  • This is the BMW C650 GT Highline Maxi Scooter.
    I only had a short ride just to see what it was like as I have never riden a scooter before and it seems pretty nice.
    Just bear in mind this is not a review its just a video about the Scooter.

      Isn't that true. From the moment i started test riding a c650 sport i started giggling in my helmet like a lunatic. New generation maxi scooters made me question why i clutch. Try one and i bet it will make you too...

    I also think its an amazing scoot, in fact its more of a small tourer motorcycle just what I was looking for. so after an hour's test ride last week I ordered a new one, only 3weeks to wait. And I'm only 65 !!!!!

    Nice review. I bought one last month. I live in Louisiana and have had all manners of bikes in past. I use it for touring and it's great. Kind of a mini Goldwing that costs less and smaller. Get you some of that!

    Thanks for the lovely review. I have a 2006 Honda Silverwing with 100 KM on it. Considering this for my next one.
    I like big scooters like this for several reasons.
    1. Goes fast enough with acceleration for any traffic situation.
    2. Protects the legs if you have to lay the bike down in an accident. (had to twice, legs were 100% fine after each wreck)
    3. Can fit two helmets or 4-5 grocery bags / laptops for commuting.
    4. Has great wind protection on cold days.

    I like this scooter. Okay its not a badass motorcycle or a Supersport etc. But its great for urban mobility and commuting. Its comfy and has all the comfort features you described. Try commuting on a Fireblade in Autumn or winter. I commute on a Moto Guzzi Stelvio at the moment. But seriously are considdering a Maxi scooter for doing my 105 mile a day commute. Buying a Maxi scooter as a workhorse and a nice motorcycle beside the Maxi to ride in the weekend.

    birdoneword, can i just say something. Scooters don't have gears xD he has two wheels linked by a belt where the two wheel alternate between ratios. Its called a CVT (Continuously variable transmission) ;) So the fact that you can't feel any gear changes is because it has no gears! xD They're just alternating ratios! ;)

  • @jamiebales8394
    @jamiebales8394 8 лет назад

    There shouldn't be engine braking because they have a centrifugal clutch. So when you let off, the rear wheel is then disconnected from the transmission. I think that's how it works anyway.

    • @birdoneword
      @birdoneword  8 лет назад

      I know what you mean. By engine braking I meant when I came off the throttle. So it's not technically engine braking like on a normal bike but I know what I meant 👍🏻.

      500 in a day NO PROBLEM! I've Doon 500 miles 2 up in a day this winter in Florida. Mostly interstate, I95, Fla turnpike, I75.
      Have done several 100-250 mile days on back highways, again 2 up. And only one time got a number butt, on a 1000 mile day solo. This is as comfortable as a Goldwing.
      While it doesn't have a stereo, I use a Sena so have tunes, GPS, and two way com built right into my helmet.

      birdoneword when you are at 70mph is it fairly relaxed rpm wise? Reason I’m asking is I’m considering one for long distance touring.

    • @birdoneword
      @birdoneword  3 года назад +1

      Rolling Stone I think it would make an ideal tourer and in fact that’s why most people do buys these as they are too big for just commuting. I’m sure the GT part means ‘grand tourer’. I think it would be a great choice but I’d do ya homework and see about a test ride.

    Think engine made by Kymco. Kawasaki J125 and J300 scooters use Kymco engines sVe on R&D

      I think you might be on to something.

    • @gpecaut1
      @gpecaut1 6 лет назад

      Yup, and if you want more power, try the Kymco MyRoad 700cc version of this engine. However the BMW has more goodies, handles better, due to a much better suspension, lower lean capability, and fantastic tires. Kymco has been knocking out great engines for years now. And some of their 400-700cc scooers are pretty darn good while costing less.

      Have both. The BMW out handles the Burg. Price is very close. The only thing my Burg is better about is it's electronic cruise control. And as soon as the BMW comes off warranty it will have it too.
      To get the most for your money look at the Honda Silverwing too. Zippier than the Burg, easier to work on than either the Burg or BMW. Easier on fuel than the other two too. Use the money you saved to add the goodies you want. IE heated grips, heated seat, taller or adjustable windshield, top box, etc.
      Best upgrade for any scooter or motorcycle is a SENA. Gives you two way com. Links to your phone for music and GPS.

      Fat arsed bathtub. Classic description lol

    • @gpecaut1
      @gpecaut1 6 лет назад +1

      Fat arsed bathtub! I've kept with any 600 sport bike, leaves Harley's in the dust. No problem cruising at 120 mph, 2 up. Lots of storage under the seat, plus I added a top box. Seats have controllable settings, independent front and rear and they work great. Hand grips are heated too. Again the heat is adjustable from nice on bare hands on a cool day to warm through your gloves in sub freezing temps. I am only 5'6" and with the windshield up get no buffeting. The little wings under the windshield help keep you dryer in a rain and warmer on a cold day.
      Yes it ain't cheap. But it is about the same price as the Burgman 650 E. But it gets up and goes faster than the Burgman and cut the corners faster, probably due to the better tires, suspension, and lower lean capability. Has all the electronic goodies except electronic cruise control. As soon as it comes off warranty I will add that. Love this scooter, and I have several motorcycles too. Still for comfort it beats my Triumph ST or my Yamaha VStar. Definitely capable of cross country touring, even 2 up.
      Think of it as a mini Goldwing.

    • @birdoneword
      @birdoneword  8 лет назад

      +Anthony Guest unfortunately for BMW a lot of people just see them as 'expensive' but when you ride the bikes and see the after sale support you get you then realise it's not that bad. Having said that, they would sell more if they were on 0% with a deposit contribution to make them competitive.

    • @gpecaut1
      @gpecaut1 6 лет назад

      The Honda is excellent. Almost as zippy. You won't see or feel a difference until you ride two up. Honda actually has a few inches larger trunk. It's easy to add heated seats and heated grips to the Honda. Giving has a nice adjustable windshield for the Silverwing, or the taller and wider tour windshield.
