Ah the memories. I climbed Rishiri last summer on a solo trip from Sapporo, it was the best 4 days of my life. Locals are so nice, the mountain is breathtaking and the whole island is just magical. While I was climbing up I couldn't see anything and the weather was so bad every Japanese hiker told me to turn around as they did because it's too dangerous, they were all wearing like 3-4 layers of mont bell while I was there in a T-shirt and a 100 yen raincoat haha When I got to the top it was like everything had stopped, the weather cleared and I saw the beautiful sight of the shoreline,it was so beautiful.
So glad it was a great time for you looks epic. Was in Wakkanai a few weeks ago when we heard news of an avalanche on Rishiri and a woman was killed. So glad you all were safe and had a great experience. Northern Hokkaido is a true frontier ❤
