    It's the first time I have seen someone do as I did when I built mine 3 years ago. Wool insulation, plus material covered pin board with wadding attached. The idea being that my insulation is totally breathable and dried with the diesel heater and vents. Great job..

    you can also rivnut into ply, ive tried it and it works. So you can use the same finished bolts

  • @Dirt-Diggler
    @Dirt-Diggler 2 года назад +1

    Totally agree 👍 i have 2 extractor fans and a roof vent, most people oversize a diesel heater anyway, a 5KW is overkill in a van so you have the extra heat capacity to "waste" some evacuating the moisture IMHO

    Great job and looks lovely. bang on with the insulation as well, the closed cell foam will stop alot of the condensation from forming on the ceiling anyway so you are defo on the right track without messing with vapour barriers, to my mind anyhow. Looking forward to see how the build develops.

  • @demonhogo
    @demonhogo Год назад +1

    I like this. I’ve always heard that you put the insulation directly on the van metal and foil backed plastic on the inside because of heat transfer. I’m sure it doesn’t really matter as people obsess over minutiae on RUclips 😩🖤

    • @urbanarkoverland
      @urbanarkoverland  Год назад

      You are talking about a vapour barrier. That’s not this.

    Your videos are all helpful and aside from the GZ Yeti I have also ordered high lockers from Evo Motion for my Sprinter, after watching your videos. The lockers are still on order and I am fitting fixing points into my van. I cannot find any videos on the locker fixing points other than yours. Granted the drawings from Evo show the cross bar where the locker is attached to the roof, but I was wondering about any fixing points on the wall. Do the lockers just hang from the fixing points in the roof are do you also fix them to the wall? Thanks again for all the videos and please upload more content.

      I’ll try.
      No. Ceiling fixings alone are def not enough. Either similar to walls with timber substrates. Or rivnuts to metal 👍🏻

    ive done ceilings before and those clips you are talking about are a nightmare. Your idea of rivnuts and nylon bolts really is a good idea. That is well smart. I liked your plywood ceiling frame , pocket holed into the beams. I will do what you are doing. Leave the strips as less is sometimes best. Your idea of aluminium strips might be overboard.
    How did you marry up the bolts into the rivnuts?
