- Multi Species Feeder Fishing On A Tidal River
Today's session sees us back on the rubble with the river conditions being less than ideal with a lack of rain the river is low and slow. Still you have to be in it to win it so I went out armed with my barbel rods for a session on the river ribble.
As usual grab a brew or a beer and enjoy the video !

Found your channel a couple of days ago, and I've been loving the content. Keep up the good work.
Well done for trying a natural venue. I have not fished the Ribble but your tactics looked ok.
Another very enjoyable video. Nice to see river fishing for a change. I live near the Wye in mid Wales but never done any river fishing but for why I hear the river is badly polluted which is just so awful!!!! Hope your dad's back is better. Lovely to get out in this gorgeous weather . Am still thrashing my partner 34 to 27 , think I will let him win today , gonna try a lake North Wales. Anyway keep them videos coming cos it's great viewing x
Hi Matt, when I fished the rivers, I used Kraft cheese slices rolled into a big ball, then pinched some off & moulded it round a size 6 or 8 hook in the shape of an Arlsey bomb. Kraft slices are best as they aren't as soft & gooey as the cheaper ones. 🧀 🎣
Hope your dads back gets better soon
Just watching the vid now on the rubble. Hope your Dads back eases . I have similar problem. Murder to get out of bed in the mornings , takes me an hour or so to walk correctly . Got doctors phone appt next week. Hard work all our lives. Payback time😁 Hard fishing today for you both . But 👏 you keep smiling . 👍
I'm a sciatica sufferer to. It's excruciating pain when it strikes & U never know how long its going to last
Thanks Darren. Not sure what mine is but whatever it is , it drives me potty, struggle to walk when I wake . And aches when I have done a bit of work or walk after a while. Payback for grafting all my life. But still here. You keep safe , same to Westys Dad.👍
luv a river sesh mat...if my local is low and slow it gets tough to catch...but fishes much better a couple of days after rain..with a lot more colour in it and a bit more flow.....hope ya dads feeling better!...tight lines ...
Meant Ribble . At least the fishing picked up with the perch and Bream. Even eels popping up. Enjoyed it, keep going.👏
Hiya Westy, I think your a good fisherman, but whats interesting is other fisherman try to advise you. That's what I love about fishing & other fishermen, there so friendly & only want to help & learn. I don't fish rivers but your making me rethink. As long as your out with your dad your always going to have a good day.
Some people think they know a better way Barry. In reality it’s location, conditions and guesswork. More than one way to skin a cat 👌🏻
Hope your Dad’s back is better soon. Often driven past the Ribble never fished it!
amazing to see a couple of eels. you didn't seem that surprised by them so i'm assuming they're doing ok there but considering how threatened they are worldwide i would feel so blessed
We do seem to have plenty around us ! 🐍
A quick Shout out to paul, with my recent stints in hospital and over 30 years of back issues involving far too many hours in a mri scanner and specialist docs i do have a quick and easy method to stop sciatic issues within the hour, now comes the easy bit...literally wrap the affected sides leg and foot around a broomstick and lever the affected leg outwards by pushing the the top of the broom handle.
Thank me in an hour. 😅
😂 I have told him he needs to be stretching etc !
Thats one of my favourite pegs your fishing on for the ribble haha shaws arms 😉
Yes westy i was on ribble other day on worm and live baiting. Got some good perch out lost a pb bout 2lb and got a pike 5.8lb.
Well in bro ! I have a theory that the predator fish are really switched on and hungry when the rivers are low and slow. What do you think ?
You get a live bait out across from farm just up from deeps mate you catch all day. It's just hardwork that river walking so far to find a peg with all your gear. Hope poppy westys ok
I've just started ma own channel now. Should of started after you give me that cap at lakeside cuz you fish local I've caught that sturgeon thanks to you 😂 i up for going high hay's next. Keep it up love the content and local place's
I've fished those swims in the past and generally used a 4/5 swanshot fishing the far bank.
Also I think you would be better off using a bowl to mix ground bait in, it's easier than a square bucket.
Scaling down from size 8 to a guru 12 will definitely increase the catch rate to much more even though many fish havent been caught or seen a hook they will still be weary of maggots that do not look in a natural shape i know you caught on the size 8 but a 12 can handle barble easy no problem you never see anglers with alot of experience fishing for a large variety of fish using anything bigger than a 12 only specimen hunters use owt bigger. definitely something to consider 👍🏼
I much prefer a wide gape Korum hook for feeder fishing. That’s not been my experience… If that was the case my dad would have been catching more than me as he was fishing a size 14. But I will take your professional advice 👌🏻🎣
@@WestysAngling im no professional im only 16 and im not trying to criticise as you obviously still caught a few quality fish its just sometimes chucking double maggot on smaller hooks will
Get you the bites you are not getting.
love you westy my favourite angler ever❤
Nice spot
I know how your dad feels I’ve just had emergency surgery for sciatica and cauda equina hope he gets it checked out at the doctors
go on papa westy
Maybe should find out if the brew is coffee or tea get a box of tbags or a jar of coffee for father and son
Is there a stretch with easy access and you don’t have to walk far? I’ve not fished the Ribble since I was a kid with my older brother. Really fancy having a crack 😊
Hi westy do you know where this spot on the ribble is as I want to have a go on the river but I do not know any half decent spots brilliant video by the way can’t wait to see more
Church Deeps Ribchester preston, there's better day ticket stretch for £5 down near the tickled trout stretch tight lines 🎣✨️
Who put westy on the no artificial baits ban?
Himself 😂 just an experiment it’s been tough, expensive and caught less fish for sure !
Hi westy
😂👍
Watch a RUclips channel called piker Biker. He specializes on those stretches of river, you won't be disappointed, very informative. I used to work with Ian,brilliant bloke.
Really love your vids Mr westy
Can I ask one favour please
Get dad set up an down the bank safe we only get one bruv
We need to look after them because at the end of the day thay introduced us to fishing
My dad's past know so I would give my life to do what you do with your brilliant fantastic an good old dad
Please don't take afence
Many thanks bobcat
Hang on Mark I’m not that old yet 😂😂😂 but thanks for the thought. 👍
There's no point chasing the fish. Get the little fish feeding & bigger will come. You are also fishing a little bit too heavy for a natural venue. 🎣✨️
