One of the things I love most about this OVA is the fact that they used the same music as the original anime--but in the true spirit of it, Noriyuki Asakura reinvented his classic masterpieces and gave them a new soul and sound. They're just as wonderful to listen to as the originals.
I agree. Especially _Ishin Tenpuku Keikaku & Shinnen_ is stunningly beautiful to listen to. It's a shame that the OVAs are largely meh along with a " _OHGOD_ " moment when Kenshin crack's Shishio's head open like an egg.
hold on a minute ive never heard these!!! they sure sound promising. i was about to press post and go for a coffee when i heard the 9:45 and i was like :O My god i just ditched my friend to listen to this :)
Neither am I. The only OVAS that I know are the one about the origin of his scar and the one, not canonic, showing Kenshin and Kaorou married with a son. Also there is a movie, but no one has this OST.
Its not bad, its just different. This soundtrack is a lot more instrument heavy and has a way more traditional sound, I love the remake of the piece at 31:16 for example, it just sounds so much more artistic and samuraish than the original. Now I agree, the original soundtrack and kyoto arc are timeless, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy both. After all, the OVA didn't replace the original series, its just there if you want to see it.
It has a slightly different feel.Probably because of different arranger, even though the composer is the same one from the previous anime series (Noriyuki Asakura). I have to disagree with you, though. The soundtrack here is not really bad,all the contrary,in fact. These pieces are just as good as the original ones.
The soundtrack was good but this anime OVA was pretty lackluster. It was interesting to see the arc end much sooner though ( _and the giving of a splitting headache that made me go OH MY GOD, and I'm not that squeemish for blood_ ), but it all just felt like a quick cash grab so to say. It'd be much more interesting if he'd do what he said he'd want to do, which is to base a series around Kenshin's son who'd be as warmongering as Shishio if not more so, combined with knowing Kenshin's style. Now that'd be interesting. Personal favorite song of this soundtrack though: 34:49 That sad violin fits so well, and it was a good scene when it played as well.

OVA or arch? Because Kyoto history is an arch of the anime.
They literally combined it with Tenchu’s style.

Jajaja, tarde; pero se llama "Warrior's suit" compa.
This sucks! Ugh, they managed to ruin the original soundtrack!
Its not bad, its just different. This soundtrack is a lot more instrument heavy and has a way more traditional sound, I love the remake of the piece at 31:16 for example, it just sounds so much more artistic and samuraish than the original.

Welll. at least it´s still Asakura behind the compositions. It´s just a different sound, but I think it´s not that bad
The soundtrack was good but this anime OVA was pretty lackluster.
