Should just be plain apparent Jeffrey Hanneman had more skittles among the fretboard of his guitar .. .I personally am curious as to what Jeffrey Hanneman felt about the singing done throughout Possessed...
@grthym21 They weren't assholes if that's what you mean, they had an schedule of shows to do and they hire Gary Holt because they already had a friendship with Exodus and stuff. Jeff Hanneman was loved by all of the members and even with his whole arm fucked up, he managed to go on stage one last time. That's awesome, but what you wanted to happen? The band just stopping? Sadly they had to continue, they didn't know he would die 2 years later. Even Tom said in a interview back in 2012 that Jeff was getting better, but sadly a year after he died.
@grthym21 "gods punishment" ??? Punishment for what??? Making music millions love??? God choose to punish him for that but let politicians go free??? GO FUCK YOURSELF! RIP Hanneman
0:27 "..it´s all about hate..." Really miss him and his talent of writing good riffs. He was really good and very important for the sound of Slayer, it wasn´t really the same after his - too early - death. R.I.P Jeff Hanneman!
Out of the "Big 4", Slayer stood out. Arguably, they are the best of the crop. Slayer shredded Metallica, Anthrax and Megadeth to pieces. Unrelentless, they stayed the brand of heavy. As a band, they stood tall and proud atop all their peers. Modest and humble, eccentric and crazy. Slayer is the best band of our generation.
Ehhh...they were good until Lombardo left....then he came back and they were good again.....then he once again left and they were once again just....mediocre
dkyelak Ah the "cosmic thing" record of 1989. yes, good songs there, also "channel z" and "deadbeat club" i like on that. but they didn't have that weird rocking sound anymore. their original guitarist ricky wilson was responsible for it, but he had died of aids by then. fred shneider has some solo shit i like, that has like a punk rock sound.
Cheetah Chrome B52s was like DEVO. First two were great, the next had some good songs but started to sound main stream and then everything else was meh imo,
@@LetsGoMetsGo33 yeah, I hear ya but credit to them for keeping going, they are still kinda out there but I think Jeff was talking about the earlier stuff.
Thank you for all the years of help in channeling my anger out through your music. You don't know this but you saved the life of a lot of my enemies at the time. Not to mention you saved my sanity a time or two. R.I.P. Brother
Loved that he liked the B52's especially "Rock Lobster". That says a lot about his Punk/New Wave influences. He even said that Punk rock (especially fast punk) was a huge influence on Slayer (Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Minor Threat, D.R.I., Misfits, etc.).
The world of metal is missing something without this great man ! He had an awesome sense of humour ! Loved B 52s and hated chick flicks ! Good man ! 🤘🏻
You know, I love Slayer, but I'm not a mega fan. I have never seen an interview with Jeff. I didn't know he had done any. I have always been under the impression that he was anti-social. But he comes across as major cool here.
+taergehtsiram I think he was more reclusive, than anti-social. maybe a little anti-social in certain situations, but yeah, if he liked you, it seems that he was pretty chill and cool to hang with. I don't think he likes to talk about himself, which is highly unusual in the rock n roll world. He wrote the map for thrash and lots of darker metal for the next 40 years, blending punk with fast metal.
Never answered phone calls. Kerry said he was always a recluse, and even more after the illnesses struck him. If he didn't like you, he wouldn't hang with you. He would sit in the tourbus and drink beer and play music on his iPad until everyone was gone, then he would show up. Robb Flynn said he would get rowdy after a certain amounts of beer, but he seemed annoyed at the people around him.
He was very shy about talking to media after what i read from 2 books on Slayer. Hes interest in the band was making music. And after that he only wanna stay home. Drinking beer with friends. Being with his family. A wife and a dog. Watching sport on tv and collect world war 2 item. And not to forget . Make the best riffs on the planet
Rest in peace Jeff. You'll be sourly missed. I still remember the first time I heard the solo to Seasons in the Abyss. I was blown away. You live on in our minds!!!
This Thursday 6 years ago 2nd May 2013 we lost a legend. Takin from us way to early. The Angel of Death is South of Heaven & Still Reigning in Blood. RIP Jeff Hanneman. .😪😪😪😪😪😪😪🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I first heard Jeff and Kerry jamming together when I was 8-9 years old...Im 36 now...I feel almost as Ive lost my father.....Rest in Peace Jeff, your music will always be in my heart
It's a shame we had to lose someone so talented in the music industry. He did not go anywhere, that what his beliefs were. May Slayer live on... hopefully.
Unbelievable, can't believe he has gone. Very shy and retiring guy, who didn't get the credit he deserved for being such a brilliant song-writer. That will all change now, always does when somebody dies. Everybody will now acknowledge the genius of Jeff, and rightly so.
I am and have always been an avid slayer fan... They have incorporated an abundance of punk/thrash/ and death metal through every album... But this is done with complete originality and technical expertise... They have it all...
I am forever tied to this band because I carved the word slayer into my arm when I was 15 with a razor blade and it scarred.. I did like some of the songs, the 1st song I heard was Seasons in the abyss on headbangers ball followed by buying Undisputed Attitude but I moved away from that kind of music (Pantera, Obituary, Slayer, Machine Head, Carcass, Gwar among many others) by the age of 20 but pop back every once in a while due to my still visible reminder of the band on my arm.
I think it's funny he mentions his love of the B-52's, and you listen to some of their riffs...play them without distortion, it's fucking surf rock at 220 BPM.
Jeff was so fucking cool! My favorite metal guitarist with the coolest looking guitar covered with cool band stickers. He helped write some of the best Slayer songs. He will be missed!
this interview is weird, on both of those questions jeff predicted the end of two things only a year or nearly after their said fact, being. People said the world was going to end in 2012, but it didn't. Though he met his end in 2013. the year after 2012, the weird thing then is he said slayer would have about 7 max more years. depending on when this interview actually happened. the upload date is 2011, which slayer should by his account ended in 2018, when did slayer disband? 2019. just a weird thing to think about.
SLAYER is my outlet and has been for most of my life..when the/my world is so fucked up I can always rely on SLAYER to keep me going....Thank you Jeff, Tom Kerry & Dave...your music have been my lifeline time and time again. R.I.P. to the best ever metal songwriter/composer ever
Fkn miss you Jeff !! 🤘🏼😢🤘🏼 ... First met him back in the 80s ,I'm a crazy Texan ,who lives in Mexico, but was raised in SLC,UT and SLAYER are God's up there, met them a whole bunch of times, we even took a pic of us all wearing the same tshirts , from a local badass music store I used to shop and hang out back when I was a kid in SLC , THE HEAVY METAL SHOP !! And a big hello to KEVIN K. !! 🤘🏼
I am a christian also. I elavate Christ above all else, as should everyone do. He is our savoir, and He loves all of us. And I love Slayers music, and this man wrote amazing guitar riffs and songs. And he is our brother. R.I.P Jeff.
Jeff so right on about the singers in modern metal , all sounding alike . Theirs nothing unique when 20,000 bands all sound the same vocally . This was a reason Slayer was unique for their time , they stood out as nobody was quite like them .
I've been listening and loving Jeff's work in Slayer since the fucking beginning of their career. All life long fans will be shocked by the news of his passing. I know I am. Well it's time for me to get smashed in Jeff's honor...Black Tooths, Jagers, Heinekens and a beefy bowl or two. A mighty metal "Hail" to Jeff! You kicked ass bro, and my life was changed because of it.
All the best songs were written by Jeff, yet Kerry King is the one always doing interviews being the face of Slayer. Jeff was and is the heart of Slayer. The moment he stopped playing Slayer died.
Iggy Pop was completely unaware of hardcore punk until he was asked to record a song for the Repo Man soundtrack, and he was one of the original punks. It's something like that.

weird to hear him say 2012 the end of world spooked him. the world didnt end but it did for him in 2013. rip.
did it? It just ended his ego identity. I am sure he or she is 7 yr old now after reincarnation (depending on his karma or cause and effect)

The end of an ERA. deeply saddened and heartbroken. Without a doubt the best guitarist to ever play a stage with SLAYER. He can never be replaced.

First: they are not humble at all. Second: they were never the best of the crop. These fuckers made one decent album: show no mercy.
Ehhh...they were good until Lombardo left....then he came back and they were good again.....then he once again left and they were once again just....mediocre
Love Slayer but not sure if they shredded Megadeth to pieces. But I do agree they stood out.
Tragic Jeff died at such a young age, just 49.
"We're all gonna die anyway"

Makes me sad...
Me too :(
Jeff liked B 52s. Me too. Great band.
their first 2 records are great. weird 50/60s surf scifi camp fun. and rocked. not the same after that.
Cheetah Chrome Love Shack and Roam were cool though.

No kidding right?
Shavo is a huge fan of theirs and I believe so is Daron.
That praise got me back into system but I still prefer slayer
So sad, seems like a goofy nice dude. Miss you Jeff.
I've been growing up with your masterpieces for 28 years and they have made me who I am. Respect to you Jeff. You kept it real. RIP.

Do you remember what he said? The part about the end of Slayer seems to have been cut off, I guess
I like that Jeff is sincere about his answers.
Awesome. RIP, Jeff. Long Live SLAYER!!!!

Jeff seemed like a cool dude.Rip Jeff we will miss your guitar solos and your songwriting
Listening to slayer is an out let bro. RIP.
Some smart guys, there is more hate and violence in rap, but medias choose to harrass metal style music. What a shit is the world we are living in...
what song is in the background at 3:15??
amazing interview. what year was this done?
