Even I'm asking you as a woman and explaining this to you within the boundaries of our country. Unfortunately, rapes happen everyday in every state of our country, then why highlight rape cases only from UP and ignore rape cases from other states?
In the recent Kolkata case, my Bengali friends are literally commenting on our FB posts, "please don't highlight this case, it ruins image of our state." I have heard similar comments whenever we highlight rape cases from other states whenever I post rape cases from other states.
So, this video is no different. It's about hypocrisy. If you are saintly, tell me why highlight rape cases only from UP just because it's a political hub, & completely ignore rape victims from other states?
Just like you are asking the above gentleman, did you ever bother to read local news from every state & see that rapes happen everyday in all across India, but ya racism towards north in more important than safety of women for other states who don't want to "ruin image" of their state and hide crimes in their own state.

Not true. Although rape is a huge crime, it doesn't get that much media attention in the West and in Europe, Infact most cases are not even registered. Here in India since people are culturally very sensitive, it becomes a huge issue India wide and gets huge media coverage for weeks and even months. We have had so many Women leaders in our country, CMs and even PM and President. In the West they still have not got one women leader yet, that shows the level of male domination in the West. The main reason behind Indian chaotic lifestyle is because, India being a very old country doesn't have planned townships and cities, The western countries have only planned cities and towns. They allocate only a certain number of households with all necessary security that meets the security standards and allow people to live only to that limit. They always have a strict police to people ratio etc. We have none of those and still have a much lesser rape count compared to their countries. Now that's purely a culture achievement we have. That being said, every type of crime is slowly on the rise in the recent years, due to all the mixed culture. We need to have stringent laws to tackle these newer issues.

But as you have yourself said it is legal in their country, and therefore women are doing that by individual choice. How can you compare this with gang rapes, violence against women, dowry deaths, etc. that take place in India. Are you genuinely saying the women are wanting to be gang-raped and burnt to death for not paying in dowry in India, by choice?
It is precisely because of people with your kind of attitude that India remains such a backward & primitive country. Can you also explain why there is such a vast difference between North India and the other parts of India. Why do all these gang rapes, dowry deaths, etc. mostly happen only in North India? Why are women in India treated so much better in other regions such as South India and North East India? Why is your capital city Delhi called the Rape Capital of the world by everybody? There has to be a reason.

Germany has a significantly higher rape rate per capita compared to India. According to NationMaster, Germany's rape rate stands at 9.4 incidents per 100,000 citizens, ranking 24th globally ¹. In contrast, India's rape rate is 1.8 incidents per 100,000 citizens, which is five times lower than Germany's rate ¹.
It's essential to note that India has been characterized as one of the countries with the lowest per capita rates of rape. However, the National Crime Records Bureau reported 31,677 rape cases in 2021, with Rajasthan recording the highest number of rapes among Indian states ².
      *Rape Rates Comparison:*
      - _Germany:_ 9.4 incidents per 100,000 citizens ¹
      - _India:_ 1.8 incidents per 100,000 citizens ¹
Keep in mind that rape rates can vary significantly across different regions within a country. For instance, in India, Rajasthan had the highest rape rate, while Nagaland, Tamil Nadu, and Bihar had the lowest rates.
That said, yeah India needs to improve law enforcement sector, but let's not make it like Only India has this problem.

@@rkdash2006 Not really. Not in the case of at least 95% "educated" women. That is obviously not a. Negligible number. That is the reality, not ideal case. Boys should be taught manners, should be raised as human beings who respect every other human being, valuing their opinions, acknowledging talent, developing equal skills, sharing household chores(very important) etc. That is a huge responsibility on evey parent in every household, regardless of the social, economic class or differences.
As long as parents value boys more, instilling in them a sense of superiority from a young age, no effort in sending girls to school make any significant difference.
In todays scenario, educated women have to take extra burden of taking care of family and earning. It affects their career performance also.

I liked about Mr. Jaishankar ji is that he did not dodge the question and also he admitted that yeah we have problems. Accepting that we have issues, is the first step towards solving it. Although I think he dodged women safety in the answer but he rightly said its due to centuries of oppression, habits and mindset which is the real issue and this can not be changed suddenly but punishment for rape is not proportionate with the crime in India. It's not powerful enough to stop the incidences.

Not only women but men are also unsafe in India because of Gender biased law.Law should be gender neutral for everyone whether it's men or women or Transgender. There are lots of cases in India where women are misutilising the law against men like false dowry cases, false sexual harrasment cases, false domestic violence cases, false rape cases, extortion of money in the name of alimony.Where women are self independent financially still she is extorting money from her husband.Theae are the issue that need to be resolved by bringing Gender Neutral law.

Every body should understand, in the Europe prostitution is legalised and free sex is very common but in India the social structure is diffferent, prostitution and free sex is restricted. Further 140 crore population had complex problems. The foreign media also making bad propaganda.

For once, I appreciate the Western journalist for being respectful while asking the question. Her tone and manners are very respectful. It shows that she genuinely cares about the issue rather than just using the issue to perpetuate racial stereotypes. Equally, Jaishankar acknowledged the problems in India and empathized with her concern. The tone and demeanour often matters too, not just the substance when you ask someone a question. BBC could never get such an answer because they are always looking for a fight to act like some crusaders.

ntg abt that question was respectful. it was a propaganda to set a narrative. no one asks such question to any other diplomat. literally no one. and this is despite us uk france germany having 10-100x more rapes than india.

Smriti Irani worked really hard when she was Education Minister of India for rural girls. Due to her efforts we have more rural girls in Schools than boys, which in reality was other way around. Main issue for girls not going to school was not having Toilet, especially for girls who started having periods. Such small thing no government of India never paid attention. Smriti, even doing great work at ground level, she was PR nightmare for BJP due to trolling and she was removed from her ministry.

In people who enrol in medical colleges I find in India girls dominate boys by 4:1 ratio. It's hard to find boys in excess of 20%.This trend is there for past 8-9 years now.
This will reflect in society as the doctors post graduate.
Also in food and cosmetics industry (I know of one Indian very large MNC having its office in Peenya Bangalore having more than 90 % girls employed.
Soon men will have to fight for equal share in society.

    R. Stastics in India is 1.8/100,000.
Correcting for under-reporting, as per NCRB data which projects it at 71%, it gives us around 7/100,000
So, even after correction for under-reporting taking higher side of the mark (i would argue it would he nearer to 50%), not correcting under-reporting for other Nations & no taking into account the Ms. problem (which is rampant in Europe as well), we are still safer than 95% of the Nations which have data of 15-200/100,000.
So, all this accuation against India is merely media narrative.
