Este es el mejor video explicar gerundios. Tan mucho mejor que mis antiguos tutores españoles trataron de explicar. ¡Muchísimas gracias! 🙌

We are learning this now in my college Spanish class. But you video has made it all so much clearer. My teacher is a native speaker like you, but she is not as talented in explaining like you are. On a side note, I like your Peru soccer jersey as my in-laws are from Trujillo and Laredo, Peru. They know little English, so they are not much help at all in working with me to improve my Spanish nor do they have the desire to unfortunately. Thanks again!

Oh wow! I used to live in Trujillo too! I'm glad this video helped you. I think after learning Spanish you will also need to learn how to dance Marinera hehe!🙂
Thanks for watching and please subscribe 🙏

¡Muchas gracias por el video! A veces es bastante dificil para entender la diferencia entre el gerundo y el infinitivo. Creo que este explication me ayudare en el futuro.

Super helpful video on a very confusing topic, thank you! I did have a semi-related question: are there additional rules for using the present indicative where a gerund would be used in English? A few of the examples here had “voy a” in place of a gerund or infinitive to say “I’m going to”. I mostly see this with “I’m going to”/“we’re going to” phrases but wondered if it applied to other verbs.

I don't think we have additional rules for present tense in Spanish and gerund in English. However, in Spanish we could say "voy a la tienda" which would be "I'm going to the store" and we could also say "estoy yendo a la tienda" which would be "I'm going to the store" as well. That's just more literal and less common. Thanks for watching our videos! 🙂

So, if I understand it correctly: The Spanish gerund is used for things that are occuring in the specified moment, but the infinitive is used for a occurrences that are not specific to that specific moment (general occurrences).
May have to watch the video again.

That is correct! 🙂👍 but there are also other rules, for instance, using infinitive after a preposition like: a, para, por, de, desde, etc.

Justo encontré esta joya de video después de pasar mucho tiempo tratando de entender los matizados con el uso de los gerundios... Gracias.
P.D... usé correctamente los gerundios arriba? Con los verbos pasar, tratar, entender? :)
