The Bromford that you were brought up in is recent. Up until the 1970s there was little there. I was brought up in Pype Hayes, and I went to Saltley Grammar School, so I walked back and forth to school across the Bromford area. There was Bromford Bridge station, which served the race course, which is no longer there. The name "Bromford" comes from the ford which existed across the river before the bridge was built. Tyburn Road is recent. The area around where the Navigation Pub is now used to be known as Bromyard.
Lived on the Bromford Bridge Estate when i was a kid from about 1968 - 1972. Went to the Firs infant and junior schools and have great memories back then. Used to live on Ayala Croft and remember riding my mk2 Chopper down the gully behind the house with my best mate Steve Taylor. Back then it was safe to play footy on the grass vergies on the main road, used to throw my action man from the tower block opposite (roof) lol. Be great to meet up with mates from back then, wonder where they are now? Names like Gregory Peck, Steven And Sharon Kelly, Roy Bricknal..... There was a vicar called John March who lived next door, think he has passed away now but he was a great bloke.

I went to hodge hill school back in the day. personally i say the bromford is okay place but a lot of people run it down. Im just posting to show my thoughts lol as no comments have been put up yet lol
i was born on the bromford and my mom and dad use to run the sadlle and boot pub thats what it was called when i was living there and lived there for years but my parents moved out in 1999 to wolverhampton and back then the place was run down i still have family around there and they are always saying how bad it is now with thugs and crime its a shame that people would want to do that to there own area and run it down when you all should be pulling together and improving the place

you may wish to go down the canal under the M6 again mate , i have 59 pieces there now

Lived on bromford for 10 years , only 13 but the only good thing about it is the skating community nuff said
Was raised on Bromford from 96 til I left in 2010 miss that area so much had so many good memories on that estate
