I have a 2017 version in wine red. I have used it it for a few mods. I swapped pickups, added a piezo, added an extra switch to switch the piezo in and out. I can’t believe how smooth the fret ends are. The neck feels better than 75% or more of my other guitars.
These things sound surprisingly good for what they are! If I closed my eyes I would think you're playing a much more expensive guitar. Cheap guitars aren't what they used to be. Epiphone has really stepped up their game lately with the "inspired by Gibson" series.
I just bought one mate and it plays better than I ever thought it would. I love the action. This is going to be my "Go To" guitar for most of my projects. Thanks for a great intro and demo bruh !
They play really well. I had the Junior version of this (one humbucker) and gave it to a friend’s son when he started learning. But it played great stayed in tune and sounded like a Les Paul should.
I've had one of these in black for a couple months, great little things. Amazing punk/pop punk powerhouses. For £50 it's a damn great bargain, perfect for a mod project or as a beater guitar.
Great demo and review! I love this little guitar - I bought one directly from Epiphone for $238. Epiphone states on its website that this guitar is their best-selling guitar, of all of their models. The only mod I made is to replace the tuners with Grover locking tuners. Now this guitar is a beast!
A couple of my mates have these. Infact one of them just bought the same one as you have here, same colour. Very good guitars. I wouldn't mind a dark brown one. I have an Epiphone Les Paul special with the TV yellow paint job. Really good sounding pickups on them. P90 types.
Just picked up a 2014 in Black today for $80 at a pawn shop. Haven't tried it yet but it's pretty sweet looking! And that bridge pickup on yours sounded pretty hot!
Nice get, you got a really good deal. I recently paid almost 3x that at a mom and pop shop here in the US for a 2014 Les Paul Special ll Plus Top trans blueburst model in near mint condition. Love the simplicity of the controls, the flat top and the light weight. Was specifically looking for an older pre-CITES one to get the rosewood fingerboard and gloss finish. Pre-CITES Epiphone Specials are inexpensive guitars but they are not cheap if you know what I mean.
I had one of these guitars many years ago, it was my first electric. I remember the sound of it all too well. Great value for what it is if you want to do minor upgrades.
I just played one the other day for the second time. It confirmed what I initially thought. The neck and action are perfect for my hands. I tried other guitars up to 500 dollars and none felt snug to my hands. The strumming was silky smooth. I don't really care about pick ups as much as neck feel. This one took me by surprise and it was used...
I just bought kind of an odd version of the special, it’s made in 2006 and it’s the GT model. It has a fender style bridge and is a through body. But everything else is an epiphany special II. It’s really cool!
I found one and bought one, £80...2013..serial number. Year Always played a acoustic guitars, but getting older and need to stave off Arthritic fingers and wrists, it does help to do the job, and because you are nearer to the guitar being flat..it helps a lot, and thanks for the demo.
Very nice. I'd never buy a real gibson but the epiphones are great. I think gibson bought kramer and their version of the baretta special is the best guitar I've bought under 300. Might check that one out it's a screamer.
I have this guitar in gloss black polished frets with 2000 grit paper set intonation new dadario 08s sounds very good for an inexpensive guitar plays great just needs better tuners next
Very Cool Demo/Review Thankyou. Awesome Playing. Have been dreaming of the budget friendly Epiphone Les Pauls lately, thinking I should get one. This video was very helpful and interesting Thankyou. Cheers
Thank you very much glad you enjoyed the video, definitely gets the approval from me 💯 awesome pickups and a great playing neck especially for the lead stuff
Nice getting one with a real rosewood fretboard. Only downside is the tuners. Somewhere there must be warehouses of those cheap tuners because they still keep turning up on guitars. Nice solo sure sounds good when you’re bending strings.
@@theguitarmanifesto what’s a good plug n play tuner replacement that I could add without drilling and modding the body? Just got a newer version special ii player pack in sunburst and the amp is obviously not great but it sounds a little rattling. I’ve heard it need’s a truss adjustment or a new nut. What would be easier for a beginner to fix?
I bought the cherry sunburst used for $89. Best money buy in a long time. I own nice gibsons and fenders but this is so much fun to play and the p/u s are hot!
My daughter just bought one at an estate sale for $10. I’ll get it playing right, gig with it then give it to her daughter when she gets a little older.
I like mine okay. For the price I couldn't ask for a better guitar. I do plan on changing out the pickups and tuning pegs. The biggest complaint I have is how easily it goes out of tune.
i love the guitar right id have this as my 2nd signature modal guitar with my stage name on from and custom made back plate for les paul guitars to be honest i love the middle pos and treb they really dig in cant wait to have this guitar
Nice I've had a few Epis back in the day, wish I still had them, I've always wanted an Epiphone Frontier acoustic or an Epi Excellente acoustic.... Something about those 2 acoustics that do it for me.... Oh or a Texan but its gotta be in the antique finish lol
@@theguitarmanifesto Nice. I messaged the guy to buy it and it had sold. I ended up paying a bit more but getting a BC Rich Warlock and I absolutely love it. It's plays the best out of all my guitars. Even the far more expensive ones. Which is crazy as it only cost me £380.
This was my second guitar! Exact cherry burst color. It was fine, no problems with anything. Except for one thing - i hated it, cause i wanted a TELE :D Sometimes im thinking of getting one used, but can't find right color. Too many black ones
@@theguitarmanifesto guitar center and sweetwater have them new. Maybe not in that color. I bought mine last year. I was at guitar center last week and they still had them. Black or sunburst for colors. I like mine, it has been great.
@@theguitarmanifesto I'm across the pond in Buffalo NY. They are popular here so Epiphone keeps the shelves stocked. They are cheap as far as guitars go. They're great for hobby guitar players who are too broke to spend thousands on a gibson.
bought one of these 20 years ago. it was an OK buy at the time, but no longer makes sense in a world where harley benton exists. you can pay half as much for a HB and get an infinitely better guitar.

They're very cool, to be fair I had some awesome epiphones in the late 90s
I just bought one today, a sunburst. In America, $129. I have not even tuned it yet. I have done my research and I believe this is a quality guitar.
Awesome guitars dude 😎
