Thanks for your comment. Indeed great combination! However, dealing with openings and endgames are two different businesses, and the miraculous Kh7 move as turning point of the game seems out of humain scope.
The end combination is totally stunning of course, but it does have something of the feel of a study to me. I find it hard to imagine a player being able to see far enough to sack the rook for that winning pawn endgame which goes so many moves deep. But as always beautifully explained, thank you Sam.
Interesting history but given the number of inaccuracies/ questionable moves you point out for like 35 moves in the game, I have serious doubts about the game. It looks like my game against a 1500 where both of us make terrible decisions and then my opponent detonates a 3000 level bombshell and I report them for cheating.
yeah, this game stinks to high heaven. i am a terrible chess player and even i could have played the opening better than black -- and then suddenly he is possessed by the ghost of Morphy or something? seems *highly* questionable lol
Oh Sam !! Oh Sam! This position is so famous. I have seen it in my life 100 times in diffrent magazines, books and Internet!
Hello just commenting that you make spectacular videos and appreciate you breaking it down by decade!
The opening was hilariously painful!
*The* most spectacular chess endgame combination of all time.
Thank you for that video, I really enjoyed the passion you showed in this video with the Bird's opening etc.

Wow! I always suspected that it would be Ortueta versus Saenz, I had no idea that it was actually played between two Poles.

Personally something feels amiss with this game. Black is playing ok at best up until the end, in which case he becomes and endgame wizard
Besides kh7, The tardiness of c4 is also a good reason to believe the game was constructed.
letss GOO !! finally at number one
Good for you

I can't wait for the twenties!
Were there any questions about this game's legitimacy?
Unbelievable pawn move
