  • DISCLAMER: Please don't attempt fasting without checking with your physician. Especially if you have a medical history or a history of an eating disorder. Your health is more important then following a random girl on youtube ❤️ This video is based on my personal experience, fasting might not be a good fit for everyone.
    I'm back to one meal a day fasting and it feels great! I'm hoping to adopt fasting as a lifestyle to curb my sugar addiction, binge eating, and reach a higher level of fitness. I'm taking it week by week and seeing where it goes. Thanks for joining me.

    You're so inpriring! I am getting back into fasting too, and I know what you mean about the habits and triggers! I find that when I get stressed or upset at work, I want to turn to food for comfort. Its so interesting how fasting really teaches you about hunger and your mental relationship with food.
    What if you got a plain, unsweetened green tea from Starbucks? That way you could still have a "treat" but something that won't interrupt your fast?
    Super excited to see your progress, congrats on getting back to it!

    • @theadventuresofrah

      Yes, I love things that force me to take a step back and examine my mindless behavior. . and fasting has done just that. It really opened my eyes to my stress coping mechanisms and how to change them. I know it's going to be a long haul to unlearn these behaviors but I'm happy I now recognize them. The plain green tea from starbucks is a great idea, I'll have it as backup. :)

    I've been doing OMAD since beginning of Aug 2020..i didnt do it for weight loss..more for spirituality..i lost 5kg and I'm feeling really great so this is my lifestyle now. I do have a small smoothie in the morning and maybe snack.on very minimal fruit or raw/roasted nuts in the evening if I really need it. Lunch is my main meal and I eat whatever and how much I want. I'm vegan and very health conscious so make sure I eat lots of fruit and veg etc..im eating less crap and even more healthier. I've cut out sugar too and maybe have a little treat on the weekend. We don't realise how much crap we can eat in just 7 days!

      This is so awesome! I started it for weight loss but I loved all the other benefits that came with it so I'm sticking to it to see how it goes. I feel like my relationship with food has gotten so much better and it helps me cut out a lot on my emotional eating throughout the day. I'm mostly plant-based as well but I still have a long way to go to cut out the processed food and sugary foods I'm addicted too. I might adopt a longer eating window and add a smoothie or smaller meal in the future depending on how it all goes.

    If you do IF after being in ketosis by following a healthy Keto diet you really aren’t hungry anymore during your fasting window. Doing IF while still being carb addicted seems like a set up for suffering, and failure. I’ve been fat adapted and doing OMAD for over 2 years and I’ve been constantly in ketosis the whole time. It’s feels great to not be addicted to sugar. Such a feeling of freedom. Making sure you get enough potassium and magnesium by taking electrolytes and sea salt as well as extra B vitamins helps get you through the transition phase. Good luck on your journey ❤️

    Ahhh....this was perfect because I kind of got off my IF because of a bit of stress....not too badly but because I have a few kilos to lose I don't want to waste time and just get better at being consistent. So this was perfect because I felt I had someone doing it with me . You look fabulous and thanks for the support

    Great job, I was doing two meal a day for about 2 month, and now I am doing one meal a day for just about a month. through this process, I lost 25 pounds. I do suggest eating healthy when you go into your feeding time, foods like, broccoli, kale, cauliflower and avocados with drizzle of olive oil and seas salt are amazing. Foods such as wild caught salmon, cods fish, Flounder and shrimp and great! strawberry, raspberry, and blueberry are amazing fruits to incorporate into your daily intake . Final suggestion, I would cut down as much carbs as possible for at least a month. :) GooooooD Luck!

      @@ItsShayWhite. It becomes easier after you cross the boundary of 2-3 weeks of fasting. The best tip is not to hang around food during your fast. I have lost 16 lbs in 2 months. Try to break your fast with a bone broth and then eat the big meal after 45 minutes. I am not craving for sugar anymore. Make sure to take some Multi vitamins too when you brake the fast. and Good luck and All the best to you...!!! keep on fasting...!!!

    6:06 From my personal experience, drinking coffee without sugar for a long term say a year has helped tremendously in cutting down my sugar intake to the point that I don’t crave them like I used to in the past…I only ate sugar in its natural form e.g. fruits, vegetables or rice (being Asian).

    Here is my favourite sweet treat: combine 1tsp:1tsp:1tsp honey, butter and pure unsweetened cocoa powder. When you crave chocolate, this is THE BEST. You just mix it in a small glass or on a plate, eat it with a spoon, lick it off of it and I swear it tastes like chocolate cake cream. It is very satisfying and not bad for you. Cause 1 teaspoon of honey is nothing compared to what we are used to consume. I've already lost 35 pounds in 5 months with no stress, enjoying my low carb high fat 2 meals a day diet. And this sweet treat helps really well. 😊👍

    Your story could be mine. I am also back to fasting after cheating from March to End of July. With work and the pandemic I got free food(healthcare professional!) and never said no to anything, went back to bad eating ,stopped fasting and didn't even train those months. I deliberately put on weight from Dec to Feb bc I actually went underweight with OMAd..and was fine in FEb. But by March? I overshot my weight gain and everything was thrown out the window. I am one month back into my fasting and eating that got me to my flat abs originally but the weight loss is much slower this time. One month in and I only lost 5 lbs (about 2 years ago I had one month where I lost 10 lbs). but at least it's not a gain. So I march on and keep doing this. When i hit my goal I need to remember this part of my journey... and not ever let myself relapse again. soon I hope to share my own vid. I am embarrased and applaud your bravery. I look so different than my profile pic in just a few short months..so different. If I didn't fully grasp that sugar is poison, my visceral fat reminds me of the damage I did to myself. I hope soon to be brave like you are and post my own vid. Cannot wait to keep following you. BAck to work where I shall say no to the breakroom snacks!

    • @theadventuresofrah
      @theadventuresofrah  4 года назад +1

      Hey! It’s okay to have a setback ( god knows I’ve had plenty) it’s nothing to be embarrassed about because it’s all part of the process. Whenever I have a setback like that I just remind myself that I’m trying to unlearn habits and systems that are 20+ years in the making and that takes times. As for slow wright loss . . . I think slow and steady is the best. After I lost the initial 10 pounds I spent a year maintaining that loss to build up the habits. It’s true that I wanted to lose more and do workouts and get fitter and stronger but I felt that would all come in time (and I think it is). I believe a slow fitness journey leads to life long results. Just keep going! 💕
      Ps. and those break room snacks are sooo dangerous lol 😩

      @@theadventuresofrah I'm still very obese but down 40kg in one year (88lbs), starting weight was 450lbs. I make sure to eat enough (1500kcals+) during the meal and to reduce carbs as they make me hungry very soon after again. Drinking lots of soda stream water and black espresso during the days. Started biking 3 months ago mainly for mental reasons and just go get fitter, doesn't really increase weight loss. It's all about eating/dietary, less about training/sports. Recent blood work was awesome (best results I've ever had in the last 15 years) but we didn't check for nutrient deficits . That said besides all my positive experience I don't recommend it for non-very-obese people, it's really a brutal change and requires strict commitment. Yess ABSOLUTELY! I urge everyone to do their own research and not just follow random RUclipsrs blindly. While I believe fasting to have many benefits. . .we don't have enough human studies for scientific evidence. There may also be many side effects we may not know about. I've seen the study on the kisspeptin levels. It was a mice study where they were fed every second day (so longer fast) for 12 weeks (10 years human time) and it disrupted their reproductive cycle. It's hard to say what this means for humans but it could possibly have the same effect on women. As for me . . .I'm keeping an eye on the research as well as tracking my vitals, keeping up with my bloodwork, tracking my menstrual cycle, as well as mood and energy levels ( I love data lol). If I notice a downward trend, I will stop with the OMAD and try a longer eating window.

    Maybe after doing one meal per day for a while your body gains more visceral fat as it thinks you have been in a famine. (Due to infequent and insufficient food). Therefore when food increases and you meet your daily requirements it will first go to your essential organs.
    This is why it didnt work for you long term last time.
    I know this is not what you want to hear but from an outside perspective. (Also I dont even think you should be aiming to lose weight. Why not aim for gaining health???

    • @theadventuresofrah
      @theadventuresofrah  4 года назад +1

      Hey Anna, I'm not in a "starvation mode" where I store fat because my body is in "famine". In fact there is a lot of evidence that that is a myth. Regardless, it has not been my experience. When I first did my OMAD challenge for 30 days over a year and a half ago I was in the overweight range with 5 inches more around my waist. Since I've lost that, I've maintained it by for this past year and a half by fasting OMAD 2-3 times a week and eating "regularly". . .until the pandemic hit and job stress and depression got me and I stopped fasting regularly. But even then I still maintained my loss from my first 30 day challenge and lessened my binge eating.
      More importantly I meet my daily requirement daily because I eat everyday. (well I I try my best to 😅) My "meal" is not a small one, it's hearty and filling and I'm learning to make sure I get all my nutrition and calories in. I understand how it looks from an outside perspective so I appreciate the comment. I know this is not for everyone just like "just eat 3 healthy meals a day and excercise duhh" is not for me haha.
      I AM aiming for health. I'm aiming for a healthy relationship with food and breaking my addictions. I'm aiming for eating for sustenance and to enjoy food instead of for emotional fulfillment and stress coping. I also think there is nothing wrong with wanting to lose weight or wanting to gain weight. I love my body and I've learn to appreciate it for what it does for me.

Like I had yesterday 2 whole anabolic pizzas with a Swiss roll, veggie taco, chicken and veggie taco, 2 yogurts, a biscuit, a couple of mini marshmallows. And I’m still losing weight. I’ve lost 5lbs already. And I only ate like 1900 calories. BECAUSE I replace my foods with lower calorie ingredients. I’m 138lbs now. I’m not even working out rn because of finals. And I’m still losing weight.
