@@draco_2727 thank you. Yea that was perfect timing of when they passed by because we weren’t getting them in the radio too good. Didn’t know where they were
The hike out to the A6 isn't that bad. I did it in nearly 90°F temps. FYI, there is another plane wreck to the left of that sign yiu were at about 1/2 - 3/4 mile through the sage just back from the ridgeline. You can see shiny stuff from Google to give you a general area to pin drop for next time.
I wish I would have known about the other plane. Smh. Thanks for telling me. And we thought about the hike but we didn’t want to leave the rigs we heard it was more than a mile.
@@GrandExploration The A6 wreckage is scattered for at least a mile. All the way from just before the tail section all the way to the other ridgeline. I don't think the tail section was even a 1/2 mile from your trucks.
Love this shit! We got that red dirt here in Minnesota on the Iron Range! You can always tell in the twin cities who’s been up north wheeling in the iron dirt cuz they’re the only vehicle around covered in red mud 🤣

Maaan, this was great. The first hill would have been good to round up the jeeps in a circle pointing out, do a drone flight from the bottom as all of he headlight come on, on each jeep and go around them on the hill. Great shot. Looked like perfect place to camp out. Do you have any good recommendations for 2WD Overland trails?
Appreciate that and yes, that would have been a great shot. What area are you looking for trails in? Do you use an off-road mapping app like OnX off-road? That’s literally where I find my trails and it shows you the difficulty level and what vehicles you can use to get thru.
definitely didn't miss a spot lol. amazing rig. got me a 96 grand Cherokee. I'm bias as love solid axle but definitely see your rig is pretty capable. can't wait to see what's next for the grand
I wish I knew about this trip! I literally just drove from Tacoma, WA back to California, passing through Bend. When I lived in Bend I spend a ton of time out in the desert where you guys are at! If it is not on your list, there is a pretty sweet crater looking hole in the ground, called... "hole in the ground", off of the 31. Definitely worth a visit!

That would be @theStorytillnow and the Canadian crew who got the site closed after they drove and turned around on the crash site. Also going off trail is prohibited to go around mudholes. That’s what gets more of the Oregon lands closed. If the road is un passable you turn around you don’t drive off trail. RUclips Overlanders are getting lots of stuff shut down and there is more coming. People watch you guys do this stuff and then they go out there and cause huge problems.
you might want to checkout BLM regulations. What we did was not prohibited if you’re referring to us crossing over the mud pit. It was necessary and lawful. And turning around or backing up in that location was not an option my friend. Not safely at least.
@@paularmost8671 thank you. I’m still a young channel. It’s definitely growing consistently as I figure my own channel out. I’m in no rush. Just using this time to hone my craft. I appreciate you.
The A-6 site is literally a memorial crash site and people died there! Nobody should be driving through the middle of it. It only sets a bad example for others to do the same. My comment is similar to the other comment below. We are lucky @Storytillnow didn't get the whole road blocked off 10 miles back. Besides, the road only goes the very short distance to the top of the ridge from where you were parked and there is barely enough room for one rig to turn around before it becomes a flat and super easy walk to the crash. Although tempting to go around mud holes, it's important we educate people to try not to widen them out by going around. I recommend you and your followers watch the RUclips channel episode from @Ozark Overland Adventures, from two days ago titled "Don't Be THAT Guy" which describes why so many of our roads and trails are getting closed off! Also, the red gravel you drove on is called red cinder rock and "yes" it's volcanic. You drove up on a red cinder cone that was used as a borrow pit.
I agree about the A6 site. No one should drive over a memorial. Personally I didn’t know how it was setup all I heard was there was a crash site that you could drive up to. I don’t think anyone wants to drive over it. I thought maybe there was a designated place to pull up next to it idk. When I Saw story til now it didn’t look like he drove over anything but maybe I missed it. As far as our mud hole on BLM land we discussed backing up but it was too risky in that spot so we did what we had to do unfortunately. I don’t know what else to say. I mean I hear you. But if it comes down to it, going around and getting through safely is what I’m going to choose every time. I’m sure you would do the same. But don’t get me wrong I fully understand.
I will however make it a point to let my followers know that this issue is very important and not to be taken lightly. That yes, things happen and there can be a number of variables. But if you can absolutely help it do your best to remain on trail and preserve what we have.
Question for you. Since I only made it to the sign at the bottom of the hill I actually didn’t see where that trail did end. Story til now actually went off the trail after that ended to reach the site?
