really is pulling herself up by her bootstraps, taking advantage of opportunities she gets. And she's working with Kevin Bowe, a Grammy winning songwriter-producer with whom she's been collaborating for ABOUT a year now, iirc. Not sure if I know when they started, come to think of it.
I really do think she's learning, practicing, and getting better every year. And she's been doing so for at least a dozen, probably closer to 14 years. That's a pretty good period to develop TRUE EXPERTISE in most any work domain, for developing serious skills and honing that born-with-it talent into world-class proficiency. Which is where she is now, IMHO. I'm positive we both agree on that point.

Any others than TVK-UK season 1 at 12yo? I know she did a lot of other local and regional competitions within her area of England, but not aware of anything at or beyond full-nation level. TVK and AGT have worldwide audiences (at least on YT, hard* to get TVK-UK or -Ukraine or most others outside YT vids if you're not in that franchise's country). Always willing to learn and to fill blind spots in my POV.

    • @givingin2G4Courtz
      @givingin2G4Courtz 10 месяцев назад

By the way, so have many of the other AGT contestants. They're SUPPOSED TO, as too many people who've NEVER BEEN ON ANY STAGE can fall flat on a show like AGT/BGT. As Simon, you want a few total newbies, but most need to be for sure good enough to give a good show. Besides, SHE WAS INVITED after her participation in TVK-UK in 2017. I'm sure Simon has LOTS of people looking for likely contestants that might just turn a good show into a phenomenal show. Courtney MIGHT be able to do that, they might think. (Well, hell yeah, I'd tell them, but they never asked ME!)
ALSO, TVK-UK is a much smaller show in a MUCH SMALLER venue, with a MUCH SMALLER live onsite audience, some of whom were family and friends of other contestants who'd been there the whole time, so they were known quantities to a shy girl of 12yo/13yo. TVK-UK does NOT have savage Simon sitting right in front of stage with a big nasty sounding Red Buzzer which he is QUITE PROFICIENT with and willing to use.
AND, this had to have felt, to a 13yo being bullied at school for her singing and dancing and shyness, like AGT was her LAST CHANCE. That kind of thinking is fairly common in teens. Getting past that all or nothing kind of thinking is a part of growing up, too. The FEAR for a lost dream can be HUGE at any age, but it usually takes more time and situations encountered to help many a teen get past that kind of all or nothing thinking that seriously AMPLIFIES that FEAR.
As for bullying and the stress it builds up, the apparently weak kids always draw the bullies in primary and secondary schools. Shy, retiring equals weak in that brutal environment. If you don't think schools are brutal for kids who don't fit in well, THINK AGAIN. It's unfortunately human nature, and why they try to train kids out of it, in my experience, that doesn't work too well most of the time. At least until the bullies grow up, if they ever do, and develop even a smidge of empathy.
Here's a vid about what happened that day of her AGT audition, EXCEPT for the actual performance. Enlightening to watch her drawn face and hunched in shoulders, and her cringes as savage Simon's Red Buzzer goes off and dreams are crushed as people get sent home in failure.
      ruclips.net/video/bMJZzDzweK4/видео.html

Actually, if you pay attention at the moment, Simon sees Howie is going to press it and slams his own arm out too, indicating to me he also agreed and was ready to give Courtz that Golden Buzzer. It'd be interesting to interview all 4 judges now. Might find they were EACH ready to punch that button when their turn came (Simon WAITED to let others have chance, he could do it later if nobody else did it first, and he'd save his option for later if another did it. I'd really be interested in their answers.

Castellucci is an absolutely wonderful BEAST on those bass notes! Though I really prefer him in Voiceplay, especially for those fantastic performances in 7 Nation Army, Valhalla Calling, and Oogie Boogie. Superbe! And his demonstrated range, to date, is awe-inspiring. If he starts studying Dimash's mom's classical training methods, everybody better LOOK OUT! Of course it helps to start such training very very very early in one's life. Then again, Geoff already seems to have had a ton of excellent training and GOOD practice already, don't get me wrong. But if he ever got into whistle register anywhere near that right end of the keyboard, let alone D8, the world might end. I just don't think that much perfection could be stable. For that matter, Dimash is already down pretty d@#% deep already. Guess I better be careful what I wish for.
