      @@miked1869 Abrams did not do fine with it... You can think Mi:3 is a good stand alone movie but like all other JJ Abrams mystery box, "do what feels right"- movies it left the rest of the franchise in an awful place because he doesnt care about bigger picture. JJ Abrams setups for Mission Impossible were jettisoned to such a degree that MI:4 wasnt even called MI:4.:JJ Abrams obsession with retiring Tom Cruise turned Mission Impossible into a discount Jack Ryan show. And what was that ridiculous ending with Laurence Fishburne talking about The White House offering a job and talking about him quitting... Ghost Protocal fortunately just ignored the entire thing and Soft Rebooted the franchise.

    MI:7 is everything an action movie should be, high-stakes, high-octane, fast-paced, and kick-ass. This series gets better with every installment. Tom Cruise is trying to save the film industry, and it shows. Many shows and films in recent years have tended to deconstruct (i.e., ruin) the established protagonist, but we see Ethan Hunt at his best. Great cast and writing too. It's almost three hours long but it did *not* feel like it. Crowd-pleasing & entertaining. They know what the audience wants, and the hot streak continues. Part two should kick ass as well

  • @pduidesign

    Obviously this movie is great like all of the MI movies have been for so many years. But the part I like best is how they wrote strong, female characters like Grace that come off as likable. All of them are capable in their own right and the filmmakers didn’t make them strong by weakening the men or making them look incapable. Now compare that to the latest Indiana Jones film with Helena played (and most likely written by) PWB. Night and day. MI does is right. Lucasfilm does it wrong…yet again.

    Not only is Tom Cruise a great action star, but also Christopher McQuarrie is a fantastic director/writer.
    These 2 work so good together and that´s definitively a major factor on why this franchise is so successful.
    Oh and get this: McQuarrie liked working so much with Henry Cavill on the last M-I movie, that he went to WB/DC and pitched them a MoS sequel, complete with a script treatment and everything.
    And these imbeciles rejected it!!

      @@melvinch while technically I was thinking more about having Reeves get a role as the villain in a future MI film, I did have a small pitch about bringing in Cruise to the JW series for two films
      The first is a prequel to the original JW film, and Curise plays the role of the main target that John needs to eliminate during the “impossible mission” he was sent on to earn his freedom. This way Cruise isn’t downplayed in the role and we can get to see someone potentially on par with John in terms of skill.
      However, the end credits will show a hole where Cruise’s character was buried under a building came down on him. This would then lead into the 5(or 6th depending on how soon the next one comes out) film having Cruise’s character make himself known, which would mean that the original deal John made becomes null and void since he never completed the mission. (At the very least, he wants to complete it because friends are now targeted)

    This is my favorite review so far of MI7. This breakdown properly explains just how epic this movie is, and just how rare and special Tom Cruise and McQ really are as an actor and director combo. They did everything the hardest way possible, actually building a real train, using real steel, and welding it together, only to destroy it later. They didn't make a cardboard green screen train, they made a fully functional train. The budget of $290,000,000 was not reflected in computer systems, like the 100 computers used to reverse age Harrison Ford in Indian Jones (although that's a really amazing feat). In one statement: They deserve our money. I will absolutely pay for a ticket to this movie.

    I've been saying before seeing this film that this is M:I's finale, with Cruise putting a bow on his career. But after seeing MI:DRpt1, I'm beginning to wonder if Paramount begged Cruise to throw in some new blood to tantalize the thought of a continuing franchise? With Cruise/McQuarrie producing, I think they could pull it off. Gone would be the magnificent stunts Cruise puts to screen, but in the last few films they've made quite a compelling world to visit.

All the focus seems to have gone to Barbie and Oppenheimer. Two movies that didnt particularly resonate with me, although Oppenheimer was beautifully shot and great acting from RDJ + Cillian Murphy. But I digress, Tom Cruise is a phenomenal actor who does his own stunts, there's actually not a lot of actors like him anymore. Do we trust what we've heard about Scientology, as it's come from disgraced outlets and media people who have probably all been fired, or disappeared by now? Has anyone actually listened to what Cruise has to say about it, or have we just made assumptions based on disparaging News stories? I am not religious, but I'm not going to allow News outlets to tarnish Cruise's reputation, because it's unfair for people to judge him without any first hand knowledge of his religion. I actually have a book found at a junkstore, written by the founder, Ron Hubbard, about detoxing the body, to remove stored toxins by sweating and taking real Niacin. It's a very fascinating book, with absolutely zero political or religious information, it's purely a health book. And in Cruise's defense, he obviously understands health and maintaining the body.

      @Ritalie 10 месяцев назад +2

      Top Gun Maverick, is one of the top 5 best Hollywood films of all time, from any genre. Reflecting back on it, it was the cast and the way it ended, as well as the lack of unnecessary CGI, that made one of the all time greats. They had to completely invent new methods of filming, and it took many tests and trial flights to figure it out. But the best part of the movie is what it did differently, not killing the characters, and by having a beautiful heartfelt ending, instead of using an expected brooding surge of death for "shock factor." Maverick was an uplifting masterpiece, and that is something Hollywood is absolutely not known for.

    Tom Cruise is getting up there in age, and hes not a huge guy. However, that actually works in his favor in many fight scenes. Look at his fighting style, he can actually go 95% on his punches against the stuntmen. As they're 30 something tough guys, they can most likely handle his punches, but it makes for incredibly realistic looking fights. Especially when you compare it to movies where they cut away during the punch, or use perspective to avoid contact. Cruise can actually load up a serious punch, and the stuntman will make it real.
