  • This is live music at its best. "Private Hell", originally by The Jam wasn't released as a single but featured on the first release of The Jam's 1979 album "Setting Sons". The song is about being a victim of you misery.
This performance comes from the "From the Jam - A 1st Class Return" concert Live at the Forum in December 2007. From the Jam kick off at full speed, each one complimenting the other and the material as fresh as when it was at the top of the UK Charts! They turned a chilly night in North London into a rhythm inferno, and in doing so, rewrite modern world anthems for the 21st century!
    From the Jam line up:
Bruce Foxton - Bass Guitar, Acoustic Guitar and Vocals.
    Rick Buckler - Drums.
Russell Hastings - Lead Vocals, Guitar and Acoustic Guitar.
Dave Moore - Guitar, Bass, Keyboards and Backing Vocals.

Was expecting something in the nature of a tribute band feel, but damn, Hastings *nailed* it, and Foxton and Buckler sound even *better* than before. With the second guitar,, too. Damn, this kicks ass!

Vocal fantastic and perfect instrumental. Actually this meeting was very successful. It is amazing how the voices of Hastings and Foxton combined perfectly.

Amazing lyrics. Still have the LP. The whole album is perfect.
Bumped into Bruce in a pub before a SLF gig when he was their bassist. Got him a beer and shook his hand for his music over the years. Saw him a few times with 3 Men and Black. Look that up as the album they did is superb.

This is really good but watch The Jam’s version on US TV ABC show. It’s absolutely visceral!

Ok, this is fabulous... Weller's gotta feel like SH&% if he watches this. Russell Hastings friggin tears it up and does Weller better than Weller does himself these days. As important as Foxton and Buckler are to this whole revival project, Hastings is the one who really makes it fly. Shut your eyes and you'd swear the original three were playing in front of you back in 1980...

At least he's not a hologram. Good to see Bruce and Rick making some dosh from these tunes again.

Had the misfortune to see Weller at the RAH, a pretentious prick with a child’s attitude towards his audience, walking round spitting on the stage, played his shite new album which no one wanted to hear, played a Jam tune the place went mad, pissed him off big time.

I doubt Weller feels like sh17, he should have felt that way in '82 when he decided to sc**w over his two mates, so he could get oiled up and roll about on a gondalla with the fat bloke out the Merton Parkas.
Glad Bruce and Rick hot a financial turn out of this
      Hastings is amazing

Just fucking fantastic. Weller did the original heavy lifting on the lyrics but excellent version, and as everone notes, great work from Russell Hastings on guitar and vocals.

don't hear any other material , but this band sounds so tight and cohesive , that hope that they create some new songs of their own besides Jam's repertoire

It sounds like Paul Weller, but it isn't Paul Weller. All sounds like The Jam. Congratulations.
