that oily dust will sometimes save a machine from corrosion. Once you clean it up it will be better looking underneath it all than it would have been without the schmootz protecting it.
I think you're right. I quickly brushed the worst of the filth off of this & it does look like it will clean up quite nicely with a bit more work.
