    Notice how he said he was embarrassed and not ashamed? Embarrassment is a social construct while shame comes from one's conscience. In other words he only feels bad about it because other people judge him poorly.

      To be fair, shame also comes sometimes from societal judgement and can even be misplaced. BUT, the point still stands in that embarrassment is PURELY from how you're viewed by other people while shame is what he'd be feeling if he did feel any actual regret.

    Funny enough, Boogie/Tebo here was on iCarly. He wasn’t a lead character at all. He didn’t bring this up at all when Dan failed to talk about the two black actors who spoke on their negative experience. Dan straight up lied saying EVERY show had a lead black actor, because no iCarly did not. Neither did Drake and Josh. The black actors in those shows worked at The movie theater and the smoothie shop. They were not lead characters. We saw them once in a while.

    Dan’s apology was BS. He’s trying to save his arse. To have him interviewed by a blk man who worked with him was on purpose.
    A proper apology would’ve been to reach out to everyone but he won’t do that because he is a victim now 🙄
    He created a toxic work environment & is being exposed.

  • @crissyjayfae
    @crissyjayfae 5 месяцев назад

    The way he says “You know me” as well as “a lot of people would want to work with me again” as well as having Tebo say “you’ve had a lot of success over the years” these are all buffers for him about to not answer the question or give any real acknowledgment to the specific allegations.
    And it’s like he didn’t watch the full doc because he says “IF anyone had said anything” but in Quiet on Set they talk about the times they did say something and he would literally yell at them, pressure them and make them do it anyway!

    I was in rehab with Dan's sister whom i will keep private to protect her. In rehab she was there a month and ended up flirting, cuddling and daring more than five men. Although discouraged, she ignored the rules. She was beautiful, petite and comical. When she explained who her brother was i simply thought, know wonder you may be struggling. Hers was cocaine, and heroin. I remember leaving treatment and thought to myself she will be back. Just by watching her sexual behavior, even flirtatious with women if she got her way. I couldn't believe all the men she held hands with, cuddled with until caught and the females she took advantage of because they adored her pretty face, fake shyness, and humor. Even i myself found myself chuckling at her. Please know that i bring this up because it just dawned on me to do the math, study what i witnessed and her family visits were kinda like (I'm a star) more like her brother. So we did bond prior to me realizing who Dan was, she was indeed already an entertainer and used it to her benefit. Im still in recovery and curious how she's doing today. I may do some probing. That's my story. My husband is a touring musician so for me, its hard to find time to further investigate, and how would it help anyone anyway? I pray she rose above the neglect, or whatever it is that burdened her heart and who got her hooked on drugs??? Thank you for exploiting these leaches and sometimes it hits close to home! 😢🤔😵‍💫🤨🤡🤬🙏🏼✌🏻

      @@Koley411 There are always going to be jokes in kids shows that deliberately go way over the kids heads. No kid will know what the joke in Rocko's Modern Life is until they're much older. These, when done correctly and tactfully, will get the parents watching the show with their children to laugh and enjoy the show more, and do no harm to the children watching. Rocko's was fine because it was a joke made by adults for adults with only adults involved in making it, deliberately tame enough to not lose the children for too long. The problem with the "jokes" that Dan made was they were sexual jokes made using child actors. Their main purpose was gratifying content for Dan with enough plausible deniability to make it onto air.

    A very important point needs to be made. Nickelodeon has been getting a ton of blowback over these revelations, all of it deserved. But this isn't a Nickelodeon problem, it's an industry problem. As long as young kids desperate for stardom are in the media industry, it'll be so easy for adults to abuse/manipulate/take advantage of them that serious oversight and vigilance are going to be required to protect them. Without major reforms in how the industry operates, nothing's going to stop the next Dan Schneider from wrecking lives.

Regardless of cultural differences in what “a childhood” looks like, humans all have basically the same developmental stages where we move through time and do all the physical chemical stuff, like, pretty damn sure those kids from the past were in fact literally just kids.

      true. Before I was like "I don't like Miley. I don't like Ariana" and while yes they still have accountability over their actions... a lot of them have trauma that they have not fully dealt with yet. Yeah some of them have "f you money" and can get therapy for these things, but it's like... it shouldn't have happened in the first place. It's like having a shirt and it getting stained. Of course you can get a stain remover or buy a new one, but that's extra steps to something that could've simply not happened if things were better. In this case it's not just accidentally spilling something on yourself, but the neglect of adults in the room and of course the awful audacity of the predators doing these actions.
      I still don't like many celebrities because some actions, while correlated with trauma are still awful and any child can tell you it's wrong even if you have a troubled past (plus my opinion is my opinion. Ariana isn't losing on millions because one unemployed person dislikes her). But I wish them all the best with healing.

    I'm a former child actor. Older than these kids, I wasn't on Nickelodeon, but I can tell you this abuse started with the very first child actor Jackie Coogan, and has gone through pretty much all of us for over a hundred years ago down to today. I didn't want to be an actor, and repeatedly told people that, and they didn't care. Also, I WILL criticise Dan -- his solution is to make it clear to children that they might be working around predators and will possibly be assaulted, are the fine with that? Just sign the dotted line. I have a huge problem with his closing statement.

You will be the but of all the jokes with no guarantee they will do anything else or put you in anything worthwhile. I cried so much bc I couldn't do it without my families approval. But now after seeing some of the articles related to Schneider and the Quiet On Set docuseries I now view scenes like the toe archery bit as just unnerving and gross. Sure, I did enjoy the shows growing up, enjoyed and still like certain stand out moments and the songs were bops but even then it's a bit tough separating the art from the artist in this case when said artist has a disturbing foot obsession and is that volatile towards other crew members and child stars.

    Regarding the "people could have spoke up with jokes," that's very hard to argue with children's shows of the era. Animaniacs, Ren and Stimpy, and Rocco's Modern Life writers would basically complete to see what they could get past the censors, and is a large reason why those cartoons are still enjoyable for adults all these years later. One of those shows said "to get a joke you want in, make a joke that's so inappropriate and so when it gets rejected you can propose the joke you actually want."
    Key word, cartoon, animation, work done 100% by adults, no children were harmed in the making of this program. How many times were there jokes that were "10 steps to far" to be "replaced" with jokes "1 step too far (that was the original joke)?" Chances are, a lot.

    And like every abuser that wants to appear benign or blameless, they say *a)*my bosses didn't object and had final authority; *b)* no one stopped me; I didn't think at the time I was doing anything wrong;

      This. Also what I feel for people who bring up age of consent laws. The social constructs of laws should not have any impact on it being incredibly abnormal and disturbing to be s3xually attracted to *_children._*
      I was a Nick era kid, and that “well the law said so it’s fine to depict create and perpetrate this predatory material shrugs that means it’s fine” was _everywhere_ in fanfiction culture in the 2010s. There are so many things so many of us were exposed to as kids that are not okay and were never okay. Because kids grow up and learn that they fundamentally can’t comprehend predation against children as anything but apocalyptic violence against another human being, that can only elicit whatever personal version of divine fury against the perpetrators.

      But I find it awful that Will and Rider spent the entire podcast trying to make it sound like they were the victims and not even apologising for writing the letter. Danielle helped them a lot by insisting they were groomed, making it sound like they were kids when all this happened.
      Rider was 24. Will was 28 years old. They knew it was involving a child. They sat in that court room and looked that boy in the eyes and still said nothing. I find that really gross that they didn't take accountability and apologise, and just made excuses instead.
      I find it even worse that a few days later they're like 'hey we are thinking of making a documentary about our show!' knowing that it would push the articles about them writing letters down further because news tends to show what is most recent. Classic techniques to escape accountability and jump over the fence to change the topic before anyone realises it.

      @@ArdenBijou Yeah them doing that was like 'oh, okay. So you're just trash people. got it.' And three days later they're making announcements that they want to do a documentary on the show? Come on. We know what you're doing. You're trying to flood the news and chats with more positive news stories so the letter stories get buried.
      Just say 'we made a massive mistake, a horrific one. We apologised privately to Drake, but here is our public apology, we are so ashamed, this never should have happened, we knew better and we did it anyway. We made the wrong choice, and it destroyed someone, and we have to live with that, we have to carry that because we made the wrong call. We apologise to Drake, and to any other victims who have gone unheard or dis-believed because of our actions. We want to be better allies, and we will try harder.'
      Instead, 'I think Brian has suffered enough?!' and 'the worst part is how this damages the legacy of our really stupid terrible little cheesy sitcom that ripped off most stories from The Wonder Years.' And Danielle chiming in to repeatedly make it sound like Will and Rider were the victims in all of this was just..
      All three of them are awful. They should be ashamed of themselves, they should be disgusted with themselves. Because they are trash.

    Will Friedle and Ryder Strong really broke my heart. They did an episode on their podcast talking about it and I do not believe they understand what they did by supporting Brian Peck. That man is a monster and did heinous things to a child. They claim Brian fooled them but, they did not sound genuine in the episode discussing it. It makes me wonder if that is part of why Ben Savage cut ties with them. I can’t listen to their podcast or watch Boy Meets World anymore. They are not the men they seemed to be.

    I hope Dan and everyone who protected him, looking at you CEO of Paramount, as well as the parents who purposefully looked away instead of protecting their children - all get charged and serve time and are listed as child predators.
    ALSO YES PLEASE COVER NICKELODEON IN ITS ENTIRETY! it's so bad and you'd do it with so much respect!

      More and more people need to continue to protest for that and support these alumni child stars. That’s the only way, they’ll take action and hold him accountable. Obviously the higher authorities won’t take the initiative and do it on their own. 🙄

    The psuedo crying thing...wow. Reminds me of my stepfather who sexually abused me for 8yrs. Yet, everyone fell for his lies. Thankfully I was able to emancipate myself eventually. *sighs* These things have been happening for EONS, to millions of children all over the world. But its famous incidents like this, that bring recognition to the issue. Please, I beg all of you, BELIEVE your children if and when they finally tell you whats happening, or happened. No matter how many years have gone by. Yes, there are a very few who lie about what occured in thier childhood. But MOST of them are desperate and telling the truth. Please, please listen. I am 54 now, and still struggle with what happened to me so long ago. 😢

    I'm getting so tired of perpetrators always wanting to come out and "apologize" for harm they cause to others when they get caught. They all think the same way. Oh I got exposed let me try to make things right. Like no! It's too late for that. You had the chance to stop doing what you did and you didn't. It's always the same old thing they do. Deflect, and "apologize" when their caught.

    The point about having therapists in the hiring process “to make sure they really want to be in this business” feels like weeding out the ones that will talk. Those that really want it will stay quiet to have the career they really want. I think having a therapist available during filming would be better to be a safe place to voice abuse concerns and help get kids help.
    But in a world where Drake was a jail bate tempter, how could that be successful?

    I’m here for you doing a deep dive on Nick. And as far as the apology from him, he believes he’s sincere, but it comes off like an apology your Mama told you to give to a friend you punched in the face because they deserved it…. You apologized but you didn’t mean it. You only did it because you were told too.
