@@SuperSilver316it’s his worst habit. I really hate that he does it in a vacuum because modern format is just not that. You DO have to consider everything.
31:50 another good thing to note is it is getting more going second focussed support in INFO, so this deck isn't left behind the meta in terms of new support coming out either
I like how a lot of people wrote of this deck as being terrible going 2nd when most if not all of the cards they got in Rage of the Abyss help you push going 2nd. Not to mention this deck can now fit a decent amount of hand traps or more than it ever could before. Glad to see the success of water and with the Supreme Darkness support the deck gets even better. 🧜♀️ 🌊
the SUDA poseidra is beyond silly going second, I made a memey turbo out levia-dragon go second atlantean deck and almost all the time poseidra would just enable the OTK
True the handtrap version might still be better. Going 2nd you still need a boardbreaker to start with though. Im running a main deck consisting off 8 handtraps which can also be held off as boardbreakers. All trap cards so thrust/talents/calledby is useless. Then going 2nd I side in lots of boardbreakers pushing 16 non-engine mark. I have a very strong chance going 2nd as well as the best current mermail version vs dshifter going 1st.
Considering Coelacanth's use in RUclips combos with absurd Synchro shenanigans, it's surprising to hear that this is standard in the _grindier, less_ combo version of the deck. Though, I guess here he's just an insane extender, summoning half your combo pieces from the deck.
Mizuchi negates droplet btw....and perulia isnt that great into mermails. They can just use fish and spam extra deck only. Giving you 2 cards max after banishing one and sending two to the GY. Op still ends up negging into that board.
I agree lingering effects are broken, but it's not gonna happen. If you're talking about shifter, that card should have been banned or limited after Kash format. If it didn't happen, then it's not gonna happen now.
Realistically, these things are necessary or no one would play this game, it turns into a coin flip game where the one who goes first wins every time and combo for 30 minutes
Now the deck is getting noticed… crap. Also love how everyone calls this deck handrip turbo now as if moulinglacia hasn’t been used in the deck since abyss rising. And I remember post neptabyss there was 1 card diva combos that ended on moulinglacia, abyss dweller, and gaios. Moulinglacia has always been used in mermail
The deck has ALWAYS been handrip turbo. At least post Mouling. That's the problem. That's why pre Mouling era mermail decks were so much more enjoyable. The biggest issue is how so many mermail players think Mouling shouldn't be banned as if its a card that deserves to exist anyways
decks like this always have a bomb that can win, its just not consistent. Mermail=Coalacanth , Synchron= Junk Speeder , Crystal Beast = Ruby Carbuncle , Naturia = Beast/Barkion. These decks are bad but if they get full combo they build the most unbreakable boards.
Mermail does not go into coalacant in their normal lines. It is just there as a broken extender to still end on an insane board after being handtrapped twice.
He said in a livestream that mermail before neptabyss was a mid-range deck with a cool grind game. After neptabyss came out people tried to find out the most toxic combos to hand rip with moulinglacia and abyssleed and all that kind of cards.
@@Ff-kj7slThis exactly. Moulinglacia kills a lot of positive vibes for the deck and honestly should be banned. People keep trying to defend it by saying "rip 2 doesn't matter" or "you lose against full board anyways" but they don't realize mouling is very early in combo and is extremely easy to set up
I would take out the bricks and play 2 fishborg harpooner which is a level 4 fish tuner that can special summon colecanth from hand and colecanth can summon it from deck to make dragite or toad😅
harpooner is a trash card. It does not trigger dragoons or shadow squad with its effect, since it does not send as cost. It is only good if you open colecant, which you never want to do. The Abysspike's are still a 1.5 card combo with any water, and full combo with goons or squad. Taking out other cards like the armored shark just make your end board weaker to put in 2 bricky harpooners that don't improve your end board at all.
Hehe nice video and impression. Mermail atlanteans is back! Am having fun on my youtube chan with it. Still didnt have the time to upload my zombie deck eventho its halloween ^^
I think the best way to run the deck is with board breakers and go full gas. I agree with Joshua's criticism. I'm surprised nobody is running a 2 Pike and 1 Turge package instead of just 3 Pike.
@kio4896 that's not always true + there are Turge specific combos that Pike can't do. It's no more bricky than running triple Pike after using the effect already that turn.
Abysspike is full combo with Goons or squad, turge isn't. On top of that, Pike is also a 1.5 card combo with any water that ends on double toad and the link 3. Not great, but way better than Turge + a water.
Won a regional with Coelacanth? Wow, you mean a monster that can Special 4 fish for free and is a (Quick Eff) Omni Negate if targeted by anything? Wow who would have ever fucking thought? 😮 You mean to tell me that someone did somthing without Jesse Kotton signing off on it first and declaring it good or bad? 😮😮 I sware man, the lack of creativity in Ygo is so bad that Coelcanth actually surprises people. I have been special summoning that thing with Abyss Keeper for the longest time now in Umi Control ever since Abyss Keeper was printed in Common, and people are just now catching on to this thing lol. Wake me up again when the next rougue strategy becomes meta. Who knows maybe people will finally catch on to shaddoll fusion in Water is busted cuz you can send literally any water monster u want to the GY to make a lvl 9 water fusion, and yoh can literally send Fishborg Launcher to the Gy who is a lvl 1 tuner that will special himself so you can literally shaddol fusion an instant lvl 10 synchro + banish 3 cards off of the water shaddoll sent to the Gy as well lol
If Lightsworn can't have fairytale, then water sure as sin shouldn't get moulinglacia. And yes, I wanted water Delinquent Duo banned since I first saw it like over a decade ago.
My opinion that konami should make a role in the game that discarding or lessing more than one card or even one in the opponent hand is forbidden at going first , this will solve some problems or may be even the very unfair delinquent duo , thats what I think.
I mean they can (and should) just ban the cards that enable that, its always a horseshit mechanic that never feels fun to stare down. I'd be down with letting darkworld cook for 15 minutes if it wasn't in service of taking every card out of my hand with sillva.
@frig7014 thank you for mentioning sillva ... very few that mention it nowdays (a very annoying unfair card), I guess when the time come were the darkworld getting any support cards they evantually will ban sillva... they had to.
Chris Mark is a particularly insane Mermail pilot. Jesse Kotton went to this same regional also with Mermail and went x-3.
Is there any info on how many times each of them went first?
